We're almost there, only 15 more months of media overload. So I figure you want to read about it here also in between Corvette threads.

I watched the GOP debate yesterday, I thought it was an American Idol rerun at first. Fox News should take their work more seriously. Very unprofessional. I suppose they felt it necessary to boost ratings with their banter, but face it, Trump brought the viewers already.

My review:

Trump - Didn't explode as many hoped for, but I wouldn't have faulted you for it after the crass line of questioning Fox directed at you.

Ben Carson - You sound very smart on rehearsed commentary on Fox News shows, but sounded completely outclassed and out of touch on live TV. Memorize some numbers and use big words like the rest of the guys up there, sheesh.

Scott Walker - You're a charming guy, trying to cheer on Ben Carson. It's like you were watching your 8 yr old's school play from the front row. But I'm still not understanding your response to Wisconsin being worse after your term: "You should have seen it before I got there." I'll fact check.

Rand Paul - Your quips must have sounded clever in your head, but they came out like incoherent piss and vinegar on stage. I know what platform you pretend to stand for, but the rest of the viewers didn't learn anything useful about you. Have a Snickers before the next debate.

Kasich - I don't know anything about you, but your ability to not look like a jackass on stage was admirable. I'll research more. Although at times it looked like you were competing for the Apprentice, not the presidency. If nothing else you can run for VP on Donald's third party ticket.

Rick Perry - The glasses make you look smart, I almost didn't recognize you. Unfortunately they don't make you any smarter. You're more Bush than Bush ever was.

Jeb/Marco - Real tough on immigration. As of last week.

Chris Christie - It's a shame that you'd have more broad national appeal than most on stage, but you'll have to spend the next 6 months stroking bibles and protecting prejudicial wedding cake bakers and saving babies from the mythical organ black market.

Lindsay Graham - I didn't hear anything you said, because your body language was very... loud. You shoulda went pee during one of the commercial breaks dude. Imagine this guy across the poker table from Putin.

Santorum - I honestly wouldn't brag about your "success" of last time around. Finishing better than last is not a success in my book.

Huckabee - Another charming fellow. I'd let you babysit my kids. As for the presidency, well I'll pass, as I've listened to your radio show/sermon.

My closing statement... I love Jesus more than all of you combined! I want my 2 hours back.

Trump said he's all about favors being owed to him. Think of the favors he'll get if he runs 3rd party and hands the election to Hillary.

YES. I'D SAY IT'S LOOKING MORE AND MORE THAT WAY; WILL IT BE "ROSS TRUMP" OR "DONALD PEROT"?

I HOPE HE WAKES UP SOME OF THE REPUBLICAN PERMANENT POLITICAL CLASS. BUT THEN THEY WOULDN'T BE THE STUPID PARTY, WOULD THEY?

I like (q) None of the above. Florida presents Jeb and Marco. I can't even support my homeboys although Jeb is big on education. When it comes to the Democrats, lets just say we're overwrought with social programs. The House and Senate are even worse when it comes to performance. If we stay the course we can look forward to bankruptcy. Italy, Spain, France, China and Greece will have nothing on us. We can trump them all.

NICE TOUCH TOMMY :-)

I LIKE WALKER AND KASICH. WALKER HAD THE GUTS/SMARTS TO TAKE ON THE SOCIALIST MYRMIDONS AND BEAT THEM. KASICH HAS DONE GOOD STUFF IN HIS STATE.

NOT INTERESTED IN A SENATOR IN THE WHITEHOUSE; THEY ARE TALKERS, NOT DOERS. SOMEONE WITH EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE WOULD BE MO' BETTA. CHRISTI IS A COUNTRY CLUB REPUBLICAN AND HUCKABEE IS A JOKE. A BAPTIST PREACHER/ROCK MUSICIAN/POLITICIAN IS CONFUSED AT BEST, PATHOLOGICAL AT WORST.

WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE SUBJECT OF PERSONALITY/CHARACTER.
PERSONALITY = A CONSTELLATION OF PREDISPOSITIONS TO RESPOND TO SPECIFIC STIMULI IN CONSISTENT WAYS.

THIS IS WHY TRACK RECORD IS SO IMPORTANT. LOOK AT WHAT THEY HAVE DONE, NOT WHAT THEY SAY.

At this point I don't really think it matters.....the years of government abuse has put us in a situation that what it would take to fix it has no chance of getting done. Why? Because the government has.......hell, you know why.....now it's figure out what to do to protect yourself financially and physically from the wreck that is coming.......

The three Corruptions that have cooked our goose.....

1. The Corruption of Politics ( the era if entitlement )

2. The Corruption of Debt ( $52,000 per every man woman and child )

3. The Corruption of Currency ( REAL per family income is unchanged since 1971 )

.....Hey got my new Doomsday book in......America 2020 The Survival Blueprint.......

More later.......as my formally nicotine stained fingers rapidly turn the pages.....

I don't know who makes up this electability crap. Went through that last go around. Romney was Mr. Electable and all his assumed voters stayed home. Someone like Ron Paul at least worth listening to, discounted from the starting line as not electable.

Trump is clearly in this for Hillary. It's all a big joke and he'll probably tell us how stupid Americans are after he succeeds.

I don't support anyone at this point, it's a one-party system as far as I can tell.

Race to the right followed by a race to the middle. Maybe Bernie Sanders can beat out Hillary. He's one of the few up there not bought and paid for.

You all more then likely won't like what I am going to say... but I am fine with that.

I watch politics from a different perspective. More theoretical than marketing.

In short, the GOP has a problem... Barry Goldwater identified it 40 years ago... the Christian right.

It is ok to be Christian, I am one... but once the GOP embraced the Christian right as a political force, all things negotiated went right out the window. Christians have a tendency to be dogmatic, wrapped up with their God and beliefs that are without waiver.

This is fine on a Sunday and a good moral compass to guide ones life with, but to govern this way makes us no better than an Islamic state. Seriously. Think about it.

As for Mitt Romney, he lost because of the Tea Party. They have absolutely scared the shit of of the moderates in our society. So much so that Romney, a classic Eisenhower Republican, was not elected... because he wasn't far enough to the right for the Tea Party and Paul scared the moderates for being too far to the right. Talk about a catch 22.

I have done some fact checking on Scott Walker. Wisconsin is in bad shape... and it has a lot to do with his policies. Check the numbers... the state is in serious trouble, economically. Unless they have improved dramatically in the last 6 or 8 months... I wouldn't vote for him to save my life.

The other side, Democrats, scare me also. I really really really wish Elizabeth Warren would run. But I don't think she will.

The other task of government is to establish a stable economic environment. The Tea Party wants to gut that and let the markets rule... the markets will only ruin... those greedy bastards will be the end of the middle class if left alone. Privatize Social Security? No. No way in hell. I don't trust Wall Street as far as I can spit on it, and I sure don't want them being in control of ALL my retirement. Some basic regulation is needed to keep greedy, unethical people honest. Without them, we have the Savings and Loan disaster and the Mortgage Meltdown. Oh, forgot all about Black Friday, 1929...

Final thought:

Government must be able to compromise to establish laws that satisfy the majority of the population. Not placate a small group that yells a lot. This means laws that allow vs ban are more appropriate over the long haul, because bans effect everyone, where as permitting only effects those that want...

Case in point is gay marriage and abortion. Allowing them doesn't change my life, but banning them, all because a small group is offended (for whatever reason) is truly the definition of a nanny nation. And by allowing abortion, it isn't a REQUIREMENT, but an OPTION.

I am not a fan of tax monies going to pay for abortions, tho... I do draw the line there.

As for gun control, use both hands. Fix the damned mental health system, improve reporting of those institutionalized and much of the problem will fix itself.

Yeah, governing on personal religious beliefs is stupid and devisive. The presidents personal OPINION or BELIEF on things like gay marriage or abortion or climate change, etc should not be relevant. Yet it seems to be the first qualifier in an election. The executive branch doesn't create laws or pass judgement on constitutionality of them.

It does however command the military, and they never seem to agree with me on that endeavor.

I MOSTLY AGREE WITH YOU ANDY, BUT AS A LIBERTARIAN WITH ANARCHIST TENDENCIES, I MUST QUIBBLE, YOU KNOW. :-)

I watch politics from a different perspective. More theoretical than marketing.

It is ok to be Christian, I am one... but once the GOP embraced the Christian right as a political force, all things negotiated went right out the window. Christians have a tendency to be dogmatic, wrapped up with their God and beliefs that are without waiver.

THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT THE MOST DANGEROUS CREATURE ON THE PLANET IS THE RELIGIOUS FANATIC. AT THE SAME TIME, IT WOULD BE IRRATIONAL NOT TO RECOGNIZE THE IRREPLACEABLE ROLE RELIGION PLAYS IN HUMAN SOCIETY. PEOPLE ABSOLUTELY WILL BELIEVE IN SOMETHING. JESUS CHRIST BEATS HELL OUT OF MARX OR MOHAMED.

This is fine on a Sunday and a good moral compass to guide ones life with, but to govern this way makes us no better than an Islamic state. Seriously. Think about it.

THAT'S WHY---CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW CONCERNING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION---

As for Mitt Romney, he lost because of the Tea Party. They have absolutely scared the shit of of the moderates in our society. So much so that Romney, a classic Eisenhower Republican, was not elected... because he wasn't far enough to the right for the Tea Party (NOT SO. HE LOST BECAUSE HE IS A COLORLESS CIPHER, OBAMA IN WHITE-FACE, AND BECAUSE THE NATIONAL SOCIALISTS DOMINATE THE MEDIA.) and Paul scared the moderates for being too far to the right.

(WHY IS THAT? ALL THEY WANT IS TO CONTROL EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE AND TAX THE AIR YOU BREATHE.)I really really really wish Elizabeth Warren would run. But I don't think she will.

The other task of government is to establish a stable economic environment. The Tea Party wants to gut that and let the markets rule... the markets will only ruin... those greedy bastards will be the end of the middle class if left alone. (AH, I DO BELIEVE HISTORY SHOWS THE MIDDLE CLASS TO BE THE PRODUCT OF A MARKET ECONOMY) Privatize Social Security?

IF FORCED TO CHOOSE, I WOULD RATHER BE AT THE MERCY OF THE MARKET THAN THE GOVERNMENT. THE MARKET LURES YOU, THE GOVERNMENT COERCES YOU

Final thought:

Government must be able to compromise to establish laws that satisfy the majority of the population. Not placate a small group that yells a lot. (THIS LATTER, OF COURSE, HAS BEEN THE PATH OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SINCE 1965. THE GREAT NEGRO APOTHEOSIS, OF WHICH WE SEE SUCH FINE RESULTS IN FERGUSON AND BALTIMORE, IS THE PRIME, BUT FAR FROM ONLY EXAMPLE.) This means laws that allow vs ban are more appropriate over the long haul, because bans effect everyone, where as permitting only effects those that want...

THIS IS ATTRACTIVE IF IT DOES NOT LEAD TO THE GERMANIC MINDSET THAT ALL THAT IS NOT ALLOWED IS FORBIDDEN. GOVERNMENT SHOULD GIVE PEOPLE A REAL GOOD LEAVING ALONE.

Case in point is gay marriage and abortion. Allowing them doesn't change my life, but banning them, all because a small group (NOT SO SMALL, I'D SAY) is offended (for whatever reason), (AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF APPEASING A NOISY MINORITY. MARRIAGE IS NOT ABOUT SEX. IT IS ABOUT OFFSPRING AND PROPERTY. HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE MAKES AS MUCH SENSE AS CHAPLAINS FOR ATHEISTS)--is truly the definition of a nanny nation. And by allowing abortion, it isn't a REQUIREMENT, but an OPTION.

OUTLAWING ABORTION IS LIKE OUTLAWING SCHIZOPHRENIA. IT SIMPLY WILL HAPPEN. OFTEN IT IS THE LESSER OF EVILS.

I am not a fan of tax monies going to pay for abortions, tho... I do draw the line there.

As for gun control, use both hands. Fix the damned mental health system, improve reporting of those institutionalized and much of the problem will fix itself.

AND TO FURTHER STIR THE POT, THE GRIS Rx:

ABOLISH TAX EXEMPT STATUS. ANY PERSON/ORGANIZATION THAT OWNS PROPERTY OR MEETS A PAYROLL IS TAXED.

NO COMBINATION OF UNEARNED GOVERNMENT BENEFITS, WHETHER STATE, CITY, OR NATIONAL, SHALL EXCEED 80% OF THE AFTER TAX INCOME OF A SINGLE PERSON ON MINIMUM WAGE.

ANY ABLE BODIED WELFARE RECIPIENT MUST WORK 40 HOURS A WEEK FOR CITY, STATE, OR NATION. THE STREETS MUST BE SWEPT, LITTER COLLECTED, PUBLIC TOILETS CLEANED. BACK TO THE JOHN SMITH DOCTRINE.

We must be careful with taxes... rolling out too many changes all at once could cause a problem.

But I don't disagree that something must be done.

I agree that welfare recipients must to SOMETHING. Even if it's not manual labour, but something to help... job training type tasks.

Say a woman with health issues can't pick up trash, but can answer phones and do clerical duties... put her there.

I also feel we need to stop putting people in jail for every little thing... legalize pot, and that will go a long ways to helping the over crowding.

......some good ideas but none of that is relevant if the dollar loses its place as the world favored currency. The Chinese Yuan is figuring to be the top dog......and it will happen because they are backing it with Gold. China mines way more gold then anyone else in the world by about 2 or 3 times......didn't we use to be on the gold standard....hmmmm....

....you can argue all kinds of politics but fixing the dollar Trumps all of them.......arr arr arr......

I did not know that about Churchill ........I will study the effects of the failure.....I will Google it.....

You have to base a currency on something though......there has to be an affect from just printing more money or continuing to borrow with no hope of paying it back......something has got to give......

I see China devalued the Yuan today.......I don't understand it all but it seems it will put more pressure on the Dollar and the Euro.......sneaky bastards....

Based on # of dollars vs lbs of gold it looks like it would be a disaster to go back to the gold standard, but I've read it's not that simple, I don't know the answer.

We supposedly still have more gold reserves than any other country. Why sell it when you can just print more money.

Our currency is balanced on the tip of a needle...

I'm reading up on it now. I don't doubt going to a gold standard (aka real value) would be a nasty cold shower for most of us.

But it would be nasty only because we're living in a make-believe economy, that is perhaps unsustainable.

Consumer spending is supposed to be a sign of a healthy economy, but if they're not spending their own money, who gives a shit?

Interesting. It has been known for years that the US is living in an unrealistic economy. Here in lies the problem. If we adjust (which would be a serious kick in the ass for the spoiled do littles) the reliant economies that depend on our artificial monetary spending would also take a serious hit. Nobody seems to want the US to reconcile. They'd rather we spend unsupported money then not spend backed money.

....that's really good and I'd say right on the funny money....

How they gauge the economy is by how much spending is going on.....and how many jobs that creates but its all based on a lot of folks borrowing the money to buy big ticket items or taking that great vacation and putting it on the card to be paid for later......if everyone stayed within their means and only bought what they had the cash for the whole country would be down the tubes and tons of folks out of work.........We saw a glimpse of it in 08 when folks had to shut down spending but I think what is coming is going to make that look like a pup......

Yes but that does not mean we can't all be on our own Gold standard......buy now while the prices are low....and get double eagles not gold shares......also silver coins....just saying......you don't have to cash all your wall street shares in but a percentage would be prudent....When the poop hits the fan you won't be able to find it and if you do it will be worth many times what it is today......

WHILE DRIVING OUT TO WESTERN OK (FOUR HOURS ONE WAY) I GOT TO THINKING HOW MUCH FUN IT WOULD BE TO BE PRESIDENT FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS. (IT’D GET TIRESOME AFTER THAT)

THERE’D BE SO MANY BUREAUCRATS SHIT THEIR BRITCHES YOU COULD MAKE A FORTUNE ON HAYNES & JOCKEY STOCK. THE BATF WOULD BE AS EXTINCT AS THE PASSENGER PIGEON. THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION JUST THE MEMORY OF A BAD DREAM. THE MORBIDLY OBESE EPA WOULD LOOK LIKE A CONCENTRATION CAMP INMATE. BUNNY AND TREE HUGGERS WOULD BE REPLACED BY CONSERVATIONISTS WHO UNDERSTAND THAT PEOPLE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN BUGS, MINNOWS, AND SPOTTED OWLS. THE DRAFT WOULD BE REINSTATED AND THE ARMY WOULD OPERATE ON THE ROMAN PATTERN. IF THEY ARE NOT FIGHTING OR TRAINING, THEY’D BE BUILDING ROADS AND BRIDGES. EXCESS LAWYERS COULD BE USED FOR TACKLING DUMMIES.

I LEAD A RICH FANTASY LIFE.

What was even worse was when Attlee, the PM after Churchill, decided to start the great "Socialistic Experiment". That resulted in poor products, lots of strikes and the collapse of the British auto industry...

GRIS, although I am a conservationist I would not label myself a tree hugger. I'm more a fan of renewable resources and balancing the ecology with the needs of man. That means spreading out and leaving space for the spotted owl, endangered animals, fish and reptiles. We can share without destroying entire ecosystems. JMHO. The government is bloated and in need of serious reform. There are too many regulations everywhere. The political machine is antiquated. In this world a quick decision is vital without loading up a bill with unrelated amendments. The threat of agency shutdowns looms routinely. The TSA program could be streamlined to a validation program for regular travelers. You're OK, go ahead. Money collected for transportation through a maze of taxes should be used to rebuild the infrastructure in place. The cycle of economic dependence must be shattered and urban renewal revisited. Drug law reform, prison/incarceration reform for non violent crime, true healthcare reform, Corporate and tax reform and the list goes on and on. Lot's of air has been expended doing nothing about the above. Race relations must be reduced to human/non ethnic relations. An asshole is an asshole regardless of color. Too many fish have been given away with nobody learning how to fish. My time is almost up and I surrender any remaining time to other members of my PAC.

I wholeheartedly agree. The more things change the more they remain the same. I'm sure glad that I live in a period when all these inventions has freed up so much of my time to spend on more important things.(not) .... The Civil Rights actions of 50 years ago should start taking hold over the next century and a half. I wonder if one day there will be peace on Earth or pieces on Earth. Human rights issues one day will be overcome after a good couple of lefts. World hunger might one day become a thing of the past as soon as the hungry all starve to death. I don't have all the answers, just a lot of questions.

SOME INSIGHT INTO THE TRUMP PHENOMENON FROM PEGGY NOONAN WRITING IN THE WALL STREET JOURNAL ON REFUGEES IN EUROPE:

--- The gap between those who run governments and those who are governed has now grown huge and portends nothing good.

Rules on immigration and refugees are made by safe people. These are the people who help run countries, who have nice homes in nice neighborhoods and are protected by their status. Those who live with the effects of immigration and asylum law are those who are less safe, who see a less beautiful face in it because they are daily confronted with a less beautiful reality—normal human roughness, human tensions.

Decision-makers fear things like harsh words from the writers of editorials; normal human beings fear things like street crime. Decision-makers have the luxury of seeing life in the abstract. Normal people feel the implications of their decisions in the particular.

The decision-makers feel disdain for the anxieties of normal people, and ascribe them to small-minded bigotries, often religious and racial, and ignorant antagonisms. But normal people prize order because they can’t buy their way out of disorder.

People in gated communities of the mind, who glide by in Ubers, have bought their way out and are safe. Not to mention those in government-maintained mansions who glide by in SUVs followed by security details. Rulers can afford to see national-security threats as an abstraction—yes, yes, we must better integrate our new populations. But the unprotected, the vulnerable, have a right and a reason to worry. ---

---The biggest thing leaders don’t do now is listen. They no longer hear the voices of common people. Or they imitate what they think it is and it sounds backward and embarrassing. In this age we will see political leaders, and institutions, rock, shatter and fall due to that deafness.

THIS DISCONNECT IS WHY A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO MAY FIND TRUMP PERSONALLY DISTASTEFUL SUPPORT HIM AND WOULD/WILL VOTE FOR HIM.

THEY REALIZE THAT MY ENEMIES ENEMY IS MY FRIEND.
