Good Morning CGs!

Got the grass cut yesterday and started draining the pool cover. I'd like to get that off this week and set up the pump and hoses and get it filled. Takes about a day to balance the chemicals. Mostly a good hit of shock and then the mineral pack does the rest.

Meeting up with some out of town guests later today. I will show them around a bit, they were already in Chicago yesterday so they got to see downtown. I'll probably take them out to the ghetto and drop them off for a real Chicago experience (just kidding...). Maybe some shopping and a bite to eat.

Weekend is coming up...any plans?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Happy Friday! The sun is shining once again - looks like it will be a nice weekend, hope I get outside to enjoy some of it. Some new furniture is arriving tomorrow, so I'll be looking for my bottle of ibuprofen.

Have a good day, all!

Good mawnin

Today I get to stand up some trees in pots knocked over by heavy wind then mow both nurseries. Next I think I'm gonna wash, start and check out all the mechanical stuff in my driveway. That will take all the rest of the day, I'm sure.

Have fun everyone.

Morning, all.

As of 4 o'clock this afternoon, it is vacation time. And what a busy vacation it is shaping up to be.

Going to try to get at least part of the garden in if the weather holds up. Lots of lawn work to do as well.

Thursday I head out to Indy for the Hoosier 100. One of my favorite races to shoot.

Have a great weekend !

Flushed the home water system with bleach, then peroxide. Changed the water filter. Ran all the water faucets for awhile. Next, went to the nursery and stood up plants for 2 hours. Next, cut the grass at both nurseries. Came home beat. Fed the critters and now doing computer stuff. I'm done. Shower, dinner, and TV. That's all folks .......

Slept in this morning some. Got busy installing a frame, picking up GS #3's mower to do some maintenance, then off to the 'city' for several things. Spent way more time over there than I really wanted, but got some things I needed or wanted.

I spent about two hours this evening removing the finish on the face frames I sprayed the other day as they weren't drying completely. A phone call to the place I got it reveals that I am supposed to "put a catalyst to harden the finsh". "OK, there wasn't any catalyst included." "Yes, we know, we can't ship the catalyst, it's too volatile." "Ok, why wasn't I told that, and what am I supposed to do now?" "Maybe, go to your local Sherwin-Williams dealer to get the catalyst." Which is one of the things I did today. When I get there the guys says, I need to know what the product is, the can sent to me has no label, only some hand written notes. He sniffs and says there are lots of different catalysts and he needs to know which finish it is. So, I call the place again and after about 20 minutes, they tells us which catalyst I need, but they don't have it in stock and can have it for me tomorrow. So I ask them if I can just spray another coat over the top of what I have there. One guy tells me "Just make sure the existing stuff is dry...might take as long as two weeks." Another guy tells me, "You want to remove all the old stuff and it will always be soft and will chip easily." So I buy a couple gallons of lacquer thinner and steel wool. It really comes off pretty easy. Not too much scrubbing. They told me with the catalyst this finish will be as hard as granite.

My biggest gripe is the supplier I got the finish from didn't tell me I needed a catalyst....$70/quart and I basically wasted a quart......

I have 6 more frames to clean up tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing that, tee. Around here I find that it's not only me that has some unfortunate unplanned incidents. It's how you deal with them that's important. I probably would have used lacquer thinner and instead of steel wool, a match.
