Chilly in the KC area this morning, 32 as I write. My body clock hasn't figured out the time change, it woke up at 'normal time' this morning, but it was way too early. I took a shower and thought, "let's get the day started." but then had second thoughts and climbed back into bed and slept another hour.

We are packed up and ready to head west pretty soon. We both have work to do.

Glad you had a good time Tommy, sorry you had to come back home to the normal routine. I feel the same way, I huff and puff, but all in all, I'm pretty good shape for 62. Those years just take it's toll on these old bodies. how did the judging go, John? If you said, I guess I missed it.

Well, I guess I'd better pack up the computer....later gators!

THIS YEAR I WENT TO BED SATURDAY NIGHT AND GOT UP SUNDAY MORNING ON THE PRE-CHANGE CLOCK AND THEN WENT TO BED SUNDAY NIGHT AND GOT UP THIS MORNING BY THE NEW SETTING. IT SEEMS TO HAVE WORKED OUT WELL AS I HAVE HAD NO TIME HANGOVER.

CLOUDY AND 50 DEGREES IN THE NATIONS, NOTHING ON THE AGENDA BUT AUTO-ROTATION AND ERRANDS.

DARLING WIFE MADE AN APPLE CAKE YESTERDAY THAT HAD TO BE SURGICALLY REMOVED FROM THE PAN. ENDED UP LOOKING LIKE HELL BUT SURE DID TASTE GOOD. THE PROOF OF THE PUDDING--- :-)

LOOKS LIKE BUBBA & BUDDY GOT MORE COVERAGE IN THE UK MEDIA THAN THEY DID HERE. INTERESTING.

Time change. You mean like 59 to 60, 69 to 70 or 79 to 80? That's what I call a time change, Willis.

Had to bring the pup to the vet for the third set of vaccines and boosters this morning. One more set of shots in two weeks and Snoopy will be all set with shots and a tag. Weighed in at 15 pounds. 3 1/2 months old. Got me out of having to nursery-sit so that's good. I'm going to bed and waking at the right times but still I feel like I'm ..........

A friend sent me this - too true:

Do you remember that word? Would you believe the email spell checker did not recognize the word Murgatroyd!?! Heavens to Mergatroyd! Lost Words from our childhood: Words gone as fast as the buggy whip! Sad really! The other day a not so elderly (65) (I say 75) lady said something to her son about driving a Jalopy and he looked at her quizzically and said "What the heck is a Jalopy?" O.M.G. (new phrase)! He never heard of the word jalopy!! She knew she was old.... But not that old.. Well, I hope you are Hunky Dory after you read this and chuckle. About a month ago, I illuminated some old expressions that have become obsolete because of the inexorable march of technology. These phrases included "Don't touch that dial," "Carbon copy," "You sound like a broken record" and "Hung out to dry." Back in the old days we had a lot of 'moxie.' We'd put on our best 'bib and tucker' to' straighten up and fly right'. Heavens to Betsy! Gee whilikers! Jumping Jehoshaphat! Holy moley! We we're in like Flynn' and 'living the life of Riley'', and even a regular guy couldn't accuse us of being a knucklehead, a nincompoop or a pill. Not for all the tea in China! Back in the old days, life used to be swell, but when's the last time anything was swell? Swell has gone the way of beehives, pageboys and the D.A.; of spats, knickers, fedoras, poodle skirts, saddle shoes and pedal pushers..AND DON'T FORGET... Saddle Stitched Pants Oh, my aching back! Kilroy was here, but he isn't anymore. We wake up from what surely has been just a short nap, and before we can say, Well, I'll be 'A monkey's uncle!' Or, This is a 'fine kettle of fish'! We discover that the words we grew up with, the words that seemed omnipresent, as oxygen, have vanished with scarcely a notice from our tongues and our pens and our keyboards. Poof, go the words of our youth, the words we've left behind We blink, and they're gone. Where have all those great phrases gone? ( My Favorite)" Let's all go to the beach Saturday"... Long gone: Pshaw, The milkman did it. Hey! It's your nickel. Don't forget to pull the chain. Knee high to a grasshopper. Well, Fiddlesticks! Going like sixty. I'll see you in the funny papers. Don't take any wooden nickels. Wake up and smell the roses. It turns out there are more of these lost words and expressions than Carter has liver pills. This can be disturbing stuff! ("Carter's Little Liver Pills" are gone too!) We of a certain age have been blessed to live in changeable times. For a child each new word is like a shiny toy, a toy that has no age. We at the other end of the chronological arc have the advantage of remembering there are words that once did not exist and there were words that once strutted their hour upon the earthly stage and now are heard no more, except in our collective memory. It's one of the greatest advantages of aging. Leaves us to wonder where Superman will find a phone booth.. See ya later, alligator! Okey-dokey

Well, we made it home OK. It was cold all the way home, and cloudy once we got to middle of the state (Salina) the rest of the way home. They are saying the "S" word for us again tomorrow into Weds.

All those saying are in my vocabulary, Brad. I use them and my grandkids look at me like I'm crazy....which I may be.

We get home to find #1 GS came over and ate most of the food in the house.....just like normal. Not like we didn't expect it. Took me 30 minutes to clean out the sink...he's not done that before.

Does that mean that I'm now officially old? I recognize all of those 'words' lots of them in the cartoons that I frequently watched. Plus I was pretty much raised by and hung out with older folks. I still will text back a 'groovy' in lieu of an 'okay' or the most often used 'k'..
Freezing cold again here today although it was warm earlier. Was 83 yesterday after starting out cold and raining. We drove to the hills for the day to poke around. I have a lot of photos to go through and sort. Also got the replacement cabinet (yard sale find) in the hammock napping spot. Helped him get the tigershark bumper on the vette at the shop and washed it so it could go home. Man that guy that owns that car really lets it get nasty. I was let down when I saw it. We did a TON of work a couple of years ago to that thing. Frame section replaced, vents in the sides in rear, added aftermarket wide fenders and quarters he wanted, etc. A lot, lot, lot of work. Plus the emblem under the hood that's in paint, in addition to finishing the underside of the hood as well. Thank a cake decorating bag for that trick. It cleaned up pretty nice for just a spit bath. I'm tired. Time for supper.

Hey TB, you like plumbing, right?

Needed to pull the valve in the bathroom faucet. Try the cold water shut off and it was a little stiff. A little extra oomph and it opened right up....err, I mean snapped off. Trip to Home Depot for a new one. Got that installed and all is well in the world.

Getting in a late workout now.

Hope everyone had a great day!

At least it was the knob and not the whole valve that broke off. Had it been me, the valve would have broke and I would have water running everywhere, while I tried to find the main shutoff. I hate f*@king plumbing!
