Hey Guys,

'88 Z52 Coupe, Dark Red.

What color should the stock CORVETTE lettering between the tail lights be?

From GM it comes unpainted, so I'm thinking it should be painted the same color as the car.

I'm getting the new (to me) Targa painted next week, and having the nose and tail shot while I'm at it. Figured the ratty looking emblem needs to be done at the same time.

Thanx,

Mark

Ya ever thought about going this route Mark????

I put the SS Corvette letters on mine and tossed the OEM Badge. It would look good on your color too.

Just a thought. (Sorry thought I had a better picture)

In raw unpainted form, that emblem youre talking about is white or close to it. Itll be ready to go straight on the car as you received it, should be black with silver outline.

Okay.

Black with Silver outline.

Mine had been painted all black at some point (and not very well) so I had to ask.

Thanx!

I though it was supposed to be black - outlined by the body color? On my 88 it is this way

On all the later C4s (91-96) I believe they were all body color with out any contrasting inner color. I am still trying to research this fact.....

On 91+ there is no emblem, it is embossed into the bumper.

The plastic they are made from is white, you can take my word for it if you like, or just look at the pic below:

How about filling the holes and having it painted on in any color you want? That's what I did,,

This is correct for early C4s. Don't even talk to me about trying to find one for light blue metallic ...

My 85 is dark metalic bronz and the letters are all black except on the edge some white shows where it has worn through. Sure that it is original.

If you look at the Corvette brochures of the day, you can clearly see the body-colored outline around the letters.

It's a stepped thing: the body color outline lettering is raised and than the black CORVETTE lettering is raised further.

I'll try and come up with some pictorial examples of some low mileage cars ...
