I got mine from Eckler's about 3 years ago and they still appear new.

If I recall correctly, I had to drill out 2 rivets, 1 on each end to remove the old ones.

The new ones snap onto place with several clips, and I never replaces the rivets. No issues.

Pappy, I've been contemplating doing mine as well. Here is the situation. If you have the old ribbon style window regulators, they are going to break soon. Mine already broke.

I was thinking......I've already had to go in there once to replace a broken locking linkage for the door key. well this time, I want to take the door panel off, replace all of the following while I have the door apart....

1. Window Regulator
2. outer window seal
3. Lock button on the inside
4. Wiper switch
5. That strip along the top of the door panel
6. run a wire for the keyless entry system I just installed

You see? there is a list of crap that you could do.....I should have done it when it when I had the panel off the first time.....how would I know I needed to fix so many things AFTER I buttoned it all back together?

just my .02

My 87 had the ribbon type regs and i never had an issue. Its WAY cheaper to replace an $8 ribbon than to install a used reg which i dont reckon is a better reg in the first place. Its like the 88-96 headlights, anyone who thinks they are a better design than the 84-87 units are playing with themselves.

If it aint broke, dont throw it away and waste money on stuff you dont need, especially when it could be perfectly reliable for many years yet.

Pappy, jhammons has given you some very good advice, the later model regulators are far superior to the ribbon style. All I can add is to get quality w/strip. GM, Corvette Rubber are two of the best. Stay away from Metro.

I think I got mine from Ecklers. Was great except the end rivets were too big, I used some I had laying around instead.

I don't know who produces it for Ecklers... probably the same guys make it for all the vette catalogs.

I just ordered my new outer door seals from Corvette Recycling (a vendor on CF) They have NOS outer seals for a good price. There's a discount code, "DoorSeal", so they are $60 total.

No, Ecklers sucks. They are overpriced and have worse customer support. Try other places first.

Ecklers is the only place *I* prefer. I dealed with midamerica and they are jackasses. I ordered a interior screw kit, 2months went by and still not kit. They said sorry they just got them in when I called and said they would ship them out the next day. I paid for express delivery*more shipping*, cancelled the order and they sent me back the money for the kit but kept my shipping even though I never got the part. Ecklers is always fast and have never had to call them about any problems. Midamerica may give out free magazines but their prices are sky high. Regardless ecklers is more expensive than other places on certain items.
