I'm considering buying a Kwiklift for my garage. I can't afford a good 4 post, and I'm sure for most my needs the Kwiklift would do just fine. They are about $1500 on thier website, but I was wondering what they will sell them for at Carlisle in August?

Anyone have and good or bad stories on the Kwiklift?

I bought my 2 post from them. They have an office in delaware (896,95 and 40 area) have them setup and you can operate them. Similar money I hauled my pro9f on an F150 fullsize pickup I have 10ft ceilings and can walk easy under car(I.m 5'11) I have never regreted the purchase. Quote from my dad(78) who had an old sizzor lift(midrise now) "if I was 10 years younger we would be raising the roof on the garage. I'm still finding uses and do not have to bend over or crawl to do anything. I sit on a roller stool much more comfortable than a creeper

I dunno about them tbh. They raise the car enough to get a creeper under there comfortably, but the problem is their price.

You can get a decent 4 post lift for around $2000 new. and then stand and work under the car comfortably.

I plan on getting a 4 post lift fairly soon.

I've heard people that have the kwiklift love them. I've never used one. My buddy has a pneumatic scissor lift in his garage and that is awesome for working on cars.

I honestly don't know what makes a good/bad lift, but how extreme are the pricing differences? Here is a 4 post lift I saw for not that much more money. It could be crap, but I don't know. Just pointing out some other options:

I don't have a ceiling issue as mine are about 14-16' tall.
I have a wallet issue, not enough green to go around.

I think if I had the money to do a tall lift I'd go with a four post to get the added storage.

this place has some good quality stuff for just a little more than what you are looking at. if you can pick up no taxes or shipping! there 4 posts look pretty sturdy . there are people on CF with his 4 posts- bolted down no problem. I went with 2 post due to having other cars and being able to lift a body off a frame and roll the chasis out.

Very interesting. I don't know the first thing about lifts but the prices are definitely pretty good compared to others around $3500

Easy to set up with a couple extra sets of hands.

Need a 4" slab and 10' ceilings.

And for only $500 more than a quicklift :D

I wonder how you can tell how thick your slab is?
I thought for the 4Post lift slab thickness was not a critical factor?

Any garage floor should be 4" if it's built to code. I made mine 5-5 1/2" reinforced, just because. Drill a hole somewhere if you want to check for sure.

I have a Kwiklift & love it. You can do anything with a KL that you can do with a 2 or 4 post. Yes, you need to be on a creeper, but theres plenty of room to work. Its not at all like being on jack stands. You can do a clutch job or pull a rear end out if you need to. Actually, it brings the height of the engine to a perfect point for easy working while standing.

I paid $1,600. shipped with an Xtra bridge. There was a $99. shipping special and the Xtra bridge only cost me $25.

The raw steel ones start at around $1,000.

Correct, there's no requirement on a 4 post.
The 4" min. is for a 2 post (per the BendPak catalog).

I've heard both pros and cons on GregSmith, have the catalog in front of me. They have a 8,000 4 post for $1995 and a 7000lb for $1695. They do come with a wheel kit which is nine.

There's some really cheap, crappy 4 posts out there. I've seen them at shows and wouldn't get under them on a bet.

The good ones are ETL approved and meet ANSI/ALI ALCTV-2006 specs.

The only bad thing about a 4 post lift is you are screwed when working on suspension pieces. For that reason I'd choose a 2 post lift.

I've used some four post lifts and would not have one. I never completely feel comfortable under one.

The nice thing about Greg Smith is with a 2 hour cruise he can play with the lifts and see the construction. The 8000 lb 2 post is not built the same way the pro 9F is. good way to check them out and see how sturdy or not they are. I spent more and upgraded as I cannot replace my life - a few hundred dollars I can replace! Bottom line buy the lift that suits your current and future uses.
