Many of you guys arent old enough to remember, but a looong time ago Mopars like the Cuda and Super Birds couldnt hardly be given away. Other cars like the AMC S/C Rambler and Javelins had about the same status. We all know the current values of those cars now.

Its gonna take a few years, but the C4 will be worth a good penny one day. At this rate of destruction between turning them into track cars, wrecks, neglect and now the socialists program CFC, there are fewer and fewer everyday.

I was a big second generation Camaro Z/28 guy before getting into Vettes. The later cars, 74-81 had the same status that the C4 has. They were the red headed stepchild of the group. Go look on any selling site and check the price on a nicely kept low mile example of say a 74 Z28 or a 77 Z28 of which there were only approximately 14,000 built. Thyere climbing even in this economic environment. Other examples would be station wagons!! Who ever wanted one? Now theyre being turned into cruisers, and some are pretty damn sweet.

Everyone go out and enjoy your Vettes. But in doing so, keep them maintained and looking their best. Someday you'll have a nice car to hand down to your sons that will also be worth bit.

Hey Chris, the ole ZR-1 earned a 2nd in class at VOTR..... My son leaves tomorrow. Lemme "mourn" his absence for a couple of days :sad3: . I'm getting ready to do a new rear spring and bushings on the ZR. Maybe we can get going on your cars needs too. We can have a "Corvette Garage" weekend at my place!

I can take all the critiquing and ones personal opinion, as we are all allowed to have one. And I will consider your above statement as just that, your opinion, because it sure as hell isnt a true fact. I guarantee you I can make you soil your pants if I give you a ride in my "not a sports car" C5

Ouch!

Actually, the ZR-1 is a pretty fast car right out of the box! Mine has all new Accel injectors and coils in it as well as Stainless Works headers, no cats, B&B "cat back", and a Haibeck prom tune, so its a tad faster than when it was born.

Sorry, John, didn't mean your car in particular. Just a little sarcasm is all. After all, I have an L98 You've got a great looking Z and I bet it's fast the way Chris drools all over it. I'd love to see it in person one day.

My wife is off Tuesday/Wednesday next week. Maybe we can get together.

It would surely have to written in a binding, everlasting contract upon sale that the Z never accumulate dirt on, in or near the car!! I'm only considering it at this point, so I'm in no hurry to sell it. If I do get real serious about it, you can have first crack at it.

Call me when you get around to it. I'm working up towards Westcliffe, so no phone service in the morning. I usually work 1/2 a day everyday, if possible

Hey Chris, I have been considering selling my 92 Z. I want to maybe get into a 67 Nova or Chevelle or something like that. I just miss the lumpy cam sound and pulling 2nd gear with a 4:10 rear..... You could put this car in your garage for $22k with all the take off parts included. It has some nice mods and needs nothing.

Kinda sucks since I got out, I can't just go away for a couple of months and come back with enough money to buy whatever I want.

Well, I have a bad habit of cursing, but while trying to get that POS outta there I think I made up some new ones!! I used a huge pair of channel locks on the back of my snap ring pliers to get enough squeeze on them while my wife fit a screwdriver behind the snap ring. In short, it sucked big time!

I run Amsoil AMO in my ZR-1 because of the zinc additive. Its expensive, so the Z is the only one that gets it.

Thanks for the kind words for my son. I'm gonna get him to become a member here asap. The car is a diamond. Everything works, and that includes the CD player and antenna!!

Jeff,(ya big bully) surely you didnt think his first Vette should be a Z did you? My son is an excellent shot with pretty much anything that fires a bullet, but as far as auto mechanic ability, it didnt rub off to well. I'm his mechanic, and him being in California for the next 2.5 years, I figure a low mile LT1 car would be easier on his wallet should something go wrong. Hey, at least its a stick!!

Anyway, for $13,580. taxes included, I think he did well.

My Son was home this past week from a 9 month deployment and he decided he needed a better car. After considering a few cars in the price range we were looking in, we decided to cruise up to Denver to look at a 95 my wife spotted on the internet.

He finishes up in Virginia in July, stops home for a month, then goes to his permanant duty station in 29 Palms California.

Here is what he's taking with him:
39,000 miles
6speed
Black/Tan

On the way home

Chris, if you really want a yellow Z, I'll sell you mine! I have been aiming toward a Z16 anyway......DO NOT TELL ANDREA!!!! And, if you do get a yellow Z, my masculinity will not be challenged nor compromised by that!!

Why do you guys say cash only for toys? I have had 7 Vettes now and financed 5 of them. If you do it correctly, like through a credit union and buy the car "right", meaning, dont pay more than its worth, whats the problem?

I kinda see it this way..... Why would I take $18k and spend it all in one shot? Why not finance the car, hold onto the cash in a savings account or CD or something of that nature, just make the payments. With excellent credit, the interest rate is negligible anyway. If the time comes to sell, then sell it, pay off the note and pocket the rest..... In the mean time, the $18k would have earned you a little money to boot. In this uncertain economy and with an economy sensitive job, I'd much rather have the cash in a safe place AND a toy or 2 in the garage......knowing all I had to do was sell the car to get out of a jamb....and remember, if the worst happens, you still have the $18k in a safe place that you can draw from to make the payment until the car sold.

Just do it Chris! Just think, when you get next to 99% of the cars on the road, in your mind and heart, you'll know you can whoop em'. When you get your own, you can hammer down on the throttle and REALLY experience the LS6 power. I've owned a few cars in my short pathetic existence, and very few were able to get away from me. With the AH & TC off, you can really find yourself in a shit storm if you're not careful!!

As far as regrets...... for me. No way! It would be an extremely hard decision to sell my Z06 knowing I couldn't have another one in the future. However, I would sell it before I sold my ZR-1..... not because the ZR-1 is better, but, because its a ZR-1. If I had a base LT1 or even an LT4 car, the C4 would be going first. I love my C4's..... on my 4th one, but man, the Z06 is worlds apart from all but the ZR-1.

The ZR-1 is a special car that gives you a special feeling, especially when approaching 7000rpm, but the overall package of my Z06 is tighter and at the same time more nimble. As you know, both of my cars have full exhausts on them and are running what I believe to be the best they can be for what mods they have done to them.

Bottom line, the Z06 is better for daily use, registers a bit higher on the fun-O-meter, and in just about every situation, is superior, except of course in the engine aesthetics department!!! The LT-5 is an absolute work of art in my opinion.

I've had a couple of Lexus, and a couple of BMW's and my Dad has a new Accord. The paint on the BMW's is just about perfect, the Lexus' were a close second to them. My Dads Honda has very nice paint, but not quite as nice as the others. All my Vettes (6) have shown some degree of orange peel. I'd say the worst of the new vehicles I've owned, my 06 Dodge 2500 was the worst.

You should look into a Mac. I love mine. Its amazing how something thats only appx. 6"x6"x2" (Mac Mini) can be better than a giant POS PC. Another good thing about Mac is theres no need for anti virus software, and the tech support is second to none. I'd never go back to a PC.

Going up to Colorado Srings today to drop off the wifes 745Li at the dealer for some warranty work. A 5 year old car with 64k miles on it still under bumper to bumper warranty... thats awesome. Then driving up to Denver in the 93 Ruby to go to the dentist for my wifes bi-monthly check-up. On the way back home we pick up the Bimmer if its ready.

Not exactly.... I just sold my 02 Z06 for $28,700. back in May of this year. My asking price started at $29,900. with HRE 545's on it. I sold it with a set of chrome Z06 wheels on it. I sold the HRE 545's that were on it separately for $1800.

I am seeing some decent Z06 for low-mid 20's now though. I think I sold mine at just the right time.

Ha ha ha !! Not in my house is isnt archaic. Thats how it is. Thats how it should be. I dont play that "I am woman game" around here. My wife is my friend, my partner & my confidant among other things... But she's the woman, I'm the man. Thats how we both like it. Weve been together 19 years & married 13 of them. Theres absolutely no reason the male shouldnt have the last word in his own house. If the decision is the wrong one, then that same man will step up and admit it like a man & apologize for his mistake.

Just because it doesnt work for this "new generation" doesnt mean it doesnt work. I was raised in a household that was run the same way. My parents have been married all my 41 years. I guess it worked for them too! Then theres my grandparents who were married 50+ years rasing 4 children the same way!!!

The example it sets for any children involved is also a positive one. Men are supposed to be men & women are supposed to be women. Theres no gray area. This doesnt omit the compromise portion of the relationship, nor does it negate the other persons perspective or opinion. What it does do, is reinforces where the strength and resolve to make a final decision comes from. I want my son to follow in the same path.

The last thing we want is our sons being spineless, pussywhipped little piles of mush just because their female counterparts are all about equality in the relationship. Theres nothing wrong with being a man and holding true to your word and nothing wrong with being the leader of your family. Thats the problem with todays kids....they have no respect for authority... maybe because they see their own fathers having to walk on eggshells with the mothers because, God forbid mamas feelings are a little bruised.

Sheeesh!!

These are pretty decent quality. Their from Corvette Mike. They are actually OEM/ GM parts that were stripped & chromed. I think they'll last allot longer than the Chinese models that are out there.

Absolutely! The C5 Z06 is a phenomenal automobile. I had an 02 Z & want an 04 Commemorative Edition next. I must admit though, I'm hooked on the ZR-1 and wouldnt mind adding another to the stable,

Dale D you are spot on!
To think that man can have an impact on the earth great enough to cause catastrophic disaster is really quite self centered. The earth is millions of years old (read: MILLIONS). Man has been on the planet for what amounts to a tiny fraction of time in relation to the age of the earth. Of the time man has been on the earth, weve only become an industrialized civilization in the last couple of hundred years. So that means our time here in the last 200 years or so will basically end the world.....

The planet is going to do what she will, with or without man living on it. The earth has survived millions of years of meteor bombardment, huge amounts of radiation, an ice age etc. etc. Man will be loooong gone and the earth will be here for billions of years more.

I think the time factor is what most people cant get a grasp on. To fathom a million years is hard to do when we as humans, only survive for an average of 85 years or so. Even when the end of the age of man comes, and it will, the time we as humans spent on the earth will still only amount to a "tic" on the clock. Hardly enough to damage the planet enough to cause its demise.

No nice ones are selling for that unless you include ones with salvage titles or "needs work".
Anything selling between the 15-17k range are going to need work, plain and simple.

Thats not 100% accurate Ron. I paid $15,9. for mine last October. It didnt "NEED" anything. Title is clean and so is the Carfax. Now, in my case, I tend to be a little anal about my cars. Consequently, I put a set of injectors & coils in it, along with any other parts I thought might need attention, before they actually did need attention. The car had 45k miles on it when I purchased it and no its not perfect, with normal rock chips and a some spider webbing on the paint here and there.... but, over all, its a "very nice" ZR-1. The interior is near perfect and the carpets are even about a 9 out of 10.

Not tooting my own horn here, but the point is, that if someone else bought my car at the time I did, someone w/o tools or mechanical ability, they wouldnt have had to do anything to it at all and could still be driving it today just the way they bought it.

I generally do not believe in any "cure in a bottle". If something isnt right with an engine, then theres almost always a mechanical reasoning to it. Dont waste your money and just fix the problem.

On my 92 ZR-1 - $4,800.
On my 93 Ruby- $2,000.

I do all my own work & buy as many good used parts as possible. If I had to pay labor on this stuff.......

no. the car should still be covered.

** Roadside assistance warranty (months/miles) 36/36,000

you see, that warrantee sticks with the car, period. The key here will be when it was originally sold, act now before you get any farther. If it was sold in August or Sept of 2005, you are running smack into that 36 month warrantee.

Run, don't walk to the dealership.

Absolutely! The 3/36 covers it if youre still within the time/mileage specs.
