We have some neighbors with whom we have what I consider
to be an ideal relationship. While we exchange pleasantries
and help each other out when things come up, generally we
each go about our business independent of the other and
don't spend a lot of time on one another's patio.

Well, they held a backyard wedding for their first born today.

Knowing that the wedding was approaching, I caught up on
routine yard work and added some extra brushing around the
perimeter. Put some things away and built a lattice fence
to obscure work in progress on a shed.

It made for a nice improvement but didn't take care of every
detail. Call it a twenty-footer, squint and everything looks
fine. All in all, I was content that I'd done my part to help.

This morning I look outside to see that someone at the
neighbor's place had set up the guest chairs - they were
all facing our house.

I am sure it was a classic case of myopia, all they could
see were the trees along the property line that would
nicely frame the ceremony - failing to notice the pile of
project lumber and off-cuts in the background that would
stand out prominently in the photos if it remained there.

Some hours later, the view was improved.

Wedding has gone off smoothly. Guests have eaten and now
I hear the band playing - time to go enjoy the entertainment.

Ken, You are a great gentleman. Hope your neighbor poured a can of beer into a chilled glass for you.

Sounds great - how was the wedding?

Would have been an opportune time to blast some deathmetal while running the chainsaw with no shirt on.

I'm thinking Billy Idol's "White Wedding" may have been appropriate.

But then I'd need a place to rest the bottle and some
friends to share it with.

As it happens, refreshment is something that is never
lacking at the neighbor's. They run a home-based business
and distribute imported wine around the province.

The nature of the business means, or at least meant, a lot
of entertaining. The summer barbecues next door have been
cut back in the past couple of years. Last night harkened
back to the days of yore.

On such nights there isn't much hope of going to bed at
the usual time. The options then are to call the cops
to shut them down, sit and stew at home or go over for
the food, beverages and society.

Turns out that the photographer was responsible for the
chair placement - he thought it would make for a great
setting. Like I said, myopia was to blame - usually
a good photographer doesn't fall into the trap.

The thing about our yard is that the neighbors on the
other side built an addition onto the back of their home
several years ago. Changing it from a rectangular shape
to an 'L' shape with large windows in the new addition
facing across both back yards. Great for watching the
summer sun rise over the trees in the morning - provided
you ignore whatever project happens to be underway in
Slalom4me's back 40.

Man, they've lived there long enough to know better.

A wedding for one of their children was held in the back
yard, too, come to think of it. Because of past history,
I was less inclined to make a contribution in that instance.

Hope everyone's done for the season because I've got some
projects coming home in a few days.

So they are really PITA neighbors who deprive you of sleep but offer you an occasional "Hi" and a glass of wine as a consolation prize.

Dismantle your Corvette in plain view, I say.

Nude croquet is more effective. Make sure to play some obnoxious music while you're at it.

Got it covered.

Rolled a hail-damaged E34 out onto the driveway a week
or so in advance of the occasion.

We went over in the evening after many had changed into
their civvies, so I am unsure who the BMs were.

Aside from the bride and the groom's sister (neighbor's
daughter) - whom are both attractive, intelligent and
accomplished young women, no one else from the wedding
party caught my eye.
