So when I purchased my boat in 2000, I got the 225 Merc outboard. The difference between the 200 and the 225 was the motor went from a 2.5L block to a 3.0L block...... Stock motor on the boat was a 150 at the time, most people went 175s.

So, in typical fashion, after the warantee ran out, I had to boost the motor. I took the top end apart, this is a two stroke so that inlcudes the intake, and sent it out to this guy: www.madefi.com to work some magic on it.

I got the parts back and re assembled. I picked up about 300 RPMs and much better hole shot. Figure I picked up about 50HP give or take....

SO, I was out this weekend in my "fishing boat" tooling along at 1/2 throttle or so....

This guy comes up next to me in one of these "fast" looking boats. Pulls up and throws down the throttle....starts moving up on me and waves with a big smile...

So, I return the favor, I put the hammer down, and pick up about 1500 RPMs. I'm screaming along at 6000 RPMs and walk him. I smile back and wave.

Sleeper boats, love it....

You can tell I'm bored.....writing this...

I have a 200 Merc. Whenever these little flys come by I hit the throttle down and they leave me like I'm standing still. Note to self, leave the throttle at 5000 RPM. Forget about it.

Boat = Hole in water that you throw money at.

Had a 24' Cig w/460 ford/berkley.

Sold it (gave it away, almost) and bought my vette.

I finally made a WISE decision in my life.

Id love to have an old open bow ski boat but it looks like an expensive proposition. Come close to it a few times but never pulled the trigger

Tow vehicle
Trailer
Place to store
Upkeep, licensing and .....lotsa gas.

I figure that when I calculate insurance, maintenance, repairs, etc...

It cost me somewhere between $500-700 per use.

I simply don't use it enough, but it's not worth selling either.

Should have invested the money I spent on that boat 6 years ago....stupid stupid stupid.

Boats are great. For other people to own. And for me to borrow.

Come to think of it, I haven't been behind the wheel of a boat since I broke the drive on my friend's outboard. Lake was a little low that day...

That looks like the same pic of the sailboat I saw a couple of years ago. A boat that doesn't leave the house. Down here we call it a yard boat.

LOL

More of a smaller version of this:

Not stupid at all, it's what they call a take-a-part.
I'll trailer it there disassembled, and assemble it on the beach/lauch platform.

kinda like this one I helped build.

Other tris fold up. Easier to rig, but they weigh more.
