MTVette Center caps - size question

I have a 92 with sawblade wheels. When I race, I put on my MT ET street radials, which are mounted on earlier C4 wheels, from an '89 (I think). See photo below for details of the wheels.

My old wheels don't have wheel caps, and I'd like to improve the look of the car by getting some. I tried to move the wheel caps from my rear sawblades, but the newer caps don't fit the older wheels - the older wheels need slightly smaller caps. Does anybody know where I can get the right ones, and how to be sure that the ones I buy will fit?

I'm pretty sure the centercaps got bigger in 1991. So anything older than that should work.

Check out Ecklers. They have the different sizes by year on the center caps (expensive). Also contact a forum favorite vette2vette (I think that's it). He may be able to hook you up. Don't forget parts on ebay.

I'm a little confused on which rim you're talking about when you just say "older".

Are you looking for this "style" centercap:

Or are you looking for the caps that fit the 88-89 sawblades that fit in with a security screw?

It must be the kind with the security screw. If you carefully look at the rear wheels in the picture of my car, they are the same as those in the picture you posted. Also, since my wheels aren't new and shiny, I'm looking for some used caps, if possible. Certainly not glossy ones, maybe something with a matte finish.

I've got 4 glossy black caps that came with my fake GS wheels. NO logo. I took my OEM sawblade caps, and put them in the black wheels.

You're welcome to them, for postage.

Ah, you mean like this:

As you can see, they also fit the Dymags of the period. Difficult to find and when you can, not cheap. You'll also need the McGard security bolt set unless you intend to find an allen or torx head.

Your drag wheels are from a 90.

I'm inclined to agree with Jeff. I can't see the back ones real well, but it doesn't appear to have the recessed lip that holds the bigger center cap in. In 90 the rims looked the same as the 88-89, but had exposed lugnuts. If you don't have a little screw hole in the rim for the larger center cap then you have the later style rims.

I might have a couple of 90's caps sitting in my shed. If that a 90 wheel let me know and I'll try to dig them up.

I'm glad somebody recognized them. They're certainly NOT the same kind as the wheels posted by rayquayle.

I'm in agreement with Jeff - they are from a 1990. The web site he posted has a confirming photo.

Tommy, if you have a set of caps, I'd be happy to pay postage for them.

I ordered my racing wheels specifically w/o center caps.

NCCC makes you pull them, as well as trim rings on the older cars, for autoxing and road racing which can dislodge them, not to meantion brake heat melting them. Not really an issue at the drags though.

Tommy - you're awesome! The caps arived yesterday. As you indicated, they're not perfect, but that way, they match my rims perfectly. Thanks a lot!!

Brake heat caused the tabs on my aftermarket center caps to lose their tension, and the caps started rattling around loose. I know it was brake heat because it only happened on the front ones. I like the look better without them anyways. Sort of a useless feature.
