Lauren is 24 years old today - my wife and I took her out for a short Sunday drive and met with some of the guys for breakfast at the West Chester Diner.

She's running well for a car that's now in it's mid-20s: this late fall weather makes the TPI really happy. She's also looking great...

...next on the agenda is preparing for an attempt at a NCRS Performance Verification (PV) next September. The tough thing about a PV is not only does everything have to work, but everything has to work as the engineers intended: something I'm willing to bet that no C4 attained 100% from the factory.

Congrats. I know you've spent a lot of time on little things for NCRS. Hope it works out for you!

So, almost exactly 20% through production.

Outstanding - Happy Birthday!

I was just reading about a '57 with 711,000 miles on it, so you're just getting started ;-)

115736 here, so I'm waiting till Feb 85. All this time I thought it was made in 84.

Right now it'd old and worthless, but in one year, it'll be a classic! (and worthless).

Ah, an owner of a mid-1985 - when they actually figured out how to build them...

Examples of PV checklist?

Dyno #'s? ET's? If a car doesn't do that off the lot, whatcha' gonna' do to GET it that way, and keep OEM specs?

Ah, there's the rub. The list is unbelievably picky (there are perhaps a hundred items) - you have a long list to go over while parked and then there's a ten mile test drive.

Some examples:

"...Corvettes had dual horns, one high note and one low note ... check operation of the horns in four places around the circumference of the button."

"...the owner will sharply accelerate (full throttle) and demonstrate appropriate power and lack of stumble or misfire."

All the lights have to work. The stereo must function perfectly. There must be no leakage in the HVAC system. There can, of course, be no trouble codes.

With any single problem, you have 15 minutes to fix it. Fail to fix or have another problem and its game over. It's probably the toughest thing in the NCRS.

wow. The PV is tough... down right anal, really. It makes me honestly suspect if a new C4 would have passed those tests... I mean... they came off the assembly line with stumbles and broken horns.

I am sure Lauren will pass. No question.

Happy Birthday!

It is, however, a real indicator of quality - if a Corvette has a Duntov, McClellan, or Hill award a component of those awards is a PV and what you've got is a guarantee of a very nice car where everything actually works...
