I enjoy participating in Tommy's music threads so much that I thought I'd start one of my own. I love so many different kinds of music and jazz is among the types I love the most. I hope I'm not alone here....
San Lorenzo - Pat Metheny Group Is there an emotion that this song doesn't touch? Mood Indigo - Duke Ellington My favorite jazz composer. Thelonious Monk - Straight, No Chaser Stan Kenton - Intermission Riff Maynard Ferguson - Pagliacci Jean-Luc Ponty - Egocentric Molecules Bela Fleck & the Flecktones - Sinister Minister Weather Report - Birdland You can't listen to this and be depressed. Benny Goodman - Sing Sing Sing I love the clarinet. Woody Herman - Blues in the Night Another clarinet master. Two jazz mega stars collaborating on a song by one of my favorite composers, George Gershwin. Ella Fitzgerald & Louie Armstrong perform Summertime from Porgy & Bess. Billie Holiday - Strange Fruit A song as tragic as her own life, about some horrendous but all too true events that took place in her time. My favorite jazz vocalist, without a doubt. One more by this magnificent lady - Lady Sings the Blues Lionel Hampton - Stardust |

Great thread, outstanding stuff!
I have always dug Flim & the BB's - their musicianship is impeccable, and they were pioneers in the digital recording age. A good idea to bring one of their CD's along if you're shopping for a sound system. Here's a sample: http://bradprestonmusic.com/Music/LightAtTheEndOfTheTunnel.mp3 |

I seen Tom Scott in concert, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones twice.
Bela comes on stage and says " We're gonna play a little music for you. We're not really sure what it is". |

Just got back from a Sunday dinner with my wife and her grandmother. Music provided with two pieces, a bass and a sax. They layed down some pretty heavy tunes for just two guys.
