I was thinking that since GM stock is so low now, I could sell the Vette and invest that money straight into GM Stock, hope the bailout works and stock prices go back up one day to $35/share. Then buy a new Vette when things are good!

The bailout probably won't work, but you might see some artifically higher stock prices from the price fixing and speculation, at least for a short period of time.

GM is poison. The management team is not good. Bankruptcy is in their future.

But I have thought about buying some Ford. An American automaker is likely to survive this mess, and Ford would seem to be the one.

The stock market right now isn't any better than going to a casino and gambling; in fact I'd be willing to bet your odds at a Casino are better then making money off GM Stock. A friend of mine won $80K in Atlantic City last month. Wish I was him....

I just got back from having lunch at the casino.

The free beers are only $20 each.

I knew a co-worker who would win hundreds every week at the Jai-Alai fronton but I never knew how many thousand it took him to win it.

P.S. At the first of the year I jumped back into the S&P 500 index shares. I'm down about 13% so far. Good thing I'm looking for a long term gain.

Money can still be made just not everyplace. I picked up Workstream Inc. a couple weeks ago for .09 now its .22. I'm thinking it's about time to dump it but that's hard to do when it's still going up almost 10% a day. Obviously I am looking for short term quick gain high risk stuff and treating it like a trip to the casino. Go in with this much money and expect to loose it all, if I win have a party. I just don't get the free drinks. Next one I am playing with is Kenexa Corporation. Will have to see if I get as lucky with that one. I figure labor market should come back first then maybe if I don't loose it all I will start messing around with renewable energy, something solar out in CA sounds like a plan.

GM will have to lose their management team before they can win. GMs poison is their corporate culture. It's been getting more and more toxic in the last 35~40 years. Back in the day, they were called "the blue suits." A metaphor for men (and I suppose women) who grew up learning nothing by the "GM Way." Totally drunk off the Kool-Aide.

Chrysler and Ford do have good teams in place... no question.

I put money into an IRA that closely matches the S&P. Work matches every dollar I put in, and yet it's still dropping! That means without matching, I'd have less than half of what I put in.

Now if only Ford could produce a profitable flagship that beats the Corvette on price and performance, GM's death would be complete.
