Hi gents. New to the site - from the UK.
A wealth of knowledge here, so I thought I'd ask a question. Will aftermarket headers for the LT1 fit the L98 engine? I've a chance to get some at a good price over here. Thank and I look forward to posting further when I've read all of the entries I can!! :thumbright: |

Good question. I am not sure of the answer, but I "think" they will interchange. Do not buy them until someone smarter than me chimes in

I would look at the gasket sets at your local parts store to compare port shape-size. Aloha

It depends upon both the headers and the type of L98. You have an '88? If so, it should have D-port heads so that's in your favor. Do you know what brand the LT1 headers are?

I have more questions than answers. But it may help you.
Will the external EGR hook up to them? Will the smog tubes hook up to them? (Assuming you even need the smog headers.) |

Emissions hookups are the real issue.
Here's my LT1/4 headers I bought from Exotic Muscle |

Another issue may be interference/contact between primaries
and the L98's fuel supply & return line segments that run from the area of the fuel filter (beneath the pass side footwell) and the fuel rail fittings at the front of the engine. The fuel lines for the LTx run up vertically back near #6 & #8 then over to the rear of the intake manifold (rather than along the frame rail and up the front of the block in the case of the L98.) Larger diameter primaries are frequently used for LTx headers - 1-3/4 or 1-7/8. Because of this difference in the location of the fuel lines, header layouts for LTx engine likely anticipate having greater room for #2 & #4 primaries to exit from the flange and snake down under the car. Using such headers on an L98 may require changes to the fuel line routing. ultraviolet70's OEM L98 fuel lines mrc24x's approach of fuel line relocation for a TPI-style intake 98Red's approach for an HSR ** ===================================================== ** TJM's L98. An example of #2 primary interference with the fuel lines. (Close proximity to suspension control arm pivots, too.) . |

I'd put some heat wrap on that!
