I find it fascinating how similar her tragic death is to Mark Donahue's tragic death over 30 years ago.

She hit her head skiing. About an hour later, fell ill with a severe headache, died two days later.

Mark Donahue was tire testing in South Africa, he was driving an F1 car. The car wrecked when a tire blew out. The car veered off the track, down a slight slope and under a wire fence. IIRC, the wire fence was basically a piece of wire cable about 2' off the ground. Mark went under it, and it clipped the top of his helmet. It was not, on the surface, a serious injury.

The next day, he collapsed and died from an aneurysm.

We all got to go. It's just a head scratcher when it seems like it's just a minor incident. We see racing tumble and rolls all the time. When Dale Sr and one I witnessed, John Nemechek, went into the wall, it looked survivable. Sometimes ya just don't know. Falling off roofs/ladders, slipping in the shower, getting juiced; It all just takes a second. Live a good life everyday. Then you'll have no regrets. Of course, when you dead, you don't give a shit about it anyway.

It find it fascinating that everyone makes it a big deal when a celebrity dies, as if they're a public servant or something. Yes it's unfortunate, but I don't want to watch montages on the news of her.

I thought about Donohue, too, and also Sam Kinison - same deal. A shame on all 3 counts.

Damn well said Kevin.

I don't find it fascinating though, I think it's just stupid. But Then I think the celebrity worship is stupid.

Up at the lake (Tahoe) at least 3 people got killed in avalanches, 3 girls working at the sloped died from carbon monoxide sleeping in their cars, and acouple hit trees.
Other than the day after news, you don't hear about it.

And it's always brought up on the forms when an amateur driver dies on the track. Yea, bad for friends and family but for me, so what.
40,000 people get killed in their cars every year and the news isn't showing it everywhere. But, Oh, one celebrity gets it..............

I never heard of her before anyway.

If I remember right, actor Clint Walker got a ski pole thru his heart and survived. One tough guy, I think. Shame about the girl, though.
