i just got a pair of these Transitions lenses:
www.drivewearlens.com They work really well. I'd rate them up with the Serengeti Drivers that, IMO, are the best. AND I got them for 1/3 the price that the asshats at PearlVision or LensCrafters charge. |

Here's the deal, 3 years ago the DMV said i need glassed to drive.Bought the first pair at LensCrafters and since I buy the bendable titanium ( the most expensive, but you can sit on them & they sprng back) the glassed with the top lenses were $430 for regular glasses, not sun.
Now they're scratched and I'm sitting in PearlVision waiting on an exam. I picked up a Reader's Digest and they have an article on good deals and customer service on the internet - www.39dollarglasses.com, Hummm, sounds cheesy. So, I get a quote from PV. Hi dollar frames - $210 SV Polycarb lenses 139 anti reflective coating 80 $429 So, WTF, I went on 39dollar, same type titanium frames, anti reflect coating, polycarb lenses - $123.95 shipped I gambled $124 & bought them, they're identical to my old titanium frames, same lenses etc. When I got the new sunglasses, I went back to 39dollar. The Transitions Driveware sunglasses were over $500 in town. I paid $178 shipped with free hardcase. No more LensCrafters or PV for me. |

Brian, what the hell is off the shelf 200? Never heard of it but, I don't know shit about glasses. If any one wants bitchen driving glasses(non-perscription), I'd get Serengetti Driver's. I had them for racing. They're better than anything I've ever worn. Walmat carrys them at $90. |

I do need to see an eye doctor again
I need the 200's for walking around now 300's for reading! While we're on the subject. Do you know where to get sports eyeglasses? Had my fly off my head last night while I was doing a spinning back kick (Tae Kwon Do) |

No, I don't know where to get sports glasses.
But I do have a purple belt (one below brown) stuffed in a closet somewhere. |

I couldn't afford any prescription ones so I got these:
Best part is they shade without using lenses, so my friends can't etch their names into em anymore. |

That Tae Kwon Do stuff is very hard on glasses. Many years ago, I was changing a tire, and one of the lug nuts was frozen. I didn't have a long pipe to slip over the wrench, but I did have a block of wood just the right height. I put the wrench in place, then propped it up on the block of wood, and then jumped on it, very Tae Kwon Do-like. The wrench flew up and broke my glasses. Meanwhile, the lug nut didn't budge. |

Har! It never bothered me that Elton plays for the other team - if it wasn't for him, I probably would've quit playing piano when I was a teenager. They used to put on a helluva show back in the day. He's touring now with Billy Joel - we saw them a few years back, good show. But the outlandish glasses are history. Back on topic - I gotta order me some of those progressives, they look like just the ticket. |

Yea Brad, if you're talking about the Transitions, I had them on yesterday a.m., it was cloudy, they were yellow and made the lower light stuff sharper. The sun came out and they changed to copper in thecar. The more I wear them, the more I like them. |

My transitions suck,,,, outside in the direct sunlight they work fine. Inside the car they don't darken. What good is that ?? So I spent big bucks and got some prescription RayBans and just swap em out.

I was just reading that regular transition lenses are somewhat thwarted by the windshield, hence the attraction of the Drivewear lenses.
Bill, do they list Drivewear as an option somewhere in the ordering process? I can't seem to find anything regarding Drivewear on the 39dollar site (but then again, I need glasses - LOL!). |

I've never had the regular Transitions, Dads90 mentioned. I do know that the Drivewear's are really good behind a windshield & not dark at all. To take a look at pricing on 39D, you have to start an order, fill in the prescription (even a fake prescript will work). The next step after that will give you a dropdown list of lenses. Assuming that you're in the sunglasses section. I has these glasses on at the racetrack yesterday. It went from bright sun to cloudy back & forth all day. And I was in and out of cars all day on the track. Never took off the glasses. One note: these glasses are not dark tinted at all, they seem very light but totally take away the glare. Disclamer: I really like 'em. Your experience may vary. (My whiner protection)Hee hee. |

Well, my transitions are old school. Probably why they don't work good in the car. If there is better out there I guess I should research these as well.
