My 92 has the factory exhaust, does anyone have input about aftermarket exhaust setups.

That's almost like asking what color you C4 like.

A lot of guys will say Corsa, they're very nice but cost $1,200 or whatever. But they are Stainless. I'll leave it to the guys that have them to describe them.

If you're going to change, what do you want? Actually, how loud.

My 92 has chambered catbacks which eliminated the resonator and both mufflers. It's loud in the lower gears but barely louder at 70mph than stock. No resonance. The system's under $500 but it's not stainless steel which I didn't care about.

White. I'm probably not going to change it for a while. Where there any performance differences.

Ha, yes, a drop in fuel mileage since now that I can hear it, I put my foot in it harder.
Seriously, I didn't even look for performance increases when I bought, just wanted pipes that sounded a little like my 67's side pipes. I don't plan any perfoemance mods on this car.

One thing I like about this system, it has black p/c LT1 tips which is what I wanted.

I've got the 3" B&B system, and I like it ok. (It was on the car when I got it)
I do have the original exhaust, and was thinking of maybe deleting the mufflers and trying that for a while, or, get the chambered exhaust that BillH referenced!

Did it give you the sound you were looking for?
The side pipe sound is Exactly what want on mine...

I have an '89 with Hooker headers and straight pipes, was run back to the stock L98 catback. Lots of resonance and too loud, sounded like a truck. I ended up buying a used stock LT1 catback, or should say axle back, system. I love it now, almost no resonance at all, sounds great. You might want to look into doing something between the manifolds and the axle, and keep the axle back system from just in front of the rear diff. It is stainless and will likely last forever, excellent performance, great sound IMO.

Straight pipes here.

But I bought a 3in B&B for when the supercharged stroker goes in with headers.

The sound is sort of like the side pipes but not as loud. And it exits at the rear, not by your left ear. The chambered section has some X shaped baffles welded in whete the sidepipes have nothing inside. And your exhaust is going thru the cats first.
But I really like the sound AND I really like that in 6th at 70, I can't feel any resonance.
I do short shift under 2,000 around the cops but so far, have not even had them glance my way when I do.

The pipes with LT1 tipped muffler eliminators are p/n324127 at www.corvettecentral.com - $499
SS twin tipped are also there.

I have some install tips if anyone ends up getting a set including painting the entire system with Duplicolor Hi Heat Ceramic before installing.

One thing I just remembered, I did feel a little vibration in my heels on the floorboard the first day I drove the car.
After the first day, I didn't notice it again, go figure.

Thanks! I'd definitely like the install tips please sir!

What do you think about using my stock exhaust, minus the mufflers? The tips are in good shape, and I would paint the entire system prior to installing. Think it would be too loud, or have excessive drone, etc?
Thanks again!

A good exhaust shop can cut off your tips and bend some eliminators. A set of LT1 tipped elims is $145.
I've never tried them but, it runs in my mind that some guys didn't like them or got some drone, but I really don't know.

If you decide to get the complete system, I can post how I installed mine.

My car had a Borla on it when I bought it. Sounded decent, but definately had that annoying resonance in 6th on the highway. I usually just stayed in 5th.

It rusted and leaks, so much for the million mile warranty.

David, I am very happy with the sound. Loud but not obnoxious and the resonance inside is not bad at all.

I'm considering elims because it's cheap. I'd do new tips. Is it possible to go back to stock easily and cheaply if it ends up being too loud for my tastes?

Very easy to go back to stock. Just have them cut the weld for the new pipe and weld the stock mufflers back on. Don't let them cut the tips off your stock mufflers, supply new tips for the eliminators. I found the Magnaflow tips on ebay. Should be about 1/2 hr labor.

ps-Bill, loved your comment. I was doing the 1/2 shaft joints and hubs when I took the picture.

I have the Corsa. It sounds very nice.

Due to "slight" variations in engine performace between your Corvette and mine you may not get the same sound. This however is a very minor point and easily fixed.
