Good Morning CGs!

Well, it's early, but here I am on my day off up at my regular time. Baby fussed once around 5:30 and that was pretty much it for me. Sucks when you get in a routine and can't sleep in. Such is life.

Worked on the 79 a bit yesterday. Ran into a few small issues. Turns out the engine has been rebuilt and had some aftermarket parts put on it. Not cheap stuff, either. Edelbrock intake and carb, headers, polished oil pan, billet pulleys, polished timing cover. Of course when they put the timing cover on, they left off the timing mark tab. WTF. So as we were turning over the crank to find TDC, noticed it wasn't turning...felt stripped. Uh-oh. Turns out the billet pulleys appear to be thicker than stock and the genius who put them on didn't use longer bolts. So that added to the excitement. Got it worked out after a few trips to the hardware store, though. I made a few mistakes setting up the distributor (hey, I'm new to this stuff!) but I should get it taken care of today after reading some more online. BTW, youtube videos are great for that!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

I'm just tired today. Wished I'd stayed in bed this morning. But I've been at the shop since 5:30am. Too much graphics stuff to get caught up on.

About 12:30 we're gonna start wet sanding, then buff the 79' Looking forward to that.

Ya'll have a good day.

Looking forward to hearing how that '79 runs, Matt!

Friday couldn't come soon enough! Had a rough couple of days with 5 headaches - hopefully whatever weather system is coming will blow through here, as it's driving me nuts.

Have a good one, everybody!

Happy Friday!

Good luck with the 79 Matt! Looking forward to the updates!
Hope everybody gets to feeling better..

Been a long week here. Last Friday at work, so that's kinda strange!! Guess it's 8 days from now and I'll be headed to MO. We did get a nice house lined up in Columbia, so that's a big relief. We also put our house here up for lease with a property mgmt group on Wed, so that's done...
I've got a list a mile long of 'things to do' this weekend...gonna hit the ground running when I get home this afternoon!

Y'all have a good day!

I hear ya (Well, not really).

Both of my ears are plugged due to the weather.
Feckin' high pressure from Canaduh. (The SOs Canadian, so no grief from the Great White North please)

This weather system is gonna stick around until Monday, so I guess it moves out of Mn Sunday.

Going to cut the grass today (My day off), first time in 4 weeks.
We've had great weather here until Tuesday, first rain in over 3 weeks.

Short day for me today. Loaning my kid the lawnmower. I'll help him by weed whacking while he cuts. Then the rest of the day I'm going to play with the vettes and see if I can take them both to the drags tonight. My wife wants to run the 91 so I'll take the 90 and see if I can catch a couple of them off the line. If I lose I have a good excuse. 250hp. Might as well run em, They're just collecting dust sitting in the yard.

Good morning guys & gals!
When did you get a 79 Mat? Between my internet down and the flood of 09 in Ga I missed most of the news this week.
I've got water damage in about 2/3 of the house, spent all week so far removing carpet, flooring, etc. I wouldn't wish this on anybody!
Good luck at the drag strip Tommy. Hope nothing breaks.

Well, gotta get to it.
Have a good day,
Joel

Morning all, not much happening here. Weather went from the 90's to the 60's in one day. Babysitting the granddaughters tonight so I'm getting ready for a hectic night. Mike you're only talking about Eastern Canada, they don't count Good luck at the drags Tommy, let that '90 fly. Brad take 2 aspirins and 2 shots of whiskey; fixed. Glad you're OK Joel. I can remember cleaning my parents basement when it flooded, what a mess. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Oh no, joel!

So sorry to hear that. What a total drag.

I hope you can get cleaned up and back to normal quickly.

79 is up and running. Got the distributor set correctly to fire up. Timing is still off a few degrees, but good enough to drive on for now. Test drive went well. Goes & stops - that's about as much as I can ask! Probably replace the front D/S caliper eventually. P/S was already replaced before so I might as well. Got a few wires to track down in the engine compartment that are loose/broken/cut, etc. Starter might suffer from heat soak. Need to adjust D/S headlight bucket. So little things here and there

Sounds good, though. Has LT headers and muffler eliminators. I thought it would be loud. It's not. At idle it's throaty and sounds good on acceleration. My 89 is louder that the 79...weird, huh?

Dad got a chance to drive it today and he liked it, so that's a start...lol.

Floods are bad...everything stinks from the silt and crap. People may say "Oh, it's fresh water", but it's stinky. You have to tear the wallboard off and replace the insulation.

Well,I checked out both the vettes and took them both on a good test run. Hope it doesn't rain tonight. The skies are getting cloudy. Sorry to hear about the flood damage.
