09:30 to 06:00 AM for 7 years. 1980-1987. There was a bar close to home that opened at 07:00AM and another beer joint at 09:30 AM that I frequented. Of course I would get a little loose before I even went to work.

The gate at the nursery acted up last evening at closing. Fortunately the gate/fence people were on their way home from a job and they stopped in and fixed the problem. Sue and I are both keeping the doctors and medical insurance companies busy. Doctors offices didn't have clearance. Insurance company said they need 5-15 days to clear a proceedure. Their cost saving measures wind up creating delays. Multiple mechanical issues need attention. Pushing most of it back till after vacation. We'll only be an hour away so if something does mess up badly we can get home to deal with it. My blood pressure has been getting better but you'd never know it by the way I feel. Of course Sue does her fair share to keep it elevated. This getting old shit is getting old. Very warm today (80's) but a decrease in temps is in the works. Looks like it will be in the 60's in the Keys next week and 50's at the house.

Outstanding pic Gris.... that was even before they had color photography...

Matt I remember I once had a job that started at 8pm in the evening and I got off at 6 am... hated it... another was from 11 pm to 7 am..... first one was delivering gasoline to stations overnight and the second one was stacking 50# bags of sugar in huge square stacks for GW Sugar Co.... no heat in the warehouse...you had to ride up and down the conveyer belt to get on or off the stack.... the guys I worked with were all Latino and American Indians.... they would smoke dope and Hash all night..... great job....

hope your job is better then dat....

Sun is out so just putting one foot in front of the other... think spring Guru's....

MIDNIGHT MATT? THAT SOUNDS HARD TO ADAPT TO. THE ONLY TIME I WAS ON DUTY NIGHTS I NEVER DID GET COMFORTABLE WITH IT.

IT'S ZERO ON THE FRONT PORCH, ONE DEGREE AT TAHLEQUAH, CLEAR, LIGHT WIND, 18 THE PREDICTED HIGH.

I'M GETTING CABIN FEVER; THE ONLY PLACE I GO IS TO THE DOG PEN AND BARN.

GGS YOGI HAS TURNED THREE, A DELIGHTFUL LITTLE BOY :-)

Good Morning CGs!

Another cold day in the negatives here. Kids will have e-learning due to the weather. They never cancelled school when I was a kid but we didn't have laptops like the Jetsons, either.

I switched back to midnight shift yesterday so I'll pop in here and there to see how everyone is doing.

TB - hope you're feeling better.

Hope everyone has a great day!

7 here, lower tonight then it starts climbing by a hair till next week. I'm finding all the drafts in the house during this, hard to find a spot where it dont feel like cold air is blowing across me. Working on about 4 hours of sleep so junk ain't getting done today, either. I did some things but not a lot. This is hibernating weather.

Hey guys, Cold here but no snow. The crap that was tickling my throat has moved down into my lungs. Hacked and coughed half the night. Finally at around 4am I got up (after being up about 20 minutes hacking) and took some night time cold medicine. After about 30 minutes I slept like a baby until almost nine. My chest and stomach hurt from the hacking. I feel like a truck ran over me. Daytime medicine has kept me from hacking as much today. Just taking it easy today

it is snowing here now.... we are in the guts of winter...

Marcus, did you reap any benefits from the oyster stew? Keep on keeping on. That's what I always do. I do my best to maintain a positve outlook though at times that can be a challenge. Happiness and peace is all I seek. Seeking means you have to look for it.

BETTER THAN THREE INCHES OF SNOW. NEVER DID WARM UP, THREE DEGREES. TOMMY, CAN WE COME LIVE WITH YOU?

OUR GOVERNMENT IN ACTION:

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is actively recruiting workers who suffer "severe intellectual" disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website.

Hey guys, -8 when we got up...well the first time, decided it was too clod and went back for another hour and a half, -3 then. We had a makeup b-ball game last night. when it got done I hit the remote start and let it run for 15 minutes before we went out and it was still freaking cold. Shivered all the way home.

Today we were relaxing when #3 GS called to say his car wouldn't start. Do you have jumper cables? Have your brother jump you. "No, no cables, and his pickup won't start either." So, Rosie and I headed over to the 'city' to get them going. As it ended up he did have jumpers but they wouldn't work. And the one cable end had been put on wrong and fried the end. Bought a new set of jumpers so he would have a set.

Got them both going and we headed over down to pickup furnace filters for the shop, and ended up picking up a bunch of stuff, including new ends for his jumpers. When we got back I pulled the connectors out of the new clips and stripped the wire back, used some big heavy pliers to crimp it down then soldered them. then found I should have fed the wire through the clip, so then proceeded to unsolder and redo them right. PITA! Now both boys have a set of cables.

Cold overnight tonight, they're saying -10 not looking forward to getting up in the morning.

Tommy, hang in there. Letty, just think of how nice it will be when you get back to the beach.

I honestly dont see how people live in areas with minus anything temps. Or even single digits. And they do it on purpose at that. Makes no sense to me. I dont want to be here either, but the way housing rates are looks like im stuck a while.

Hello guru's.
Welcome to the cold new year. Yea we have global warming.
-5 when I got up. Dog didn't take long to his business.
Suppose to be cold most of the week. Got the fire burning keeping the house warm. Went out and split some wood. Not something I don't want to every day. Have enough to keep the Mrs. with wood for the week. Cheaper than running furnace.

Stay warm gang.

...add a 0 behind that Gris and that is what we woke up to... nasty business.... dog went out and set of record for doing his business... I could not keep my hand on the storm door handle... F'n brutal out there ya....

Rogers Pass Montana had a low of -70 in 1954 which still holds the record...Alaska has recorded an -80 below temp wid no wind chill.... put a 20 mph wind on that and see how you like it..

Coldest here in Cornville was -47 degrees.... Arkansas was -29 so you are toasty compared to dat VB.... Hawaii was 12 degrees and Florida recorded a -2 in Tallahassee in 1899.... that would ruin a day at the beach....

Time for some Oyster stew wid the little round crackers in it..... and some football...... do some jumping jacks if you are cold Guru's...

Lord I ain't made for 12* weather. I need to be back at the beach. Heat on 73, bout to crank on the fireplace too. Feel better today but still not quite there. My sinus crud was trying to make a comeback and robbed me of energy I need to get stuff done around here. Oh well, it'll be there when I get back to it. Temps to drop til they hit 6, up from the -3 we were predicted. Of course when it gets this cold does it really matter what that number says? I can't differentiate. Anything under 75 is cold to me. Chili, chicken and dumplings and next weeks meal prep hopefully will get made today. Need to do laundry, dust and deep clean too, dont have that much ambition.

TWO DEGREES ON THE FRONT PORCH, ONE AT TAHLEQUAH, NORTH WIND, SNOW THIS AFTERNOON. PREDICTED HIGH 10, HOW DELIGHTFUL :-(

DOG SPENT THE NIGHT IN THE HOUSE, BOXED UP. GOT UP EARLY TO LET HIM OUT, I'LL FED HIM DIRECTLY AND CHECK ON THE BARN CAT. I FEED THEM HEAVY IN THE COLD.

NO BREAK IN THE DEEP FREEZE TILL THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. GOOD THING I'VE GOT PLENTY OF BOOKS TO READ---GOING OUTSIDE IS NOT AN OPTION.

KEEP UP THE FIRE, GURUS, AND STAY CLOSE TO IT :-)

...hmmmm.....neighbor dog may have to mysteriously disappear some night....can't have no killer dogs in da hood mon...

Tip of the hat to Teeb... you are all league in our book...

-12 outside with a 25 mph north wind.... that would feel like -35 if you were out in it..... I got out early this AM when it was only -5 and got the snowblower going which I fixed... seems the shear pins broke.... I installed a couple of grade 8 bolts which should take care of the problem.... hell maybe I can use it as a tree branch chipper now....

I made a pot of Oyster stew and it's a balmy 73 in the house with the fiber optics internet streaming all our favorites...

roll with it Guru's

Buddy our dog got into a confrontation at the fence with the neighbors dog that tried to pull him through the fence. Two+ inch tear below his right shoulder. Bill is $1017. Let the shitshow continue. Both dogs are equally responsible but the neighbors dog is a killer. There is no doubt had he got him under the fence Buddy would have been a goner.

Ya, but I keep playing. Gambling is a distraction for me. Watching the wheels go round and round and the different symbols churning in my head blocks out the other things that I can do nothing to change. And of course on many nights "I can't win for losing". But there are those other nights when I come out a "Winner". In gambling even is also considered a win. Sue just came home and I'm ready to go. She did good last week. Made up for my losses and had extra to spare. A Saturday night to Hard Rock has become pretty routine for us. We stick within our allotted budget. No trips to the ATM. They give us incentives as well.

Good morning, sunny here, high of 41 then we drop to 13 and stay there a few days. Snow tomorrow and Monday, not looking forward to it at all. Have a ton to do around here and no energy, feels like I got my cold back actually. Arron is just getting up, must be nice. I'd like to sleep till noon, then of course, I'd be mad that I missed my whole day. Everyone here freaking out and posting bulletins about bringing pets inside. Too bad not as much energy there toward the homeless.
Congrats on the honor Tee, well deserved. Sorry for the woes, Tommy - my mamma always said "I can't win for losing".

Congrats on the recognition tee. Well deserved.

Just 4 or 5 months back I was living at ease. Fast forward to 2024 and I've got a missing son, stuff breaking down like crazy, Sue with health issues and we're losing our petsitter. That will make getaways difficult if not impossible unless we take seperate breaks. That's one of the truths we share about life. If all is going well ..... just wait. As usual I will take baby steps forward until perhaps one day in the future I will once again be at ease. Until then "Damn the torpedoes. Full speed ahead." Breathe in. Breathe out.

I received a most awesome birthday present this afternoon. I got a phone call from our high school AD asking me if I was available to come to the finals of the High Plains league basketball tournament next Saturday the 20th. He said that the league was going to honor me with their lifetime achievement award for my 44 years of service.

I told the HS AD, at the beginning of the school year, that I would be retiring from running the clocks for football and basketball at the end of this year, it was time for someone else to take over. I never anticipated this honor from the league. I am overwhelmed with emotion right now, and not sure I am worthy of the honor.

I figured the school would take a moment to say something at one of our home games, but, I never anticipated this League honor. My co-worker and I always laughed and joked about how we were the "All League" scorebook/score clock crew...this brings those jokes to reality.

Ill try a half tonight. A friend ordered these from venacbd.com called "lights out". I'm also looking at some from hellomood.com that has both day and night ones. There's nights I will take my lunesta plus a tylenol 3 and last night that one gummy let me sleep through the night and I even slept through hail here and crap getting blowed around outside

Happy Birthday Tee! gloomy here too but the sun did come out for a bit. It rained cats and dogs last night and wind blew like all get out I guess. I woke up to find one of the patio umbrellas had blown over and knocked over a 5' iron plant stand up against the bedroom patio door. Not sure how I slept through that but do have a good idea. A friend gave me some THC/CBD gummies for sleep yesterday and I ate a whole one. Slept till 10. It was marvelous. I probably should have taken just a half but I was also not going to take my Lunesta so was afraid not to take a whole one. I had dreams and everything so must've been good sleep. Tomorrow is supposed to be 40s and sunny so I'll try to get done what I can and hunker down that evening. Got chili and chicken and dumplins planned. We get snow Sunday and Monday, but they did say no ice and it will be a dry snow. At least it's a little good news

I'll be sharing the same birthyear birthday with you in July. Brad would have been joining us too, Sadly, he only joins us in spirit.

I got a ton of stuff going and only a small shovel to move it. My energy level is down and I'm adjusting to new meds. In any case I'm sure something will get done.

Morning guys... Really cold start here this morning, 5 when we got up. They are saying we might get up to low 30s...I'll believe it when I see it. Not a great birthday, weather-wise.

Blizzard #2 is still raging.... it is worse than the first one.... went out to work on some of the bigger drifts with my Toro snow blower and it no blow no Mo....... something broke in the blade tranny so the secondary blade stopped working.... My wife said it is time to get serious on snow and mow equipment.... she's talking John Deere serious.... like 15 to 20 large serious.... yikes... she says if we are going to live here as we get older we gotta have machines that can make that happen.....

I'm thinking a 65 Corvette would be just what we need....

county roads closed as is the interstate I'm sure....

I'm thinking it would be a good day for some oyster stew....

thing positive thoughts Guru's

Hey guys, pretty nice start to the day, upper 20s warmed up to upper 30s by noon. Rosie and I walked up to the post office to get the mail, quite pleasant. Went out to the shop to get some things done, was in there for about 20 minutes and went back to the house, stepped out and found the north wind blowing hard from the north and the temps dropped to low 20s and dropping fast.

Finished up the cabinets in the shop...think I'll arrange time to deliver and install them once it warms up a bit. Like Marc, it's going to get darn cold here for several days.

Tomorrow, my birthday, I have to run to the next town over to install the window jambs I built for the church over there. Hopefully it won't take all day.

Hi guys!!!

It's been a while... been busy... been sick... returning to normal, finally.

SoCal has been a bit damp and a lot windy. Also rather cool for SoCal.

Florida is used to clearing the grocery shelves when hurricanes approach. That and gasoline runs. Lines and tanks that run out of fuel are not uncommon. Drizzling right now. Cool and clammy. The afternoon was lost on getting the 91 from the mechanic's shop to the muffler shop. Took over 2 hours for the tow truck to show up. The front y pipe and cats were removed so I really couldn't drive it over there. Sounded Nascarish when I cranked it up. Getting a y pipe with a single cat to replace the old ones. Supposed to be a little louder and a little more free on the airflow. Between both shops we're spending $1600 on it on keeping it roadworthy. It's only money. Right?

Sunny and beautiful ,nearly 60 here today. thunderstorms turn into winter mix tomorrow and we will have a 40* temp swing in one day. Arkansas. Sunday and Monday we get snow, then -6 I saw latest, then fake spring by end of week. Have I said I hate it here? Not got much done at work, went through my vaca pics, that's bout it. Stores here already out of milk and bread. I don't get it. What, 3 days max? Just how much milk and bread can a person go through in that time? People are pigs and buy it all up and then those that really need it can't get it and those that bought it end up tossing it cause it goes bad before they can use it. Does this happen everywhere or just here?

Ya...next five days we will hit like -1 to 0 for the highs and minus -15 to -17 at night.... time to huddle around the fireplace and put warm bricks in the bed to warm it up...

when it rains it pours Gris.... seems like we go along for awhile with no problems then 2 or 3 things hit at about the same time.... just goes to show ya, it's always something...

keep your cards close to your vests Guru's....

My daily routine contains a number of expletives but none are deleted. I started today with a job that should have taken less than 5 minutes. Nope. Easy job had to turn in to more difficult one. Got er done though. No snow predicted here today, or any day for that matter.

Good Morning CGs!

The roads were pretty clear this morning driving in to work. Can't say the same for tomorrow based on what the news is reporting. The whole region is expecting 8-12" of nasty snow throughout the morning and day. Hopefully the plows are out early and often. Luckily for me the snow tires do a fantastic job of cutting through just about anything. Doesn't help with the other drivers on the road, though.

Having some serious car withdrawals right now. Is it spring yet?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Sorry to hear about the wrenching issue. Good mechanics and shops are hard to find.

Got a bunch of boxes from amazon today that held chain link fence privacy covers. Several hundred feet so I guess I have some work to do besides my other work. Online shopping has it's benefits. I only have to trudge the stuff in from the gate. With the help of my golfcart of course.

Sunny and almost 50 here today, bit warmer tomorrow then our deep freeze comes. I never dug up the tropical elephant ears, my fault, so if they're still there I'll try to get them this weekend. We'll hit -3 here. I figured we'd have a decent winter but we're about to get snow Monday they say.
had a few things going on at the office, mostly emailing one lady. She needs a form. I send it. Not the right one. I sent another, that's not it either, hopefully this third one will get her happy. Rush order on some stuff for the radio station, my big trailer went home, couple more things in the works. Job security.
