I don't think you can screw up a hole that's 3/8-20 by running a 3/8-20 tap through it. How could ya ? A tap is for cutting new threads agreed however if it's the same size as the hole it will just clean the gunk out. Sounds like you need a Heli-Coil set now which will fix you right up. I spun a bolt in my Dana 36 and a $10.00 Heli-Coil set later and all is well. GREAT STUFF !!

The AAPEX show and SEMA show are sweet. Everyone should go at least once. I'm not going this year, company won't spend the money to send me this year We're only sending one person this time the President of the company, nobody from purchasing or marketing is going either.

I run four miles everyday, I used to box and even though that's behind me I still like to train and spar. I have a gym in my basement, bowflex, freeweights, treadmill, bike, ab chair, blah blah.

I'd rather have an OLDER Corvette than a NEWER one. I already have a Corvette that ain't worth much. A new one would be the same thing shortly after it was paid for.

The 55 went 11s as it is, that Camaro won't get anywhere near an 11 second pass stock. I wouldn't bother with slicks the Camaro is a low 13 second car high 12s on a good day.
Your 55 is quicker than my car and I can pull buslengths on a new Camaro SS.

I was a little concerned to say the least. I probably noticed the fan moreso than usual because the front bu,per cover is off and the hood was open.

Well I went outside and put a jump box on it. jump box was dead S I busted out the BIG battery charger it started flashing fully charged. Tightened the negativce cable and no change but dash light real dim. Snugged the positive cable whcih was loose why I have NO idea and now it fires right up..... When it fired up the fan was running though but it shut right off. I think I confused the mess out of the car or something. The passive keyless entry light came on but it went off and seems to be fine now. back to start it again LOL THANKS FOR THE LIGHTNING RESPONSE. GURRU is the BEST.......

I removed my altternator and DID NOT disconnect the BATTERY first. The hot lead on the back of the alternator sparked like wild while I was putting it back on. So THEN I got the bright idea to disconnect the negative cable. The jobs all done but now I have no dash lights no nothing, won't crank won't do anything can't even open the window. How do I FIX what i did ? Where do I start ?? Ill go put a jumpbox on it by the rare chance the battery is dead but it wasn't BEFORE I started this little project.

Not to mention, I might accidently leave the dollar amount laying around.... god forbid my wife saw it, she would then entitle herself to the same investment in shoes......

I could have a C6 for what I have into mine but if I had a C6 I would be thinking I could have a Z06 for what I have in my C6. It never ends but whatever, gotta do something with the money you can't take it with ya.

Adding it all up makes no sense, it's not like you need to add it all up to make sure you get it all back. I know the money I spend on my Corvette is gone and ain't NEVER comming back. The guy who goes bowling two nights a week won't see the money he spends ever again either.

Ford gets it, that's why I bought some of their stock!

I'd even crank up my own windows, and install my own stereo.

Cruise control? Who gives a F? You can keep your remote trunk release, keyless entry and power mirrors too. Just gimmie the motor, competent suspension, a 6 speed and maybe A/C.

Very interesting series of threads. They confirm a couple of things for me.

1. When I need a trans i will call you
2. There's more shit inside one of these things than I would ever want to mess with so refer back to #1

You do nice work.

I would like to illuminate the words Full Power in the D.I.C. when I activate the nitrous. Has anyone done this or anybody have any ideas on how to do it ? Maybe have it flash Full power with the purge ? Or have it light up Full Power when I turn the damned A.S.R. off. My electrical skills are mediocre. I did install my stereo though, speakers, amp, CD changer etc and I did wire up my nitrous and purge. I am slow but I do have shrink wrap and terminals etc so I'm not completely clueless. Just giving you a little info on where my skills are so you can provide beter suggestions. It's a 93 with an automatic and the purge button is to the left of the D.I.C. in the plastic surround. Thanks !!!! John

It's mildly amusing me to think of a factory worker in China stamping out valve covers for a Corvette, when he can't even read the letters, will never see a Corvette in his lifetime, and probably will never even own any car.

Probably not the dream Henry Ford had in mind when he cranked up his Model A assembly line.

Ahh but I didn't buy made in China Valve covers nor were they engraved in China. U.S.A. made stuff, custom engraved
by http://www.innovators.bz/ NO CHEAP Chinese stuff here.
I PAY for quality, don't always get it but it is what it is.
They are back at the plater who felt sorry for me and is going to strip the chrome nickle them and chrome them again for next to nothing.

Arghhhhh, hours later and STILL pissed off. It sucks because I could have, should have done this myself and would have NEVER butchered them like this. I used to do paint and bodywork this would have been quite easy actually. I didn't have the paint or a brush so figured for 65.00 just let a PRO do them. HA !!!!

Depends what broke, if it was a fuel leak that got down onto the headers and melted the front end off I'd be happy !
If the rack and pinion went out that would just be shitty.

The part that pisses me off the MOST is the guy is a fucking liar. He blames the chrome finish and claims all he used was chrome polish. BULLSHIT, I have smeared everything in the garage on these things, chrome polish, glaze you name it and it does NOTHING to the finish. It does nothing to remove the scratches either though....... He did something STUPID. That's what I ge for being a waxer worried about chrome and bullshit though I guess. LOL

I am so tired of other peoples shoddy work.I had a set of valve covers chrome plated because I hate the cheapo ones and can't stand polished aluminum. I got a set of NICE polished Aluminum ones, Jesse James would be proud of the welds on the inside of these covers. I spent $550.00 for 'show chrome" They came out real nice but they were NOT perfect but I could tolerate them. You would think for $550.00 they would have been but to the platers credit the parts of the covers you see when on the car are PERFECT. I suppose I am a little over the top. I took them to a place called Design Sign to have the custom engraved valve covers painted. The engraving only of course. This STUPID ROTTEN BASTARD scratched the shit out of them. He painted the engravings sloppy so then took something ABRASIVE to clean off the excess. IF I didn't have a house, wife kids and so forth I would have beat him in the fucking head with them today. The bastard blamed the chrome finish, Custom Chrome the same guys who do chrome for show cars b.t.w. well it's back to custom chrome to get them replated.
I am so sick of this shit...... Rant Off

p.s. the s.o.b. did the painting for $65.00 cash no receipt so I am totally fucked. I didn't pay him but big F ing deal I'm sure it will be at least a couple hundred bucks to redo them........ Thanks for listening, I am soooo pissed off right now.

I'd have to side with Wayne there.

That's FN hysterical, maybe not for the o.p. but I had a good laugh.

How much would a build like this cost Just curious how much money I'll need in my piggybank when the time comes. I haven't tracked my car much so it might be a long while however sooner or later.

You have to do ypur home work either way. Get the magazines. The Chev dealership parts dept. here hands out a free magazine with nothing but hotrod stuff. There's hundreds of companys making stuff.

I talked with a truck driver that delivers to us. He has two 1923 T-buckets. The weight was around 1700#. He said "It is easier to buy one already done, and make changes from there. It depends on the amount of time and money."

This seems to be the general consensus. This will take some time though, I do not want to pay for a bunch of stuff I don't want, multiple carbs, goofy chrome everything nor do I want to buy a hacked together beater. I'm trying to do my homeowrk, looks like a 27 T is more what I want. It's gotta have a roof and at least one functional door. I wanna drive the thing, not watch the weather report etc.

It's a neat idea, would look better on that car in black though. Looks like there's remnants of the fasteners that held the rocker covers on too which would have to go.

Ahh another pussfag Corvette owner who thinks his 99 is a high dollar exotic. The best and worst thing about Corvettes are the fuckers who own them.

I know it's not on a track however the difference between these heads is ALOT less than what some who are trying to sell them to you would like you to believe.

They have some neat rooling packages and frame packages with suspension, etc.

I think you'll have to get on the hotrod forums to get good info, better than us Vette guys.
