I am so tired of other peoples shoddy work.I had a set of valve covers chrome plated because I hate the cheapo ones and can't stand polished aluminum. I got a set of NICE polished Aluminum ones, Jesse James would be proud of the welds on the inside of these covers. I spent $550.00 for 'show chrome" They came out real nice but they were NOT perfect but I could tolerate them. You would think for $550.00 they would have been but to the platers credit the parts of the covers you see when on the car are PERFECT. I suppose I am a little over the top. I took them to a place called Design Sign to have the custom engraved valve covers painted. The engraving only of course. This STUPID ROTTEN BASTARD scratched the shit out of them. He painted the engravings sloppy so then took something ABRASIVE to clean off the excess. IF I didn't have a house, wife kids and so forth I would have beat him in the fucking head with them today. The bastard blamed the chrome finish, Custom Chrome the same guys who do chrome for show cars b.t.w. well it's back to custom chrome to get them replated.
I am so sick of this shit...... Rant Off

p.s. the s.o.b. did the painting for $65.00 cash no receipt so I am totally fucked. I didn't pay him but big F ing deal I'm sure it will be at least a couple hundred bucks to redo them........ Thanks for listening, I am soooo pissed off right now.

I'd say it's a good thing you have a wife, kids and a house or you'd be getting three squares and a cot for the next few years. Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Low quality craftsmanship is an epidemic right now. Even the guys who are supposed to be specialist leave me scratching my head. There are always a few that this does not apply. It's finding the chosen few that becomes a mission.

The part that pisses me off the MOST is the guy is a fucking liar. He blames the chrome finish and claims all he used was chrome polish. BULLSHIT, I have smeared everything in the garage on these things, chrome polish, glaze you name it and it does NOTHING to the finish. It does nothing to remove the scratches either though....... He did something STUPID. That's what I ge for being a waxer worried about chrome and bullshit though I guess. LOL

I did all that work on my 92, and my biggest worry was which part would be the problem.

Just about the only thing left that you can count on being of excellent quality automotive wise is Snap On. Some of the so called performace parts are complete garbage made in fucking hong kong. Arghhhhh, hours later and STILL pissed off. It sucks because I could have, should have done this myself and would have NEVER butchered them like this. I used to do paint and bodywork this would have been quite easy actually. I didn't have the paint or a brush so figured for 65.00 just let a PRO do them. HA !!!!

I had an interesting conversation with Dave McClellan a while back. He is on the board of directors of Mosler... maks the MT900.

Well, Dave's contention is to use OEM parts whenever and where ever logically possible. They are tested to a much better quality than most "hot rod" parts.

I PAY for quality, don't always get it but it is what it is.
They are back at the plater who felt sorry for me and is going to strip the chrome nickle them and chrome them again for next to nothing.

Design Sign in Cleveland on BrookPark road are the ones that butchered the valve covers.

The plater called today to tell me they have been redone and the total cost for the redo ZERO !!!!! That makes this MUCH MUCH better. Still wanna kick the sign guy in the ass though. I'll post pics of the covers after I go and pick them up and paint the engraving myself. They are NICE !
