Brad, has it done this since the rebuild or did it start sometime afterward? Seems like you took the Vette on an extended trip last summer....did it happen after that?

Morning guys....Not much going on right now. I had a load of wood and plywood delivered to the shop. Now I just need to get it on the shelves so I can start on a couple of projects.

Matt, I know how those things can snowball. Just pizzes me off when things like that happen.

Don, that really a great thing for the dealership to do. I doubt any dealership out here would even consider something like that. But I would think that it would be a win-win situation for them. And it's cool that some of the mechanics hang around.

Bill, someday you're going to get it all done.....I think.

Brad what exactly is going on with your car?

Ralf, painting is an art, don't let anyone tell you different.

It really nice this morning and supposed to stay that way through the morning. This afternoon the wind switches around to the south and then here comes the heat. Going to be hot the next several days, predicting 108-114. Dry heat or not, that's HOT.

Stay cool guys

Went out and played golf tonight.....well I went out and chased that little sucker around. But man what a beautiful night...almost perfect. One good thing about living on the high plains, when the sun starts to drop, so do the temps.

That this is the original Motorama car. See Ron's post above #17

I have been in contact with the owner of this car.....

Here's what they have to say.

Quote:
First off they built 3 Corvairs, people will disagree. Here are facts about the car at Bloomington:

1. It does have a few parts from the original 3rd car that was a motorama car.
2. The top, trunk, doors, hood center console, rear deck lid, fenders were all modified to prints.
3. The car is an early 54 frame and body, there are two hood pulls.
4. For a power train it has a 53 motor, a real 066 head and a real 53 valve cover.
5. Many old timers in this hobby have helped with this project and it is not just one person, but you are more than welcome to trash them all if you like and I can give you all the names.
6. It was only taken to Bloomington so John Kennedy and Steve Newsom could see the car up close.

I have a few other acquaintances who dispute those facts.

Marcus, I don't know if we are supposed to be the great American desert, but it sure seems that we are headed that way.

I have some udder balm, I'll give it a try.

Morning guys....I wish it would rain here. I hear you guys talking about it, complaining really, and here we sit, dry and hot. Supposed to be in the 100's all week and the wind is blowing already.

Brad I agree with Bill, SS or ceramic coated is the only way to go. Is the framework treated lumber? If so there is part of the answer, the chemicals they use to treat it is very corrosive to steel. Even my deck, made from redwood, has affected the screws that I used. SS next time or ceramic coated.

I haven't been on a jet ski in years, sounds like fun. Don, Sunday was just recovery day from Saturday it sounds to me.

Several years ago I built footstools for each of the girls. I did the upholstery work as well. A woodworker I am, an upholsterer...not as much. All three of the stools and one that I made for myself were showing signs of problems. So I figured a way to repair them for good. Foam rubber padding was bought Saturday. So yesterday I proceeded to start the repairs. On two of the stools the repair was fairly simple. On the third one the outer soft covering was bad as well. It took two hours to remove the soft coverings, and although I was wearing gloves, I ended up with two huge blisters (one about the size of two quarter laying side by side), both of which wore the skin clear off. So now my hand is in a not so fun state.

I have a hard time believing that the Corvair Concept car is genuine. If it was, why weren't the NCRS and GM officials not swarming over it and why would it have been outside, instead of in one of the buildings. Why was it in what appears to be the swap meet area?

Great car and all, love the thing, but things don't jive here.....

Drooling over that ZR1, Ron. Sweet deal for $13K.

The GM Corvair, I'd be a bit suspicious about that car...I think it is a modified 54.

Morning guys...I'm not up early, I respect you guys who are. My guess your problem is the static electricity, Bill. Heck my shop vac does that here. Again low humidity. Matt sounds like you are going to have some fun. Rich, you got enough for the rest of us? Marcus, we could still use a bunch of that rain here.

Got to go out to the shop and do a little work. Later I'm going to let the Corvette down so I can get a couple pictures of the Ipod installation.

Marcus, kind of like the folks that bought that 76 here....upside down immediately. But your client is in better shape than mine. They are into it for $6200

I just got back (with two younger GSs) from Cars 2. It's OK, graphics are great, story so-so, but they grandsons loved it. CASE Closed....

Guess they should remove from television:

1) every Christian religious channel since all it does is slam those religious beliefs in our faces

2) nearly every sitcom on every station, since they all tend to deal with marriage and it's problems...slamming it in our faces

3) every reality show having to do with dating or marriage...aka the bachelor/bachelorette....since it slams that belief in our faces

I would tend to agree with you Matt, take them off. I guess most of these really don't affect me, because I choose not to watch those things, unfortunately my grandkids, like most, do watch them, because of the way they are rationalized and touted to the younger generations.

Not sure Bill, that might not work.

Yes, it is refreshing to have a product that works like it's supposed to, simple to install and is reasonably priced.

95, Maybe in the future I'd consider that as well. Right now, I'm very pleased with this upgrade.

Alright, I'll put my .02 in. I really don't have a problem with "adult choices". But when they start pushing for special treatment, it irks me to no end. We have kids in our little school (175-200, 9-12 inclusive) which are gay as gay can be. Do they get picked on? I don't know, I never see it, but that doesn't mean they don't. I really don't have an issue with gay choice. Just don't force your decisions/choices on me, my family, or anyone else. Like Tommy, I have friends who are gay, religious zealots, and people of various ethnic backgrounds. The key is, they don't flaunt it, shove it in peoples faces, or go about "advertising" their choices.

It's a free world, do as you please, just don't slam it in our faces.

Morning guys.....not much going on with me today. I slept in a bit and later I'm taking the grandsons to "Cars 2".

Don, if you are talking about the thread which I replied to, don't be apologizin'. Tommy, find some time for a nap today, sounds like you might need it. Matt, I remember those days, you'll survive, but those times will come to (more or less) an end. Jeff, looks like you have your weekend all planned out. Bill, that's just what you need, more stuff for your garage.

I'll be checking in later.

Guys, I just posted this in the Audio section. If you have an Ipod this might be the easiest way to hook it up to the C5.

OK guys, I know there aren't many C5 guys here, but I thought this would be a good pass along.

A week or so ago I purchased a kit from Double D which allows the attaching of an Ipod into the regular head unit on the C5. The unit I purchased was the PXDP/PXHGM2.
http://shop.doubledmods.com/Periphera ... Adapter-peripipodghm2.htm

I received my package from Double D yesterday. Today I let the Corvette down and decided to give the installation a go. The first thing I did was remove the 12 disk CD changer. I then added a velcro strip to the back of the little PXDP box (about the size of a pack of cigarettes, give or take). Then I routed the Ipod plug-in cable from the rear storage compartment under the carpet and into the console area. Then I grabbed the PXHGM2 cable plugged the one end of it into the PXDP box (only one way to put it in) and plugged the other end into the existing wiring harness (the end I unplugged from the changer). DONE.

I then turned on the key and pushed the Aux button on the head unit and my Ipod tunes came rolling out. The fast forward, rewind, Next and Back buttons on the head unit control the Ipod....cool.

If you have the changer in your C5, this mod is very easy and quick to do. Sorry no pictures, but I can maybe get some of the finished install later.

Morning guys....I have several things to do today, and have a couple checked off the list already. I like the first one better Tommy, but I don't mow (the wife does that), so I guess the second one would be OK. Good luck. The weather here is pretty "normal" low-mid 90's, light breeze, etc.I'll take that (what choice do I have?). Matt, you know what relaxes you? A really good therapeutic massage. Works wonders. Daughter gave me one for fathers day (well SHE didn't give the massage, but got me into her masseuse.)

I bought a cable to run my Ipod through my head unit on the Corvette, I need to get that installed. It will mean disconnecting the CD changer, but I don't see that as an issue, I don't use it anyway. Anyone want to buy a CD changer?

Bill, that garage sounds like a pretty good deal, the concrete work would be half the total around here. Is it wood framed or metal building type construction?

Afternoon guy/gals....I've been out in the shop cleaning up the tools and junk I brought home from KC. Still have stuff to do.

Yes Ron, it is nice to have you back. Letty, nice C5, you would really like it. Sunny and going to get warm today.

Got to get back out there and do something.

Hey guys...it was a long trip home today. Wind was blowing hard dead into us. Pulling the trailer made it feel like I had the emergency brake on the entire way home, probably only made 8mpg all the way home.....makes for an expensive trip. On a side note though, gas was a low of $3.36/gallon in the middle of the state.

I got everything unloaded and the trailer back to it's home and watched two grandsons play ball. My butts a draggin'.

Morning guys...More rain here last night, probably still dry at home. I've got most of the stuff loaded already, and I've done a couple last minute things here for the daughter. Long trip home today, pulling the trailer. Hopefully I won't be bucking the wind, too.

I need to go shower and finish loading, I'll try and check in when I get home.

Hey guys......it's been a log day. Working my azz off, reprogramming the garage opener, the wireless touchpad, and the car to work. Then on to repairing sh!t in the house electrical-wise. Then my daughter did something very nice for me for father's day, she got me in for a 90 minute massage. What a wonderful time....sure didn't feel like 90 minutes. Then back to do more electrical work, just finished up for this trip.

We will load up in the morning and head west. I'll try to check in before I leave.

Morning guys....I've been up and to church already. Now I'm doing more crap for the daughter, looks like I'll be at it for another couple days. A father's work is never done, guess.

Have a great Father's day.

Hey guys....I've been a busy little beaver the last 36 hours. 6 1/2 hour drive pulling a trailer full of furniture. After getting here I unloaded all the stuff, then started working doing other things around her new house. Changed all the outside door locks, etc. I bought $130 worth of tools to leave here so I have tools when I come here. She got new dishwasher, refrigerator and this afternoon, cable, telephone and internet.

My butt is dragging. I think I'm going to go take a shower.

Afternoon guys(and Letty)...I've been busy again this morning with getting stuff together to leave for KC in the morning. Then I got a call from my mechanic, saying he could look at the daughters' van, so I decided to get it over to him (24 miles away). My daughters' semi-ex driving the van me following in the pickup. I've got 5 gallon extra water in case we need to fill it back up. We make it about 8 miles and she starts to get warm. Pull over to add water and the recovery tank is full, the radiator is full, pressure on the upper hose and the thing is hissing out the top of the engine...SOB the thermostat isn't opening, that could answer a lot of questions. Well, instead of waiting for it to cool down, I decide to just hook on to it and pull it the rest of the way. The SIL did a great job of steering that pulled vehicle. The mechanic seems to think like me. I hope we can get it fixed without spending a ton of money on it.

Don, that drone is a killer, just get it fixed and everyone will be happier. Bill, I like the Bose system, where the other 901? Matt, it cool to meet and help others that we meet on line. Marcus, we actually got some rain the other night, but we could still use some, send some of the sh!t our way.
Got to go out to the shop and do some woodworking. I'll check in later.

Hey freak, I recognize you from the other place. I hadn't seen you on there much, but then again I sold my 94 Z07 two years ago and moved to a newer car (2001). Welcome aboard here we can always use another "freak".

Morning guys...I slept in some today. I worked like a dog yesterday and have more today.

Tommy, those learning experiences are tough. Probably lose her rear on the job, but gain valuable experience. Been there, done that....Brad, it's a daunting process any way around it. I assume that you are doing the hidden fastener system on those? You won't be sorry for doing it right.

Morning gurus....I've been busy again this morning. Picked up the trailer, got it all cleaned out and this afternoon I'll start loading it up.

I'm with Letty on this one, that sounds serious. Tommy, it always hard to figure out what's missing, until you need what's gone....sorry SOB's.

The best I've been able to come up with was running it through a DVD burner and burning it to DVD, then ripping it to digital format. Yea, I lost the Hi-Def but was able to get the images to a digital format.

Afternoon guys...I've been busy this morning. Picked up a computer that was having issues and fixed it. Washed the Corvette and now it's ready to be put back up on the lift. Oh, I did get the lift fixed last week...no more leaky. After I finished the Corvette I washed and cleaned the Pickup. I'm now waiting on the lady to come by and pick up the computer. Maybe I'll get the wife's car out and wash and clean it. We have men's night tonight at the golf course, I haven't played in two weeks, I hope I don't stink it up.

Congrats on the new niece, Matt.

Anybody ever screwed with a Chevy Venture. Crap you can't even get to the sides or back of the engine. I may try to get it into a shop.

Don't think it's a head gasket, no coolant in the oil. Looks to be leaking from a heater hose (he says with his fingers crossed).

I made it home guys...6 hours 8 minutes and two stops. Made really good time. On I70 I had rabbits out there in front nearly all the way. Even had rabbits on most of the two lane, so we were able to run +9 most of the way.

Tommy, I know how she feels, SOBs. Bill, she'd double your compressors storage capacity....

Right at 1600 miles on this trip.

Get home to find out the daughters van is overheating. Sounds like a head gasket to me, but I haven't looked at it yet. Probably more money out of dad's pocket.
