GM CGs

I'm up and ready to go. It's off to the bank and then pay a few bills and fill up my day with plenty of things that need to be done. Brought my nephew back to his folks in Naples yesterday. They were staying at the Carlton Ritz right on the beach so we hung out there for awhile. I think my nephew enjoyed his visit and we enjoyed having him. While he was here he saw Miami, South Beach, the farm country, the race track area the beach and dock of our county park and the visitors center at Biscayne National. We spent some time at Dave and Busters eating and playing games and walking the Dolphin Mall. I gave him a driving lesson on the roads just outside Miami Homestead Speedway. I told him he could tell his friends he learned to drive at the track. Well .... he did .... sort of.

Good Morning CGs!

Finally got a good night's sleep last night. Went to bed early and enjoyed some zzzzzzz's. Now it's back at 'em.

Rain here this morning. Supposed to rain all day. It's not good for the pool. Overfills it and messes with the chemical balance. Went to take a dip yesterday and the water was freezing. I took rugrat #1 in with me and we had to get out a short while later. Haven't enjoyed it much this year. Oh well haven't enjoyed much of anything this year!

Got a chance to go out with Rick on his jetskis yesterday after we moved some furniture. That was a blast. Haven't been out in 2 years so it was a nice break.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Yesterday, I accomplished.............Nothing.

Today, I'm planning on doing something.....Maybe.

I got an email survey from Chevorlet on Racing & Preformance today.

I did have a change to state that they don't do shit for amature racers.

Howdy! The rains held off yesterday, so I got the stairs ripped off of the deck. Just have to remove the old fascia now. I think the frame should be OK, but am going to go over all the fasteners and replace some - I was shocked at how bad many of the screws were that held the decking, etc.

Have a good day, everyone!

Good Morning folks

Saturday I busted my butt from 7am until about 3PM when my we had some friends stop over for our first summer cookout of the year. The place looked nice after a day and a half of organizing and getting the backyard and deck looking presentable for company. My friend Mark brought the best London Broil with him. It was just incredible. The crabs were good too and we had a great time. I look forward to doing that again soon.

Tommy - Can I come be your nephew? Sounds like fun to me!

Yesterday I did nothing myself except clean up the mess from Saturday and jell out in my easy chair watching movies the rest of the evening. I was going to work on the car but I really hate putting it up on Jack stands. It is more aggravation getting the car up high enough in the air to work on it than it is doing what ever work needs to be done under neath!!

@Matt - I have wanted to buy at least one JetSki since I moved here to Chesapeake Beach. Lots of people here have them but they seem so damn expensive and seem like they are sitting on trailers unused for a majority of the time or in disrepair and not running. From my office window here where I sit I can see four of them in two different neighbors yards full of leaves and debris and unloved. One positive aspect for for me is that we have a launch ramp less than two block from the house. Oh well... that's a dream for another day.

Yea, it's supprising isn't it.

I've switched to stainless steel for all the outside screws and nails. I used SS on all the siding I put up.

That's good to know because I have a choice between a regular plated screw or a Stainless screw for my front porch flooring. Stainless is a lot more but I may go with them anyway. Although I don't plan on having to ever do this again...

Morning guys....I wish it would rain here. I hear you guys talking about it, complaining really, and here we sit, dry and hot. Supposed to be in the 100's all week and the wind is blowing already.

Brad I agree with Bill, SS or ceramic coated is the only way to go. Is the framework treated lumber? If so there is part of the answer, the chemicals they use to treat it is very corrosive to steel. Even my deck, made from redwood, has affected the screws that I used. SS next time or ceramic coated.

I haven't been on a jet ski in years, sounds like fun. Don, Sunday was just recovery day from Saturday it sounds to me.

Several years ago I built footstools for each of the girls. I did the upholstery work as well. A woodworker I am, an upholsterer...not as much. All three of the stools and one that I made for myself were showing signs of problems. So I figured a way to repair them for good. Foam rubber padding was bought Saturday. So yesterday I proceeded to start the repairs. On two of the stools the repair was fairly simple. On the third one the outer soft covering was bad as well. It took two hours to remove the soft coverings, and although I was wearing gloves, I ended up with two huge blisters (one about the size of two quarter laying side by side), both of which wore the skin clear off. So now my hand is in a not so fun state.

You guys are pretty funny to read. Good morning.

Saturday it was off to the commissary to stock up after we had been gone for a week on a cruise to Key West, Jamaica and Grand Cayman. Actually we'd been back a week, just not much shopping done until Saturday.

Sunday put in fuel filters on the Mustang and Miata, cleaned the MAF sensor on the Mustang. Runs right now. Played with the fuel sending unit on the Vette and got the parking brake stuck.

With all these issues my woodshop is still not up to par since my move last November. Just fixing cars with another one in the staging area now...an 87 TII RX7 with 105,000 on it. We'll see how that works out, but I'm more familiar with the RX7 than the Corvette!

I always upgrade to whatever requires the least possible future maintenance. You pay extra but it gives rewards. I bought stainless hardware for my boat trailer 15 years ago. That trailer is still great. Aluminum frame with stainless hardware. Without it I would end up buying a new trailer every 5 to 7 years. It has paid for itself.

Sounds like my yard/landscaping. Your wife would freek out if she saw it.

Sprinkler system blew up, moles invaded, grass died.
Now I have no maintainence dirt.

They are not that bad to buy, for about 3 grand you can buy a nice 2001-up seadoo 3 seater with a trailer. as for sitting, yes often times they do for a long periods.. last year I only got out 4 times, year before a bunch almost every weekend and a few times after work during the week.. this season the weather has been not so great so this was only the 1st time, hope to get out again soon..

When I was buying mine I bought them in the off season, with low hours and sniped them on e-bay. my 02' only had 45 hours on it, and my 2001 they thought has around 40 or 50, only had 15 hours on it (when my friend plugged in to check the hours and program the keys) and the one w./ 15 hours had a new motor because someone didn't winterized it properly, it was in like new shape except a small scuff on the hood..

Of course the wife is always on my case and wants me to sell them... no way..

Damn, the more you guys talk about Jet-ski's the more anxious I get for vacation.

We only use ours once or twice a year. The closest lake to our house is about an hour away and we are spoiled to the house in Alabama and being able to pull up to the dock to take breaks. I've had ours up to 60mph early in the morning before the water gets too riled up by the traffic and that's fast enough for me. We used it to pull a 3 person float one year. It was fun and it pulled it faster than the pontoon boat but when you slung the float the ass end of the jetski went with it. Sort of like drifting.

I watch them out here near my house when the wind kicks up and there is white caps out on the bay! I have seen some crazy dudes jumping big ass wakes at high speeds on those things. I'd be waiting for early morning when the water is like glass. The other big thing here now too is Sea Kayaks, Stand up Kayaks and Wind Surfing when the conditions warrant it. I'm a bit too rotund to do the wind surfing thing because those guys get seriously airborne! Like 20 to 30 feet at least in some wind. Its pretty amazing. Oh the fun of water sports!! I wish I were down there now.

I had a chicken wing, some fritos and 3 fig newtons. Dons lunch looks better by far. I'd have to take a nice snooze after that one though and I already took an hour nap at 12:30.

Did that lunch come with a warning?

The Surgeon General has found that red meat in excess of 4 oz occasional servings may be hazardous to your health. Gravy contains high concentrations of sodium and sauces on vegetables often overide the nutritional value of the chosen side order.

You should have had the hummus.

I will jump some wakes. Not sure about large swells, I'd probably try it once. :D

So I was outside playin' with the C4.
My neighbor and his 5 year old little girl walked over. She had a Snow White book in her hand. I asked her if she liked Dwarves.
She asked me if I could name all the dwarves.
I'm like, ahhhh, sure.
Bashful

Dopey

Sleezy

Dancer

Prancer

Vixen

And the one with the red headlight.

She lookes at me kinda funny.

After two years I discovered that the butt-hole (not me) that installed my Cat Back for me ran the left side exhaust pipe right over top of two of my transmission pan bolts. There was no way to get to them... Had to drop the exhaust from the collectors back to the axle to drop the trans pan. What a PITA. My next project is to find a really good exhaust shop and have them re-do my whole system from the collectors back. I have found so many areas that I know are making contact and are increasing DRONE. Plus I think its a shabby job anyway. Crap... Crap I say!

Ah, she didn't catch that but did catch the raindeer.

It always wears me out reading what all you guys manage to accomplish in one day.. crazy!
I got almost nothing done in two days, but did get the heads to the shop today for resurfacing, picked up some Chinese for dinner, went to the gym for my butt kicking and made a pot of tea. That's about it.

Went out and played golf tonight.....well I went out and chased that little sucker around. But man what a beautiful night...almost perfect. One good thing about living on the high plains, when the sun starts to drop, so do the temps.

Oh yea, it was 92 here today, still in the 80's. The breeze coming thru the windows is ice cold, humidity is 10 %, freekin' beautiful.

of course, my house is a tad higher up than yours.
