My mission lately was to clean up around the house. (This has been an ongoing effort for years now.) We have 1900 sq. ft. of stuff crammed into a 1500 sq. ft. house. Of course much of it is stuff we've collected over 27 years. Not quite as packed as BillH's garage but getting close. We still have room to walk from room to room. I don't know what possesses people to have to "own" stuff or to "save "stuff". Then there is the emotional bond you build with the stuff. I can watch Carlins' bit over and over and still have a need to have stuff. I'd throw some of it out but it might be worth something.

Good Mornin! Happy Father's Day!

I'm going to see my Dad today and the family will be there. I think there will be some crab eating going on too Bill!!

Check out the pics in my Cruise-In thread. That was last night. I had fun talking to the other street rodders about their cars. A really interesting car that was parked next to me was the 1928 Boat Tail racer. This car was actually raced and has seen a few nostalgia races in more recent times.

We could have a contest, "who has the most stuff shoved into one room?".
But I'm not posting pics.

This thing about saving stuff, putting it somewhere and not even seeing it for years is nuts (and so am I).

When I cleaned out the old kitchen cabinets, I found a lot of stuff, stuff I hadn'd seen or used in years.

I out all that stuff in boxed to take to Goodwill.

I hope I can load up that stuff without going back thru the boxes sayin' "Maybe I should keep this".

The show American Pickers or something like that is amazing. You can see the motherloads that hoarders have collected. 90 y/o motorcycles, Civil War memorabilia, earlt Americana furniture, signs and tons of old rusty and broken shit. Taxedermy, etc. Cool!

Howdy! It was so dark and dreary and rainy that we slept until 9:30 - that's gonna push my nap off a bit. As soon as it dries up a little I'll be out putzing with the deck.

Have a good one!

I find myself starting to do this, too: ordering the same part twice because I forgot about ordering it the first time, keeping incorrect parts because they work, etc.

Anyhow, today has been a "preparing the Corvette for the national convention" day - trucked the 1985 to the local specialist for some stuff I can't do myself and shipping another set of show wheels out to Wheel Collision Center.

I keep going to Home D to buy crap that's probably hidden in a box somewhere in the garage.

Hell, I found some '63 C2 parts in a box the other day.

When I went out to my shed yesterday, I pulled out some trowels, sponges and other tools for working with mud. I found a vise I've been saving for my garage (when I get one), some chain link fence ties, assorted screwdrivers , wrenches and sockets. I'ts like finding stuff for the first time all over again. I buy stuff and never bring it back too. Never know when you'll need it.

Hey guys....I've been a busy little beaver the last 36 hours. 6 1/2 hour drive pulling a trailer full of furniture. After getting here I unloaded all the stuff, then started working doing other things around her new house. Changed all the outside door locks, etc. I bought $130 worth of tools to leave here so I have tools when I come here. She got new dishwasher, refrigerator and this afternoon, cable, telephone and internet.

My butt is dragging. I think I'm going to go take a shower.

Today's been a complete bust. I got about 15 screws out of the deck before it started raining again, and it never stopped. I did tidy up the garage a bit, otherwise just been watching the U.S. Open.

Very humid and hot here today and then it rained a monsoon for a few minutes then hot and steamy all over again.
Ex showed up and helped me with the car today, he took one side and I took the other. All the plugs on my side were dry, the back one on his side came out wet.
Tore it all apart and is a gasket on the driver's side. Gonna replace both sides anyway.. Waaaayyyy too many miles on this not to. But, I understand now why mechanics hate to work on C4s and I have a newfound respect for them. This was a huge pain in the ass and I will never, ever offer to help with this job again and hope I never have to cross that bridge again. I've never done this before and was happy to be where I could get it done for zero labor cost and learn something in the process, including winning the lottery and hiring it done!
Will mess with it some more tomorrow.

Oh... and shall I add that I came home and cooked dinner....
good grief, I'm tired!

Way to go, Letty! You'll need to get new head bolts when it goes back together - the old ones won't torque properly. ARP bolts are a good replacement. Also get some of The Right Stuff to seal the front and rear of the intake manifold.

I agree with new head bolts. You'll be fine with ARPs or the cheaper GM replacements. Good job on the tear down!

I"m makin my list of stuff I need. I sure do dread the hell out of this. I feel like somebody beat the heck out of me. Gonna go ahead and take down my side today and replace both gaskets to be more safe than sorry. There's no way in hell I could have ever done this by myself, but I've done 'my half' of it. I can assure you if I encounter this again, hopefully not, I will hire it done. But, I have gained a lot of knowledge and am grateful for that. And have a new respect for C4 mechanics and know now why they hate working on them. You can't hardly get your hands in there for nothing.
I rate this as a 12 on the 1 to 10 pain in the ass list....
Thank you everyone for support and advice. MUCH appreciated. Send prayers too while yer at it
