I just put on a new MSD distributor. My wife thought I was detailing the engine bay.

I finished the wiring. Cleared the codes, and received a C12 (On board diagnostics operational; no codes). All interior lights work, and the security light is operating again.

Thanks for your help.

My guess is the Ignition Control Module (ICM). The same thing happened to me. The car shut off, but would crank just fine. There was no spark from the coil, so I replaced the coil. That didn't fix it, so I put in a new ICM and it fired up.

I attended the show. It was about two weeks before I bought mine. I did enter in the Hooters Corvette show that was mid-summer. I also did the Hot Summer night cruise at the lake. The ironic thing is, in your first photo our company van is in the background.

It was the shop that the previous owner had taken it to. There are several screws and bolts missing from the dash. Splices have bare wires sticking out. There are three fuses that are too high of a rating, and the theft fuse is missing.

I was able to get more work in, and found out why code 25 is there.

the wires are cut from the CCM at D12, C12 and D16. From the CCM they were left loose and not capped off. Then from the harness they were all three tied together. I don't know if they did this for the remote start, or if there was an issue before.

I am going to have to pick this up after work tomorrow. Also the PO had changed everything over to white on the dash. I think that is where the wiring got so messed up.

Its an old FSM. It says to jump G and A turn on the ignition. With a test light between terminals 2 and 5. Then when the car cycles between 10.0 and 10.1 note the test light. It stays on, so the manual says repair short to ground in ckt 690.

The code shows as C25 and H25. Current and history. The previous owner had a remote start on the car, so the wiring has been disconnected and not put back proper.

It wasn't in the stock location. It was under the glove box. After the test it says that circuit 690 is grounded. Is the CCM behind the radio.

On my 92 I checked the codes. I had #25 under the CCM module. Which relay is the courtesy relay.

I had a set of heads where a water port did not line up with the one on the block. This dumped a lot of water into the engine. They had been installed on another car, and it no problems. Both were early 70's small blocks.

I finally started it back up, but only for a few seconds to get the antifreeze to cylce a bit. It seemed a lot smoother than before.

Which way should the groove on the water pump coupler face. It was towards the pump when I took it off the car, but the manual says towards the engine.

On the coupler to the waterpump the groove was towards the pump. In the service manual there said the white stripe should be towards the engine. I am guessing the groove is the white stripe. If so it was in backwards.

On my '03 S10 the SES light has been on for a while (about a year). The shop had told me it was the gas cap code, so I didn't worry about it. Since then I have switched shops, due to an outrageous quote. I recently had to put on new front bearings, so I had my friend put them on (he's a mechanic a dealership). He told me that both bank 1 O2 sensors were bad, which they probably went bad in the past year, but there was no gas cap code in the system. I replaced the sensors, and no more code.

I like the car shows the best. The local club had a good show last year, but I did not have my car then. I am going to sign up for the show this year. I am not sure if I want to join the club though.

The newer style would be good, for the timing chain option. This one will at least be vented.

The plugs and wires were a mess on the car when it was purchased. One was not plugged in all the way to the distributor, so it was arcing. Which corroded the electrode, so I am not too sure on that connection.

Its a 92, so it is not vented. It does start fine, but the idle is a little rough. A new cam would be nice, but that will happen when the entire engine is rebuilt.

I ordered in a new MSD distributor, as a winter project. The opti is still working, but has me concerned. I don't know if it has been replaced before and it has 134K.

MSD recommends putting in new seals and gaskets on the timing chain cover, when replacing the distributor. If I am going to have the cover off, I might as well replace the timing chain and waterpump drive shaft too.

It's adding up, and adding up quick.

Its mandatory to have 10% ethanol here in Missouri. I wish they would let the consumers decide.

The reason for "May contain" is that some suppliers add it, so it can be transported to any state. Where if it did not have the ethanol, they couldn't ship to states like Missouri.

I had been looking forward to a car cruise back in October. A few hours before I was to leave I lifted the hood, and there was a 2" split in the outer jacket of the "T" to radiator hose. I checked with Napa, O'Reilly's, Autozone, Carquest, and three local dealerships. Not in stock, but on the way home there is a small parts house. They had two in stock, $8 each. Ten minutes to change it, and I was on my way.

When you followed the flow chart for code 43, what voltages did you get from the ECM. Also did both knock sensors ohm between 3.3k-4.5k, from terminal to ground.

It has been confirmed. The previous owners mechanic had put the wrong plugs in. The gap was even incorrect (.040). The gaskets on the plugs from the drivers side had oil on them from not being sealed on the seat, it wasn't from the valve covers they are clean. I also put a new set of Taylor plug wires on. There is a huge difference in the performance. Thanks for everyones help.

I contacted Bosch. The service specs from GM, has engine code P as a tapered plug, and J as a gasket seat.

Thanks for the info. They should be ok, I've checked several other manufacturers and they also have the tapered plug.
