Bill, personally I like the variation of oak, I think that's what gives it character. Most people don't see it that way though. Will you face nail that row then?

Chris, I haven't been to Cripple Creek in years, I'm not a huge gambler, but the in-laws like to go up and drop a few pennys every so often. We have gone up with them a few times to CC but most of the time they like to go "visit the indians" north of Topeka, it is considerably closer for them.

They have done a multi-million dollar renovation and it's better yet. It is a beautiful stadium.

Yea, I don't "plan" much of anything, the wife does that I am taking the grandsons to a Royals game this evening, they too are having a big fireworks display tonight. Should have a good time. Brad, I don't have the 7000, I have the 6000, and think it's a great tool. Shipping within an hour? Now that is something. Bill I know what you mean. Are you laying a bunch out and then nailing or are you trying to do it piece by piece?

I never was a smoker or chewer, but this has gone too far. The govt thinks they have a cash cow, well they are going to milk it dry and then where will they be. If you guys that smoke want to smoke or quit that should be your choice. It just stinks that the govt is involved at all...just like several other places they shouldn't be involved with.

Tommy, here in Kansas, there are about 10 "Tea Parties" scheduled for Saturday.

Not much for me, go watch a parade, play with the grandkids, go eat some good BBQ that one of my SIL will do. And watch the neighbors blow up their money. Johnny, that's so cool, have a good time. Bill, everyone in America celebrates your birthday! Happy Birthday!

I made it to KC without incident, 6 hours and 20 minutes. The two grandsons were great on the trip down. They are enjoying playing with the one cousin. Talked to the wife an hour ago and see is on the road with the daughter and oldest grandson. Looks to be a good 4th weekend.

Wo9w, what a way to start a weekend. Hope you are feeling better Matt. I think all wives are related in that way Tommy, but in some cases we/I have done something to raise their suspicions.. Chris, when it rains it pours, where were you Blackhawk or Cripple Creek? Don, sounds like you have the best of both worlds.

I am leaving for KC in about an hour. I am taking the two younger grandsons with me. The Wife and daughter will head up after they get off work with the older grandson. They will hang around until Sunday, then come home, while I stay and work at the #3 daughters house next week.

You guys have a great weekend, in case I don't have a chance to log on...

What is the range of lengths of staples the gun will handle? I assume that it is a 1/4" crown.

You want to be careful with those guns, last fall I was re-building a drawer for one of the other teachers, and long story shortened, I shot myself in the hand with a 5/8" staple. Not good, but it didn't really hurt, but I did have to have surgery to remove the dam* thing.

Matt, I had a brake job very similar to yours, but it was an Olds Alero. Makes you crazy, a half hour job turns into an all nighter. Tommy I don't want to hear this about retirement, I'm a year away from retiring from teaching, but I usually find that my summers are like that, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Brad, long drive? Wow, you must be an animal. Colon Blow? We have that every week, but it's by choice. We have one guy that brings his homemade salsa each week, if you are constipated, this stuff will fix you, but man does it taste good. Bill, is the flooring prefinished? That pneumatic stapler will make things much easier. I'm sure you'll do fine.

Hot here today, I think I have all my tools lined up, I just have to load them up and hit the road tomorrow. I am leaving earlier than the wife, as I am taking at least two of the grandsons with me (maybe all three), and the wife is riding up with the middle daughter as they both have to work tomorrow until 5. Today I need to get that fireplace mantle installed and a bid on some cabinet doors finished and emailed.

Hey guys, teachers are human too! Although I can say that's never happened to me. I've had young ladies try to "get a rise" out of me, but luckily never accomplished the chore.

Morning...Matt the yard is looking good. Brad, I hope your golf game is good tonight. We had our "mens night" last night, I got hooked up with a former student and his dad, we shot -6 for nine holes. We were playing pretty well, we made won our money back, and had a great meal.

Today I'm getting ready to go to KC on Thursday, gathering tools. I'll be staying over part of next week as well, as I am going to start the conversion of our youngest daughters garage into a master bedroom suite. I can do part of the work, removing the garage and walk-in doors and filling in the space, putting the floor joists in and doing part of the sub floor, but they need to then get the plumber in to do part of the rough-in before I can finish that out. Then in another trip I'll build the walls and rough-in the electrical. I figure they can do the insulation themselves (I don't like the itch anyway), and they have a friend who will do the sheetrock.

OK, I think I outdid Matt this morning...I hope everyone has a great day.

Morning Guys, I have very little planned for today. Deliver and setup a computer, spray a little lacquer on a fireplace mantle that I built, play with the grandsons....not too bad. Supposed to be hot again today, so I'll stay inside as much as possible.

Morning Guys...We had a fun day yesterday. We got up and drove to Pueblo (200 miles), met up with 19 other Corvettes and did about 170 mile cruise up in the mountains then stopped and had a bit to eat and then we drove on home. 586 total miles yesterday, almost 10 hours of moving time and right at 3 hours sitting, Max speed attained was 114 (all this info according to my Garmin) Today we have already been to church and went out to watch the oldest grandson play baseball. Now we're going to have a bite and I am going to wash the Corvette, she's got lots of bugs on her nose. Going to be pretty warm today low 90s.

Those Zero-turn mowers are nice, but wouldn't woork for us, we only have about 5000 sf of lawn anyway. The wife likes to push the mower (I did buy her an electric start and self propelled model).

We are meeting at the dog track at around 10:30 or so, if you are free come on out to meet up...even if you don't go along.

Morning guys, sorry I can't relate to your backyard dilemma, and no dog (or cats). My wife keeps ours spotless....yes, my wife does the yard work.

I have been out in the shop spaying finish for the last hour and a half. In an hour or so, I get to go to the "city" and install a fireplace mantel, and some drawers that I built. Then back here to finish up the spraying.

This evening there is a benefit cruise for the local "Emmaus House". I haven't been to one of their cruise-ins for a year or so, maybe tonight. Tomorrow I am getting up early and heading for Pueblo Colorado, to meet up with about 25 other Corvette owners and do a "Drive and Dine". It'll be a long day as we will get up drive 200 miles to Pueblo, meet up with the group, do about another 200 miles (with multiple stops), end up back in Canon City to eat, then head all the way back home (another 250 miles). Some quality time in the Vette.

Morning guys, wife's off today and helping watch the boys. I need to go out and stain some shelving units I built. Got a lady coming by whom I fixed a couple of chairs for and a lamp. I need to go to the "city" to take some measurements for some drawers so I can get them installed. Then this evening two of the three grandsons have baseball games. Other than that I'll be chillin....so to speak (it's supposed to be 100+ again today).

Rocky Mountain Corvette Social Club (RMCSC), I think I told you about them. No rules, no meetings, no officers, no dues...kind of a non-club club. They have a website and an email list and when somebody gets a notion, they will decide to have a get together(a drive and dine, BBQ, attend a car show, whatever) they send out an email and whoever can and wants to attend responds back so arraignments can be made. We try to make it out once a year to something.

Neat story about your Dad.

Morning....Matt always look for the obvious first but what you did doesn't hurt a thing. Don, your car is looking really good, almost makes me wish I hadn't traded mine, but I couldn't afford two. Tommy, the Carolinas are beautiful country. Thank your nieces husband for me, it's a great thing that he is doing. Brad.....it must be something about the week, my golf game sucked big time Monday night. Maybe if I committed more time and played more....Nah.

I have not much planned today, watch the boys, wife is at work, a little work to do in the shop. Prepping for a day run to CO on Saturday with a group out there. Going to meet up with the group in Pueblo. Chris, I don't think there will be time to stop, as we are doing the Drive and dine, then driving on home yet that evening.

Hey Gurus...it's been a busy day for me already. Like many of you the heat is on here in SW Kansas. Headed for 100+ and humidity is higher than normal, so it's hot.

I have been working on a computer, I put it together yesterday from new parts, loaded the OS and got it running. Took it up and installed it and got it communicating with the Alfalfa Analyzer, but can't get the software to print. Also I've been working on a couple of projects out in the shop, and helping the 4 year old grandson learn to ride his bike (no training wheels). I think I'm going to go swimming with them as it's so hot. Unlike some of you, we have to go to a public pool.

Later guys.

Yea, I don't think any of my stuff was "free". It's taken me thirty years to build that shop, I had better be able to do some work in there.

Funny, I just re-read and didn't pick up on your joke earlier Chris.... In the picture my copse doesn't show, but I suppose I do have a copse in there. LOL

Chris, yes I have a scroll saw on the other side of the radial arm saw (first picture), I also have 3 or 4 coping saws, among other types of saws.

That pretty cool about the old home movies. How do you convert the VHS to digital?

I've built some furniture, should post some pics. Probably about highschool quality.

Yes, having the right tools is very important. My wood working stuff is basic. My portable radial arm saw has to live on top of my tablesaw just because I'm out of room, too many mechinical tools, no floorspace left.

I think buying tools is way better than renting or borrowing. I just ordered a Grex flooring stapler to do 2 rooms, $170 shipped. To rent one for 4 days is $140.

Bill, I would absolutely agree with you on the buying of tools as compared to renting. I have several tools that I own because it was cheaper to buy than to rent for the time I needed them. Cabinets, like those I built, can be done pretty easily with a skilsaw and a router. If you have a table saw all the better. If you are interested I could send you some detail drawings of my methods. If interested drop me a line.

This is my wood shop (have I posted these here before?)

Bill, yes I built the cabinets...for those of you who don't know, I am a high school woodworking/drafting teacher (30 years). And I do custom cabinetry and furniture as a side. Next year after I retire, I plan on doing this to supplement my retirement pension.

Cabinets are not all that difficult to do, having the right tools is a key to making things easier.

Morning...The grandsons are here and fighting already I'm up and feel pooped, I didn't sleep that well last night. I need to put all my tools away, yesterday I just unloaded them all in the shop.

Matt, yes they are hard maple (sugar maple), they just have a clear lacquer finish on them, no stain. Yea, the cabinet would be reasonable, but you are right the delivery would be a killer. On to the next project...

Later guys.

Oh yea, I did go to the test and tune night at Great Bend dragway Friday night. Two weeks ago when I was back putting in the upper cabinets, my little brother said he was going to run his "bobber", well he had a nut on his clutch come loose and didn't get to run. So this past Friday he had his bike there and ran. I took a couple of shots.
This first one is of my little brother. He went 13.24/105 The bike has a lot more...not sure my brother does...

The next ones are of a couple of the cars that were there testing. This Camaro went 8.90s

This Camaro was running in the low 10s

And this raodster was in the 10's (but the driver was just trying to get his license...)

Way to go Brad! I bet you're in hog heaven!
Pete Sorry to hear of your loss. Unfortunately it's a fact of life. I finished the cabinets at my in-laws this weekend. They are tickled pink to have their kitchen back. I have already gotten the pickup unloaded and washed. Rosie grilled some steaks for supper and now I'm trying to catch up on the emails from the last three days.

Here I am putting the first two base cabinets in.

And this one is the finished project.

Good morning, Americans! It's Friiiiiiday. Good to hear about things going on with you guys. Brad, I do hope things go well for you today and that you can get the Vette up and running without incident. 2 years old? Just had a birthday party for my #4 Granddaughters 2nd birthday, they do grow up fast.

Me, I'm waiting on a phone call to say the counter top is in for my in-laws, so I can pick it up and head east to finish installing their cabinets. Been waiting a month for the darn thing. This evening my little brother is going to try again to take his H-D "bobber" to the test and tune night at Great Bend Raceway. Two weeks ago he had a problem on the way there and didn't get to run it. If the counter top comes in and I get to the in-laws, I'll go over to watch him run the "bobber" this evening.

Everyone have a good day and a great weekend.

Morning guys, dang we could actually use some of that rain. Supposed to be 98 here today. Brad, sure hope you get it all together so you'll have a nice fathers day. I darn sure know about those gutter things, we have a two story house and the second floor gutters are a PITA to clean. That's a pretty nice dawg house, I could probably survive in that one

I have been out in the shop working on some shelving units and watching the grandsons. Wife is working today, so it's just me again with the boys. All three have ball games tonight so we will be running three different directions. My summer vacation isn't much of a vacation....

Hey Gurus...I missed yesterday entirely....my trip back to SW Kansas Monday was sidetracked. Monday the wife's mother had a Dr appointment in KC. She was to go with her to that (Rosie is an RN), well things didn't look so good so they made appointments Tuesday to see two specialists, so we got to stay over in a fleabag motel and go to the appointments yesterday. I guess everything is OK after all, and the wife feels better about being there for her mom and dad.

Today I had to clean the Vette, so I spent about 3 1/2 hours on that. Worked on a couple of computers and ordered the parts for a new computer. I also got wood in while I was gone for a couple of projects and I sprayed some lacquer on part of that.

Boyfriends...been there done that...can't say I'm sorry that all three of my daughters are married. Now we have to start dealing with the grandson, he's twelve and has discovered girls......

I'm up and at 'em already this morning. Not a lot planned, just a return trip home. 6 hours at least. I'll talk to you all tomorrow (God willing, and the creek don't rise). Have a good day.

Morning guys, I made the trip to KC yesterday. We got here just in time to head out to the Royals ball game. Had a great time and they won.

The Corvette ran flawlessly, had one guy try to take the front of it off on the turnpike, freakin idiot never looked as he was changing lanes.

This morning already we have been to $2 granddaughters' swimming meet. It was about 63* and the water wasn't much warmer than that. She's 6 and weighs about 40 lbs, she was an icicle. She did great though.

Chris you're a good man, I try to do similar things for our local charities, and you will be more than paid back, one way or another. Matt, it gets pretty frustrating trying to help some people (family seems to be the worst). Tommy sounds as though you have your work cut out for yourself, and I talking about keeping mom and son from getting at one another as well as the remodeling project. Guess I need to turn on the TV to SPEED.

I have #4 granddaughter's birthday party later this afternoon, but that's all I really have. Talk to you guys later.

Morning. I have to go work on a computer before the wife and I leave for KC, it's kind of a PITA but it helps keep me busy and I like the extra spending money. I have the Corvette loaded and ready to go.

We had some bad storms roll thru last night and a tornado south of town...not close and heading away from us but the fallout was pretty tough, quarter sized hail. I hope that the farmers didn't get hit too bad as we are just days away from what looked to be a nice wheat crop and around here we haven't had too many of those in the past several years. It's sunny this morning though. I have to get going here, Hopefully I'll check in tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to it. There is a Corvette show going on up in north KC on Saturday as well, I might drive up and have a look-see.

Heck Matt, I think I remember working on one of those Mustangs when it was about 6 years old and those same bolts broke off. One thing about those old cars, at least you can see and get to most everything without taking a bunch of stuff off first.

Brad, I can only imagine how yancy you are getting waiting for the engine to be reassembled.

I didn't get squat done yesterday, except get that computer fixed. Today I have to get out to the shop and get some work done. Tomorrow we head off to KC to visit the two daughters that live there, attend the second birthday party for my youngest granddaughter and take in a Royals game. It will be a full weekend. But the nice thing is we will be going in the Corvette.
