@Matt, that's funny!
The old man and mom and us kids spent the summer of 64 in Gainsville Florida on the U of F campus. They were teaching Peace Corps kids that were going to Brazil about the language and culture. They made 4K for that service and used a 1000 of it to buy a Motorola Quasar with the square tube. We had lots of folks stop by to watch the Peacock do it's thing on NBC. Florida was hot no air in the dorms back then but we got to go to Daytona most every weekend. Now that was cool. Atta boy Tyler, I might have to send you 20 bucks also to put down on some lucky numbers.

Good Morning! Up early and did excercise then a farmer showed up and I got that handled. Tommy, I'm thinking you will sleep good tonight.
Whenever I hear the I Love Lucy theme song I flash back to hot summer days with the screen door slamming and us kids running in and out to get something as Ma was ironing or folding clothes as she watched her morning programs. On a black and white TV of course. We didn't get air conditioning in the house until the early 60's when Ma put her foot down and told Dad that she wasn't going through another Kansas summer without it. Color TV in 64 so the old man could watch Bonanza. Brought to you by Chevrolet. Ron, you won't retire you will just do more of the things you like to do to make some bucks. Good luck with it, change isn't easy. Gotta go, let's hit a hard 3rd gear and get to the weekend. 70's here.

Jeff this is really off the wall but I had it happen to me. It started with the ticking noise that I noticed when I was waiting in line at Burger King. I could not find the problem. As the engine raced up the ticking would get worse and settle down with the rpms. Drove me nuts.
I could not find it but then other weird noises started which I would have a hard time explaining but whistling ehaust leak might get close. I used the old screwdriver stethescope and located what I thought was the source which was the air pump. I wanted to delete anyway, so I did. Didn't solve anything. Turns out I was close. It was the bearings in the alternator that were bad or something in there that was making all the noises. New alternator and all better. I realize this is reaching but thought I would share.

Sounds like a good plan Tommy. Weather not to bad here today so will try and get ready for the rush that is coming.
My wifes 50th b-day coming up and I have a bit of a plan. The plan I do have, she mentioned this morning that we should not spend a lot of money so don't do anything big. Too late for that. Let us endeavor to persevere today guru's. Have a good one!

G'Day mates! Woke up to a dusting of snow but the sun is trying to come out. The hired help is showing up today to begin the delivery work of what we sold this winter. Planting in 3 weeks which doesn't seem possible.

Morning. Cold and cloudy here. Had a fun night bowling with my daughter on Dad's night. I rolled a 95 and a 115 which was dissapointing since I really thought I could beat 120. I'm not very good at bowling. Daughter rolled a 134 and a 135.....I let her win.
After church some shop time on the 90 will be in order I think. Yikes, they think now that 10K may be dead over in Japan. Who builds nukes right next to the ocean when they know they have a history of this kind of thing? Enjoy your day!

It will be run on the dyno to see what kind of gain we get. I plan on running the stock cat back so I will go from the long tube headers to 3 inch cats to a 2.5 inch X pipe and on back to the stock cat back and stock mufflers.
Brad I went with the 2.5" X pipe for the smaller size so it fit in the tunnel better. I will have pics of it all when we get it installed. Wedding plans are moving forward and I am writing some checks. Sorry if we are jacking the original thread, but the exhaust debate is a hot topic on the guru.

Good morning, I'm mr. fix-it today with a long list of things in the house that need tending to. Then its work on the 90 for a little bit, I am taking out the disty and seeing where the oil leaks are coming from.
Then its off to the star city for dad and daughter night at my daughters sorority. We eat at the house then its off to a night of bowling. I hope I can break my 120 avg. Bowling never was my thing. Fun will be had I'm sure. Let's git er done today boys, have a good day!

I know the engine is a basic air pump that needs to get rid of the waste as fast as possible. If you go too big some back pressure is lost and that can affect performance as you stated. I know that is what happens on a Harley. We used to run drag pipes on our Sportsters for power and then learned that we could make more power with a crossover pipe and some restriction. Oh well, they sounded cool with the straight pipes.

I cut strips out of the left over pieces and used those on some of the areas where two sheets came together. I also cleaned up and put the regular shielding back on so that is covering up some of the Thermo tec. I used 4 of the 12x12 sheets.

   Don, these will be hard to figure out since I was laying on my back under the car. I used Thermo - Tec adhisive backed 12 x 12 sheets. After scrubbing the undersides and getting it all clean I held up the sheets and figured how they would fit and then cut accordingly. A lot of the areas the sheet just molded over the bends and changes in the surface. The passenger side was the toughest but it turned out ok. It is not perfect by a long shot but should stay in place. I used some NAPA spray on contact adhesive on the last sheet because I did not get the area clean enough to begine with. I got it clean but the adhesive on the sheet was done by that time so I had to spray it. I will see down the road if I should have sprayed them all. Hope that helps.

I don't know either Matt. I know something has to be done though. The other alternative is to raise the amount of taxes we pay to cover the costs. I'm thinking we would be in a 50% of our income tax range to float the State and Feds boat. We need some radical govt cuts and that means we all are going to feel the pain sometime or another.

Good morning everybody! Feeling a little more up to speed today. Hope to get some work done. It is cold and clear out today but warm is coming I am told. Tommy you just have to balance those days with the good ones. I try to have more good ones than the other kind.
Don, maybe you should add something to the title of your club like, Since 1956, or something of that nature. Something that denotes the history of the club. That's impressive that Dick Thompson was in on the formation of the club. Maybe, We can kick that other clubs ass! That would send a message. Have a good day today guru's.

One time we ran out of beer and a kid at the party said he knew where there was a lot of beer and we didn't have to pay for it, so we..........nevermind. If the dumbass had not stole the cash register with all the money we would have gotten in a lot less........nevermind.

I know 3" is too large but I have never heard that 2.5's would be going the wrong way. The stock system is 2.25 and are not we trying to make that flow better? What up?

With the help from the Guru, my plan is to install TPiS headers into 3" magnaflow cats into a Summet X pipe and then into the stock mufflers. All 2.5 inch after the cats. Have no clue how it will sound but can always change mufflers down the road if needed. I have a good shop in town who will do the fabrication if and when I get the headers installed.
I am hoping for around 1400 bucks with everything. I did install some added heat sheilding in the tunnel while I have everything off.

Good morning! I want to dwell in the past Tommy, the past week that is. We left Pheonix yesterday morning with blue sky and in the 70's and when we hit Omaha visability was just under minimums I'm sure and its drizzling and wet and cold and miserable. That's culture shock.
We had a great time, weather in the low 80's most everyday. Went to ballgames and movies and different places to eat. Most the time we just laid around outside at the pool. I like it down there, but I have never been there in the summer. Back to work this week and then it begins as we head towards planting season. I was hoping my other header would be here but it isn't so looks like I better get on the phone and see what is up with that. I did get the drivers side just before we left. Good to be back have a nice day guys.

Good morning! Matt, good work so far, Wow! Impressive! Bill the pride you must have to follow in Tommy's footsteps, unbelievable. Now if you just had appliences that would work this would be like a dream for you I'm sure.
My head cold has turned out to be hay fever and it's kicking my ass right now. It's the ceder tree and evergreen tree pollen that does it every year at this time. I ran out of Allegra-D's so having to get some more quick. We are leaving today for Phoenix and I do hope it is warmer there because it is only 10 degrees here and there is wind chill on top of that yet. I will check back in when we get back, have a good week everyone and congrats again to Matt and Bill I enjoy your posts and have learned a lot from you both. Thanks
