I like old el caminos - always wanted one when I turned 16. But that's the old ones. I think the new one looks crappy. I hate that Honda hyrbid truck/car thing, too. (ridgeline?)

I would have to go with bad ignition switch, as well. Is ithe ignition and key well worn?

Wow - that sucks. My dad had knee surgery about 2 years ago after he banged it on a machine at work. Wasn't a replacement, though. He was on crutches for a while afterwards, but the physical therapy helped a lot.

Good luck with it and keep us posted!

Yes, the date was with my wife...lol.

After being cooped up in the house with the little pooper, we decided to have a "date" for my bday (tomorrow). Dropped off Sammy at grandma's house and we went to a nice Italian retaurant just outside of downtown. We've been there a few times and enjoy the food.

Amazing how nice it was to get away for a couple hours just the two of us. Our friends told us to enjoy it while we could (pre-birth) but I never really believed them 100%. Now I understand....lol. I think we'll try to do this as often as we can - I think that's important.

I wanted to check out some car shows tonight, too, but with the crappy storms we have I don't think there's much goin on.

Anywho, hope everyone had a safe and fun Sat night!

Remember the book and procedural stuff for when you get out - that's what will save your job. The tactical stuff will save your ass.

Once you get in there, you'll learn how things are really run. Don't believe people when they say "forget everything you just learned, I'll teach you how it's done..." Those are the a-holes who are always in trouble and will get you in trouble, too.

And remember, those kids lie about everything. Take everything they say with a grain of salt. Instinct is one of your best tools.

Mine runs pretty strong after it starts up, too, but I think it's lacking a little in acceleration.

That's a good start. Need spark, fuel, and air to start!

I would check the fuel pressure at the rail, first. I actually need to do that to mine. I have a hard time starting the first couple turns, but then fires right up. I'm ASSuming at this point I have leaky injectors or a bad FPR. I just have to get to the store to get the gauges.

Keep us posted!

I dunno pappy, it should be possibly with the stick, but you might have to dump it. The 84 had what, 205 hp stock? I used to break the tires loose on my 88 blazer 2.8 liter, but that was a stick. I sometimes have a hard time spinning with my 89 auto, but I have brand new tires that are pretty sticky.

Kind of a trade off up here - salt eats the exterior of our cars up. But move out by you and every car has a trashed interior but a nice body. Oh well. Come to think of it, though, I could be happy with no snow

That is pretty lame about the trans pan rusting through - I've seen it with relatively new exhaust, but not a trans pan.

You must be having withdrawal!!!

I feel beat up! Baby was fussy last night and the wife was on the verge of a nervous break down...not funny, really. Every time the kid lets out a whelp, she wants to feed her or do something. I tell her, as long as she's not hungry, dirty, gassy, there's nothing wrong. Try telling that to a brand new mom who hasn't slept a full night in weeks! I literally forced her to go to bed and I took Sammy downstairs. She was a little gassy, burped, then fell asleep on my chest. About an hour later she woke up and I fed her a bottle. Then back to sleep. No more fussing the rest of the night. I think she slept another 4 hours after that. Mom got some well deserved rest, so I'm happy about that. I would still be sleeping, but the BIL called me (lost) and said "where's such and such street" in the middle of Chicago? Huh. I'm asleep...what. How do I know where some random street is? Chicago is huge...duh. So I went to yahoo maps, and after advising him that the street he thought ran N and S actually ran E and W, I had him on his way. Isn't the internet grand???

So that's my ramble...lol.

Hung out with my buddy last night who is a vette mechanic on the side. He was working on a beautiful C5 ZO6 doing a brake job. Man, seeing that car make me want to go out and get one! I don't think it's a practical option right now though....lol.

Oh well - TGIF for everybody, and hope everyone has a great day!

I've got a proposal for a name:

"Sits on the car lot and won't get sold" - it would look nice in script lettering.

Do you think they can fit that on the rear tailgate?

Haha....

Did it come off easily? Apparently the spare tire on my 89 has not been dropped in quite some time. It took me about 1/2 an hour with a breaker bar to get it off. Bolt was rusted inside the sleeve. I cleaned it and lubed it with some wd40 and pb blaster. Hopefully no more problems.

Good morning CGs!

How is the day going so far?

We had some pretty strong thunderstorms last night. So bad that we actually lost power for a brief moment, which is unusual because we live in a newer neighborhood with all buried electric. Strange. Luckily I had all the electronics turned off, so no worries.

Anyone have big plans for the day? Don't forget tonight is the return of CG Trivia! Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it, I have other plans. It always seems to work out that way (btw, Andy, where are my stars...hmmm???)

Nothing else on the agenda today. I have to vacuum the pool a little more, but it's going well so far. About to make french toast for the wife once she's done feeding the little pooper.

Hope everyone has a great day!

From the exterior looks to be in good shape. Not a lot of midwestern salty winters...

Photochop looks good - If you like that it would look cool with the top silver and the bottom metallic blue

ps - couldn't help but notice the C4 frame sitting in the background...

I got some things accomplished around the house today. Did open up the pool, but was disappointed to find that my pool cover had acquired two pencil eraser sized holes in it over the winter, allowing nasty water and sediment into the pool. Damn it. Water is still clear, luckily, w/o algae, but the bottom is covered with a thin layer of dirt. I've got the auto vacuum out there now.

About to go pick up some dinner for myself and the wife and then we'll enjoy a movie on the couch.

Hope everyone's day went well!

Yeah, I love the look. Sounds great, too. Minor drone at 1400, but nothing horrible.

If it continues to run can't it also be the module or headlight switch???

Well good morning CG's!

How is everyone's day so far? I've already worked on the vette today...lol. Background: I'm driving home from the store yesterday and I start to smell a little coolant. No biggie, I figure it's leftover from when I did the rad install. Then I notice the temp start to rise. Then the low coolant light comes on. Then the smell is really strong....damn it! I was only 1/2 mile from home, so I made it into the garage, noticed steam pouring from under the hood. WTF!?! Luckily, the temps only got up to 215 since I was close to home. Pop the clam, I see coolant shooting all over from the thermostat neck. Awww damn. Well, it was too hot to work on, so I went to bed. This morning I got out, took it apart and found the rubber gasket I used had somehow got unseated during the install, and the pressure blew everything out the side. Easy fix. New gasket (cork style, this time), a little RTV, everything's good.

Other than that it should be a good day. Temps are nice although a little overcast. I might even wash my car today! (which I never do!!!) I think there are one or two cruises I might try to stop by, if the wife will unlock the chain. We'll see.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Too bad it wasn't as perfect as described. I have done a lot of work on my 89 since I bought it (still worked on it this morning, in fact...lol). I really love working on it, though - it's my only real hobby.

Just a suggestion, if you get WS either get wilcox (from recommendations) or GM. I have some other BS WS and it's garbage. I wish I never installed it, but it came with the car.

Too bad you're not closer, I'd love to give you a hand with it.

Good luck,

Matthew

Glad you got it worked out! I seem to recall some people bumping the door, too, and getting it to work.

Why does it have to be LCD? Look at my old post for my DLP in the off topic section. I love it. During the promotion it came with a free stand. I just bought a basic HDMI cable on amazon for a few bucks - you don't need a $100 monster cable HDMI.

Yeah, the thunderstorms here are putting a damper on my pool plans for today. I wanted to go for a cruise, as well, but I guess that's a no-no, too.
