I am not defending them - and the fact this hasn't been locked indicates I am not protecting them, either - but I am just surprised.

A lot of folks have ordered from them and this is the first time I have ever heard of this kinda problem.

Can you link us the ebay ad?

If you don't enjoy what you do now, you won't believe the difference it can make in your life!

At twenty years old, I became the manager of a Kay Bee Toys in Pittsburgh, PA. I hated just about every minute of it. And even though my store won some kind of sales award, my supervisor hated me because I had long hair, and he was told he couldn't do anything about it. So, he made my life miserable instead. I had a nice car and great toys, but I quit to go back to school.

I kinda fell into the video production business. I just wanted to do something where I could wear my hair long, and dress how i wanted. My mom was a prof. at Penn State main campus in State College PA. So I moved in with her, and went to school for Film and Video Production "Because it was there".

I love it, and every day I can wake up and really dig what I'm doing. But I've been with this outfit for almost eleven years now. I don't want to stop being a video producer, but I really need a change of pace so I can feel recharged.

If you have faith that you can make a go of it, you owe it to yourself to try something new. I may be a few month from taking a bit of a plunge myself.

Best of luck!

That's surprising to me. I've had the best customer service from TLD. When I lived in Italy I ordered some exhaust parts from them and somehow double ordered. They called me twice the first time I wasn't home and they left a message with my wife, then they called back later to make sure of what I wanted to order. They also pretty consistently had the lowest prices of all of the "Vette catalogs".

I'm just a couple of years away from retiring from teaching. I'll take it as soon as I can. It won't be one of those retirements where I can quit working, just one that I can find a job which I don't have to work full time.

My principal is pretty good as are the other teachers I work with, it's just everything else (politics involved with education) that I am tiring.

That is an awesome feeling, Case! (your work situation, I mean) I used to have the same thing. But the bean counters took over in about 2004, and it has not been the same since. I still enjoy what I do, but I believe it is nearly time for me to do it for someone else.

I sure hope you can get your hernia issue sorted. Pain will wear you down after awhile. Maybe it's time for a new doc? It sounded to me like you had a problem with the last guy not doing his job right, and you wanted to make sure he took care of it.

If that's the case, it may just be wiser to cut your losses with that turd, and find someone who can make you right.

My thoughts are with you buddy.

Good Morning Gurus!

Man, it was nice having Monday off...

But it's back to work for me here in a few minutes.

Know what? I'm tired of working. I wanna retire, and just hang out at home.

Play with the kids, tinker with the cars, watch TV and surf the web.

Yeah, that's the life!

Only about thirty more working years to go!

They are NOT reputable at all.

They shipped me the WRONG PRODUCT when they KNEW it was the wrong product.

Now they say to just return it (at my expense of course, and they will not refund shipping to me). Sound familiar?

Overcharge for shipping then don't refund it?

Pretty simple stuff.

Also, I notice that 'corvetteforum' STILL doesn't want people to know about the crooked sellers. They protect them over there.

Checking the "rant" on that forum that posts commercials inside the threads, there's two pages of positive feedback about "TLD" before it got locked by Mojo.

I think a personal phone call by the OP might be in order, to straighten out the problem.
Seems to me, they (TLD) are a reputable dealer.

This is the second forum I've seen you post this on.

How about a link to the falsely advertised item?
(If they have other false stuff, I can start bombarding them with stupid questions)
Did you e-mail/contact them about it?
Did you provide bad feedback about them?

I've been fortunate over the past 4 years to never have a bad purchase on e-bay, but I always check the ratings before purchasing (not that that'll gaurantee anything)

I bought floor mats from these crooks and they shipped the wrong product.

Advertised incorrectly and they KNEW it was.

This was off Ebay. I should have known better.

Now they will refund my money if I return them.

sigh.

yea, I saw the game... most disappointing. In general, too many games killed me yesterday... I mean, the Eagles lead the entire game until the last 9 seconds... ugh. they suck.

also, saw the snow in Denver. We are getting Santa Ana's here today, and it's gonna be HOT!!! 90!!! That's just wrong... Here in Torrance, it rarely gets this hot... and when it does, it usually isn't October.

Good morning Gurus!

Normally I don't care for Mondays, but I'm taking the day off, so this one ain't so bad!

I was supposed to go to the Steelers/Broncos game last night, but decided that I would pass when I learned how bad my seats actually were, and found out temps would be near the freezing mark. Not so much just because of the cold, as worrying about the two hour drive in possible inclement weather, and the fact that I really don't have much in the way of winter clothing.

So I sold the tickets on Saturday, and took the family out for a nice dinner.

My wife and I were both supposed to go to the game, so we both took today off to recover. So we're gonna hang out today. Maybe take the Vette for a spin and do some shopping.

Enjoy your day guys!

The hell with that Case, we only love you for your car, did you think was something more personal?

All BS aside mate, you will regret doing this. Take a break? Sure we all need it occasionally, no need to sell the car.

Vettes can be frustrating at times, God knows they break but the Benz will bore you to death, at least if the Vette takes you out we know you will go in a blaze of glory1[B]

I have an '86 C-4. The rear window defogger has stopped working. I have checked all of the fuses, all of the connections to the defogger and run a meter to al of the connections and wires (that I am aware of) and I get a positive reading. Any ideas; anyone?

I would do a WTB thread here and on the Corvette Forum in the for sale section and see what comes up. Be specific on what you want and your car year:

WTB]

Thanks much for the tip! I posted your words on CF and found a nice set of polished, deep lug, A-Molds. Would have prefered chrome, but can be that choosey.

C4 Audio FAQ

This is a very hot topic for Corvettes these days. Many C4s are not worth the money to keep 100% OEM original, as such, the desire to upgrade the audio is very real. This is helped along by the shocking reality that the OEM audio was not all that durable nor does it sound very good.

This FAQ will help define some of the issues with modifying the C4 audio systems.

A simple rule: Only post issues related to the FAQ here. If you have a question, please, make a new thread. I will be monitoring this thread and will remove posts after they have been addressed, or, if they violate this simple rule.

The Technical Details:

There are two distinct generations of the Corvette audio system. Gen 1 is from 1984 to 1989, and Gen 2 is from 1990 to 1996.

From those generations, there are two distinct versions, the Delco and the Bose.

We will discuss the Bose systems first. In general, all Bose systems use a speaker module, with an amp and a driver (or drivers). The amps are all one (1) ohm stable. One ohm allows for a very small amp to provide decent power.

Gen 1 and Gen 2 Bose are not compatible with each other. Period. The Gen 1 is somewhat compatible with later GM head units, using an adaptor. The Gen 2 system is unique to the Corvette.

Gen 1 - 1984 thru 1989:

The Gen 1 Bose system consists of a 1.5 DIN head unit and four speaker modules. Each speaker module has a single 4" driver and a 50 watt amp.

The modules are tuned to enhance sound response beyond the natural ability of the speaker driver.

All years are compatible.

Gen 2 - 1990 thru 1996:

The Gen 2 Bose system is quite unique. Not only do we have the four speaker modules, we have a two piece head unit! The head unit (double DIN) is actually a dummy controller, the brains for the system is the reciever module.

The receiver module is located either in the dash (behind the glovebox) or in the left rear storage bin (behind driverseat). This varies from year to year, so please check the storage bin first. This also varies for coupe to roadster. I will update this FAQ as we totally isolate locations.

The Gen 2 speaker modules are different, too. The fronts use two drivers for each speaker, a 1.5" tweeter and a 4" midrange. The rears use a single 6" speaker. Thanks to porting, the rear 6" acts almost like a subwoofer.

The Bose head units are interchangeable, not only amongst Bose systems, but with the Delco system, too.

Base Delco

The base Delco systems are not that bad, and much easier to upgrade.

Gen 1

The headunit is a single piece, and drives conventional speakers.

Gen 2

The architecture is still the same - dummy head unit, receiver and speakers - it's just that the speakers are not powered by their own amp, but by the receiver module.

The front speakers are a pair of 5x7s and the rears are 6x9s.

<This is a living document, I have much more to add and will get on it later today>

with 11" rear rims, you are limited... just a bit of warning, there.

The Goodyear F1 is a great tire, as are the Michelins. Goodrich rocks... the firestones are highly regarded, but I don't like firestone very much. Bridgestone is only marginally better.

I have Toyos, but I don't know if they offer the fat rear tire.

FYI: I am going to hook us up with the Tire Rack shortly - like soon - as in the next few days, I hope!!!

I guess the question is what/how are you going to drive your Vette? What do you expect out of your tires? If you are looking for mileage then Sumitomos aren't a good choice. My Falken ZE512's have given me pretty good mileage but I don't really consider them a top notch performance tire (but then again that is not what I am using my Vette for).

You have to ask yourself those questions and answer them frankly and honestly.

I would hate to see you leave Case, but I do understand where you are coming from. When you get to CO, let me know as I'd still like to meet you.

BTW I voted that you're a F***ing lunatic, but it has nothing to do with your thinking about selling the Vette.

No mate, the auto is perfect. I dont like manual unless im playing a video game. I like automatic, its just the way i prefer to drive.

The C4 handles fine with the leaf springs, Dick Guldstrand retained them on many of his versions of the C4. They are a great setup i reckon.

AMG may be a modded Benz, but its not really a common one (although the newer ones seem to be getting more common). They didnt make many C43s between 97 and 2000, infact they made more C4s each year then they did C43s in 2 years (apparently only 25 2000 model C43s went to the US) but im not worried about having a rare car or a common car or any of that,

Looking for any feedback on which tires I should buy. I have a 87 vette with ZR-1 rims. My last set are Sumitomo HTR tires (frt 275/40zr17 r 315/35 zr17) . I wore these out in about 12,000 miles. Maybe I like canyon running to much. shatwatt
