I realize this is a bad time and I will probably have more luck in the spring, just thought I would let the Guru community have 1st dibs. Car is in the C4 Pictures and Fun Stuff- entry was with my name and the stripes and marked FOR SALE. Flyboy , yes, I do have the 2 tops and the stripes were/ are vinyl so they are removeable. If anyone is interested I can e-mail pictures.

Got my headers( ceramic coated) from Exotic Muscle and must say they look way too sharp to put onto the Vette. What gasket and bolts do you recommend for maintainance free driving?

Thanks, Guys, will be sending back my 160 and getting a stock 180 stat. Marcus I do have an LT1 but was reading on the LS forum and was getting info from that forum. My assumptions have been proven wrong but I knowledge is always a learning process. I will get there eventually.

If I run a cooler thermostat, won't that allow the fans to kick on earlier and therefore promote better cooling?

Ok, after the Metro Cruise I purchased a 160 degree stat from Summit. Before I install it , is there anything I should know- Do I or should I set the fans to kick in at a lower temp.? If so , how? Is there anything in the computer that needs to be changed? Anything with the ECM? ( not that I really know what the ECM is but Iread on the LS1 tech forum it was needed). Or do I simply install the thermostat like I have done with the older small block v-8. Would like to be proactive rather than reactive.

AMEN!!! Especially rule 8.
After haveing spent 35 years in the middle school as an educator it is always amazing to me the mentality of some students. Of course when you meet some of the parents you understand why the kid is the way he/ she is.

Ok, it is a long story but I have a chance to get my 1967 Camaro back. It was sold to Freedom Christian and was to be used as a raffle. Now the guy who won it does not want it. It was offered back to me and yes, sellers remorse has set in. I would love to have it back BUT I need to sell my Corvette. $11,000.00 is what I bought it for and does not cover the headers. Any interest?

Posting of pictures - would love to but someone is going to have to explain the process to me.

Just got back home, stripe looks good - for vinyl. seems the vinyl on the side fender stripes is a gloss and the hood stripe, gas panel, etc are more of a matted finish. I need some sun to let it set outside and see how it looks. For now it does the job. (}-= next step or improvement is wheels. Looking at the Vintique Wheel website and lioke the V40 wheel. basically a old Torque Thrust wheel if you remember back then. Want to paint the black spokes white to match my body color. Will see what happens.

Good morning , everyone. Today I finally get my vette back from the body shop where I had the Grand Sport stripes done in red put on to the Vette. The shop has had it 4.5 days and last night( Friday) I get a phone call to come and pick it up Sat. after lunch. Owner of the shop said he had some problems getting the stripe top lay right and does not expect me to be happy. C'mon after 4.5 days. Will see this afternoon. If not happy , I am not out anything but my time adnd deprivation of not having the Vette home. I did want it back so I could have gone to Detroit for the Dream Cruise. Hopefully I can get it squared away for the Metro Cruise in Grand Rapids next weekend. Will see what happens this afternoon. Have a good one , people!

Bill H. - You mention using the digital gauges on the dash instead of the analog- I beter get the owners manual out. am I assuming one of the switches ( Eng./ Met. ) and the others allow me to do this. Yes, I am very new to this. thanks

A couple of questions then a few things to look into:

- did this happen while in stop/go traffic or on the freeway? Does it heat up in traffic and then cool down above about 40mph?
- how far into the trip did it happen?
- Can you hear the fans running?

1. Trash/debris in front of the radiator - take a flashlight and look into the radiator shroud from the passenger side
2. Old radiator - could be clogged inside or between the fins (either way should replace it)
3. Run car at idle, what temp do fans kick in (and/or turn on AC - does second fan come on?)
4. New thermostat
5. Are you losing coolant? Is there a bubbling noise in the overflow tank after you switch the car off?

Andy-
1. It happens in stop and go traffic / low cruising
speed.
2. If I get it above 35-40 yes, it cools down.
3. It happened half way through the cruise- cruise was
approx. 10 miles- take or give a few miles. In and
around Coopersville.
4. Can't hear the fans kick on until in the hash marked
area of the gauge. What's that 230 degrees or more?
5. Will go out and look now around radiator for debris.
6, I am assuming it is original radiator- car has 61,000 miles on it.
7. Had the Vette in the driveway Sat. and turned it on ,
left it idling to see what happens- approx. 3 min.
later I have a temp. gauge that is almost pegged.Did
not hear fans kick on. Bad relay? Switch?
8. Have purchased a new thermostat and will put that
in. No coolant is being lost or seeen on the garage
floor or ground. No bubbling sound

thanks for the help.

Good morning everyone. This past Friday night I took my 94 on its 1st car cruise in Coopersville for the Del Shannon car cruise. Had to pull out part way - my temp. gauge registered almost 260 degrees , I was in the hash marked area. Other than checking the thermostat is there any thing else I should look into? I can't beleive the LT1 should run this hot normally or am I paranoid?
Thanks in advance

Wow! thanks for al the input-
1. Don - in the Pm I was assuming a tune up and in my mind it is like a mid-60s small block. No mods to the engine other than adding headers. thanks, Don
2.Bill H. thanks for the parts # and source for the wires. Will be on the Summit website.
3, tjpreul- I am sure I have no clue about your response but will have someone who does guide me through it.
4. Matatk- Ordered themn w/ AIR fittings. originally 2was going to do so w/out fittings but changed my mind.
Have to realize I am a ROOKIE at the mechanical aspect. I am a good detailer, grease monkey, and am learning about the LT1.
Hope this helps , I appreciate all the input.

Ok, I am soon to be putting on headers from Exotic headers on to my LT1- 1994 vette. It has been recommended that when I do this I get a tune up- being new to the LT! does this mean plugs, wires, timing, as we did with the "old" small block? Do you do anything to/ with the computer? having asked this, your ? is , is the motor stock or basically stock?- yes, it is so far. Time , money , research, and a wife with a sense of humor will determine how far I can go.
Cheers,
Also, for those in Michigan area this Saturday is the Grand Haven Coast Guard car show/ cruise- In. begins 7:30- 2:30.
$10. registration.
Aug. 13 is Coopersville Del Shannon car show w/ approx. 700 cars usually showing up- unless it rains.
Aug. 20 - Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit.
Cheers!

Ok, I have ordered from Exotic Muscle a set of ceramic coated headers for my LT1 in the '94 Vette. After having read previous posts on different forums I am having hem made up w/out the AIR fittings. Now my ? When I get them what do I do w/ the AIR pump and lines that went to the headers(?) By not getting the fittings on the headers does this change anything for my computer/ sensors?
