Word of the Day Tuesday, June 25, 2013

dilly\ DIL-ee \, noun;

1. Informal. something or someone regarded as remarkable, unusual, etc.: a dilly of a movie.

Origin:

Dilly is thought to have come to English by combining the first syllable of delightful and delicious with the -y suffix meaning "full or characterized by."

Don't dilly dally around. What are you packing ? A shirt, a pair of underwear and a toothbrush? That's about all you need. ;)

Good Morning CGs!

We had a pretty intense storm here yesterday. It honestly came from nowhere with wind gusts that I would estimate at least 80 mph. It blew a bunch of things out of the pool, took my neighbor's chairs off the porch, lifted up my in-laws bbq and threw it, broke some power poles and tree branches, etc. It was almost like a microburst. And it poured. And then it was over. Very strange. Luckily no damage for us. We didn't lose power but the in-laws did for a brief period.

The good news is that yesterday I finished the transmission in the car!!! It started off slow because one of the trans lines I originally intended on changing wouldn't come out of the car without removing the engine so it had to stay. I just added another compression fitting splice which I didn't want to do but was necessary. Fitting the trans itself wasn't that bad. Once it was in we filled it and I took it for a test drive for about 2 miles. Shifts nice. The 1-2 shift is almost unnoticeable whereas before it banged hard. I will drive it a couple hundred miles before I really beat it up to make sure the clutches get lubricated and fluid is everywhere it needs to be. Overall I'm extremely happy and relieved it is done. Now I can move on to the next project....door panels.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Goomawnin gurus.

I picked Sue up from the airport yesterday afternoon. The flight was delayed for landing. When it did land, there was another plane at it's gate, so they had to wait to disembark. Most airports I go to have a number of empty gates. Why do they put a plane at a gate where another plane has to go for it's routine flights. I actually have a hundred why questions for major airport staff but it's not worth pursuing. Many airport are run by the counties with federal, state and local government agencies present. Need I say more? They would baffle you with bullshit. A common technique.
Here's another WTF. The Florda Turnpike wants to elevate tolls by a dime to generate more revenue, as they overplant massive sections of roadside as part of a beautification project. And here is another goat getter. Why is there not an ordinace to prevent the planting of large trees under powerlines? I see plans approved regularly that include planting huge palms next to utility lines. Then the power company comes along and whacks the heads way back to get them away from the powerlines. This usually creates and unhealthy condition for the tree where #1, it looks like crap, #2, many of the trimmed trees die. Stupidity flourishes. ............ I need more coffee and a change of thought. I need to be thinking of self absorbed, materialistic wants and needs. Mostly wants.

Brad safe journey to the center of the earth....We had our regular morning thunder storm and it was a dilly....got some rain though. My lawn is slowly coming back but it is not what it once was.....screw it.

I'm tired and burnt out and I think I will take a week off here over the fourth. I used to always do that, then as the busness grew started getting away from it. Time to start up the tradition again and re create myself...there is a word of the day for you....recreate...

Was going out for a ride in the Vette the other night and went by the neihbors just as he was pulling his 91 vert our of his garage to do the same thing....he invited me along so we had a nice top down drive on a warm summer evening. It's a 6M car and the interior is rough and after being in the C5 and C6 seemed tight to me, but I enjoyed the ride.

Matt sounds like you are on your way hope it all holds together for you.

Tommmy..........just keep doing what your doing.....you can't worry about what you have no control over....which is advice I need to listen to and follow.....it is what it is...

Ok now I have to get ready for big Tuesday....so here we goooooo....be careful out there Guru's...

I'm pretty good at doimg that. I try to focus on what I'm doing with lingering thoughts of what I have to do next and list things that I plan to do. I guess that's what happens when I get out of my comfort zone. (My little piece of heaven) I've had a sinus headache lately and that foolishness gives my headache a headache.

Marcus Do you mean recreate as to remake or recreate as to have fun doing something or both?

I always try to Focus on DNBFS with thoughts of what I have to do next which is more DNBFS. Smilie  And I write up lists of things that I plan to do then Focus on them right up to the time that I throw them away, evil4

Liberals.

They're doing that here, planting the on-ramps. Putting stone and river rock in patterns around the plants. Crews are painting horseys and cowboys on the overpass bridge sides. They put up some metal deer "sculptures' in the median on I80 (which are more like "targets").

And the streets are full of potholes.

I always thought recreate came from recreating ones self mostly by DNBFS....but don't you think unlimited DNBFS is somewhat decadent or even sinful....?

AFternoon y'all...
Storms all around here yesterday, just not HERE... My stress level dropped a bit for a while - got the ankle deep of green sludge out of my 'kiddie pool' and it's now clean and running, the book layout I was working on for the newspaper I used to work for went off to the printer, the moving of my cousin's things is complete, the house is somewhat clean, then I gathered up the tax stuff for my friend at the body shop and dropped that mess off and I smelled coolant in the Vette. BAD.. chokingly bad. Two pinholes in the tank squirting at the side of the engine. Figures - I had just filled it up with gas since it will be sunny all week. I will go back to my usual routine like my ghetto counterparts and put $5 to $10 worth of gas at a time in it, then nothing will break.
lunch time - gonna be a good day, tater...

Is this a neat picture? Looking down on rainbow is not something that you experience every day.

Mark Twain started his writing career in Virginia City at one of the four daily papers that were operating at the time.
