Good Morning CGs!

Well, my days of playing are over. Gotta go back to work today. Oh well. My dad's stay is over as well, he'll be driving back home this morning. Glad we were able to get everything going with the 79. It'll still be at my house for a couple weeks until I work out the final bugs with it. No biggie. I'm gonna stop by the parts store today and see what they've got.

What's everyone got planned for the weekend?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Hello everybody. We had loads of fun last night at the track. Makes me wonder how I never got to do that before. Mrs T-Bone had better times of course. She asked me if I wanted to try the 91 but I didn't want to jump from stick to auto to stick. Especially since I missed a couple of shifts driving the 90. I needed to concentrate on catching third. I have opportunities to participate in DE events sponsored by PCA on the road courses at Homestead, Sebring and Palm Beach International Speedway. I'm going to concentrate during a year to doing that. They run at each track at least 2 times annually. Maybe in 2010. I need to get a helmet. Mainly I am doing this for fun. I'm getting a little too old to start taking myself seriously about competition. Besides that I'm too cheap to dedicate the funds needed to launch any kind of serious effort. I'll just keep doing a little of this and a little of that and enjoy what I can. If anybody wants to see the time slips they are in the Drag Racing Section. First time be gentle thread. Have a great weekend. I'm off to cut some grass.

I did the wet sand of 1500 & 2000 yesterday. Going to do 3000 this morning then buff. Start putting everything back on like windows, mirrors lights, door handles, lights and stuff. After that I'm taking a break. Won't stop raining here so fishing's out. Could use a break anyway. This wet sanding wear's an old fart out.

But it's still September, Mike. Do you have to stay there until October?

My favorite beer is the one sitting in front of me.

Good Morning Gurus!

I'll be editing for moat of the day today.

Congrats on getting out there, Tommy! Maybe someday I'll get the courage to do the same. But I have somewhat of an obsessive compulsive personality, so who knows what would happen of I ended up enjoying myself...

I think Chris had a Freudian slip when he typed "moat" instead of "most" - his inner avatar must be showing ;-)

Beer and drag-racing sounds like much better alternative to hanging some blinds today. I also need to wash yesterday's rain off of the Vette.

I keep thinking I'd like to wet-sand the hood of my car, as there's a lot of tiny pits (probably from sand, etc.). But I'm askeered to try it. I have carefully wet-sanded and buffed a couple of scratches that came out fine, but I am hesitant to tackle the whole hood.

I'll chip in a word for the day:

assuage - [uh-sweyj, uh-sweyzh]

–verb (used with object), -suaged, -suag⋅ing.
1. to make milder or less severe; relieve; ease; mitigate: to assuage one's grief; to assuage one's pain.
2. to appease; satisfy; allay; relieve: to assuage one's hunger.
3. to soothe, calm, or mollify: to assuage his fears; to assuage her anger.

In a sentence:

I saw a gal at Wal-Mart - she was skinny on top, but her assuage about 250lbs.

Afternoon guys. I got up early and took an hour trip to take the grandson to his football game. They lost, but they had a good time. stopped on the way home and ate, then came on home, unloaded the junk and then took the grandson back to his mom (and half hour drive the other way). Did some grocery shopping and just got back. Hopefully tomorrow I can rest.

Tommy, sounds like you had fun. I have some areas on the front of the Corvette, several on my pickup and a couple on the wife's car that need some wet sanding, but like Brad I'm a bit hesitant to start in.

I love assuage off the grill. Put on some onions, ketchup, and mustard on top and I'm good to go.

I hope you and Brad are using a clay bar before you sand. It eliminates the grit your sandpaper will push deeper into the paint.
And when you're sanding with 1500 -3000, doing figure 8's will reduce the swirl marks.

Got it buffed. Man it's like a piece of glass. Flat wore me out though. If it ever stops raining I'll get it out and get some pics.

Bill thanks for the advice...I had no idea that I should do it in a figure eight. I never dreamed of even thinking about anything more coarse than 3000. I've watched several videos on Youtube and read lots on how to do it, but didn't know about the figure eight...makes sense though.
