I found this cool scan of a picture of the St. Louis Arch as it was being constructed. I then thought, how cool would it have been to be standing there watching it all taking place from such a great position.

Then I thought, how cool would it be to be there watching and look down as see a young Darth Vader standing there on the shore with you?

LOL.

interesting doc, too.

When they mated the two halves, they had to cool one side and warm the other... That fixed the minor mismatch.

I'm curious how one goes about cooling or warming a half of an arch that big. Do you have the details about how they did that?

Very cool! I've only been to St. Louis once, but had to take a ride in the Arch.

Clark - Hey hey kids see that, its the St. Louis Arch. The gateway to the west. Its over 600ft tall, and there is an elevator all the way to the top. Thats 60 stories to you and me.

Russ - Wow, Dad can we go up on it.

Clark - No.

It was rather clever... the sun warmed one side, water cooled the other.
