Installed a pcm for less chip Friday. Wow what a difference. Kelley and Bryan were extremely helpful in the burning of my chip to my engine specs and what I wanted to accomplish with present modifications. No service engine light, perfect idle,no codes and renewed confidence in the 87. I don't know if any gurus have tried them but I was really impressed. I still had idle problems after replacing all primary suspects, injectors,IAC,total tune up, vac leaks, and MAS until I figured the chip might be the problem, whats another couple hundred bucks when I've replaced all this other stuff. Put on 125 miles with out any problems. Its suppose to snow today, 65 yesterday and sunny. Ahhhh spring time in Indiana.

So can they increase performance and MPG with their tuning, for a '95?

Bryan Herter is the dude! He did mine and seems to be very good. I will find out later this summer when I get the bucks to do the dyno tune I have been talking about for years.

Who pissed on your corn flakes, Joe? I guess everyone should do everything technical on our cars ourselves. Hell, where are you rubber trees? Are you making your own proprietary compound for the tires you have on your car? Where is your oil derrick? Because I'm sure you are making your own motor oil, and processing your own gasoline to make it a perfect blend. After all, that's what a GURU would do. Sheesh. That's complete bull and very immature to call someone out on a forum like that.

For the record, Ron, I'm glad you are happy with your chip. When it comes time to get mine, I'll be having Mick (MSeven) do it.

Glad to hear that. I've had mediocre luck with Tpis. I'm waiting for a call on a dyno tune.
I spent several hundred $ on a laptop, cable, the programs, etc. for DIY datalogging and spent many hours trying to do same. Since I have gained some patience with age, I have not yet taken the computer out to the range and filled it full of lead.

I wish I would have known about you, maybe you could have burned my chip. FYI no one outside of me ever touches my vehicles, I do everything! but a man has to know his limitations and burning chips is not mine. Thats why I joined this blog to learn from others. Its called life long learning. Now I'm not pissed just amused that anyone would write this. I thought this was a forum to share information and experiences with corvette owners. Wow

No. But I'm getting sick of reading posts where people give advice on picking camshafts, engine combos, head experts - damn do we have head experts..

YET - the same posters can't dial in an air fuel ratio and timing curve?

Seriously. Think about it.. How the hell could people debate all these combos, timing events of cams, airflow, yet they don't even know how to feed the motor?!?

"GURU" is misleading.

And I had lucky charms this morning, not cornflakes..

This is a forum to share. If you had asked about tuning I'm sure guys would have jumped in and helped. It's not a black art anymore. The information is everywhere.

I understand your frustration! Many hardcore guys will modify anything to get more performance. Again learning the details from others is a valid reason for a post. Its better to research others and pick their brains about such things. Hell I modified a Toro zero turn radius 25 hp Kawasaki engine to get more. Joe, I joined this blog because my 87 vette was beginning to have issues not because I was a Newbu I bought it new. Andy and the rest of the "Gurus" patiently walked me through the experiences that they have experienced. Now a"normal" person would have said Fu*^ It and take it to a dealer a Corvette Specialist. Never stereotype people you don't know. Have a great day.

I know how to tune! this was a computer chip issue! nothing more nothing less.I'm smart enough to realize what my next logical step was.

It seems like Share and Belittle don't belong together in a conversation about vettes. I usually don't rant but I had mini wheats this morning without the piss.

You had Kelley and Bryan? I had Alvin, for the same year car, an 87.

I had a totally different result. Glad it worked for you.

maybe alvin learned his limitations. lol. and its alot cheaper to pay $175 for a mail order tune then for all the software and accessories involved in tuning. especially for a lesser modded car.. just saying.

Sorry to hear that Dale. Kelly and Bryan were so professional and even e-maied me twice to make sure they had it right and then a follow up email to see how it worked. Wow I don't know Alvin

Alvin was hard to reach, and complained that he was busy and I was too impatient. He even registered here and made 1 post to a thread I started about my experience. All I know is I spent a lot of time and money getting my car to run right without the chip to prove the problem was the chip. If I ever need or want a tune again, I'm going with mseven.

Wow I must have missed that post! I decided to go with PCM because my neighbor had problems with two other chip companies. He finally went with PCM with great results. One bad experience is all it takes! Got the Hershey Squirts at McDonalds once never went back.

I would image there are a lot of variables when burning a chip for a customer. I think vette owners are really particular regarding performance tweeking that last bit and for me it was the chip. Probably would have had the same results from someone else, was just impressed with the customer service and the details.
