Thanks to the Guru and Chris May at Superior Chevy.
Chris if your out there - My neighbors hate you. I could see them looking out their windows and standing on their front stoops looking (with smiles) when the 92 wouldn't start earlier this week. I came home today and like magic there was a nice little GM box of fix it.... Now for some shameless self made videos. Idling nicely at 950RPM.... |

At first listen, on the second video, I thought your Vette sounded a little like a weed whacker. As a neighbor I would love to here that rumbling sound. Every week I give all our cars a good 10 minute run together. One of my neighbors loves it. I'm sure. Your car sounds rkless.

Thanks. I knew a real racing single plane with a big plenmum and long runners would be killer in the midrange RPMs and an absolute monster on the top end. It really has a very explosive power delivery. I always get the "WTF just happend" look when I take folks for a ride in the car. It's so docile just driving around (as oposed to how it sounds) and then at WOT it's just an animal... This intake was orginally a Edelbrock PN 2925 Super Victor. It's been modified heavily to work on my car by 3 different people (Jeb Burnett, Me, Denny Smight). That story is a long and sucky soap opera I don't want to detail. I don't know what else to tell you about it. I have plenty of pics on my Photo Bucket detailing the port work I had Denny at JDS Induction do to it last year and those pics also show the injector bungs and fuel rail mounting system. That stuff was all fabricated by hand, then fitted to the intake and TIG'd together. You can see as well where the orginal 23* cyl head mounting holes have been welded up and the LTX bolt pattern has been milled into it. http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f30 ... sdriver/Corvette/?start=0 4yrs after it was orginally built I would definatly do some things differently in the construction. Biggest thing I would change is to leave the intake bolt pattern as the old style 23* cyl head and drill and tap that intake bolt pattern in the LTX heads - instead of converting the intake bolt pattern to LTX. Also IMO there are better and more cost effective intakes out there to start from for this conversion now.... back in 2005 this was the best option, but it cost alot in time and money. Performance wise I'm pleased. You'd have to ride in it to know what it's all about. You have a standing offer from me to do so if you are ever in the area. Will |

Sweet. You would think that Edlebrock would make a manifold that simply bolts on.
Even GM made this http://www.streetperformance.com/part ... fold/687634-24502592.html |

Funny thing is Edelbrock cast that intake for GM... It's a matter of production cost v/s profit. With so few people willing to modify an LTX to this level, there is not much profit in building intakes for it. GM had them built because like today with the LS1, 2, 6,7, 9 - in the 90's GM offered LT1's and LT4's as over the counter crate motors out of the GMPP book. They knew some people would want to stay w/a carb in their kit car builds. Will |

Thank you. The car runs pretty strong. Cam is no secret. Mike Jones Cam Designs EHR74365/75365 288/292@.020 242/246@.050 .365/.365 lobe lift (.620/.620 with 1.7) 106 ICL (degreed in @107.5) 110 LSA 1.130 BC These lobes Mike has are commonly refered to as inverse flank (shaped like a peanut). They have very aggressive opening ramps (because of the shape) and that allows his grinds to use less advertised duration to get the same RPM out of an engine as a regular non inverse lobe. The down side is with the bigger lobes. You can't cheap out on valve train parts or set up. Will |

That sounds...DIRTY!
I was going to ask about the cam as well. I run stock SCR with a similar cam, just a little smaller. .571 / .574 with 1.6 rockers, 112 LSA plus 2*. Although we degreed it back to 0* advance try and lower the power a bit. I don't think it worked, ran 396 hp/390 tq on the dynojet last weekend in 96* heat and high humidity. For those that like to debate power numbers vs temperature, it ran it's highest at 180* (engine water temp). It dropped 10 hp to 386 when the temp hit 220. My efforts were a big fail, I was targeting 375 peak hp. Turns out it's easy to make power, it's harder to get it out of an overbuilt motor. Time to try the stock TB. |

I wouldn't try that unless you have good lifters. What are you running? I had some "stock" style CompCams lifters that wouldn't stay oiled over 6500. I upgraded last year and have had success, but I left the rev limiter at about 6800 where yours is now. |
