I had a similar issue a few months ago. My high beams would not come on at all. Adjusting the switch, sliding it toward the steering wheel, was easy enough (2 screws). Getting everything out of the way so you can access it is the slow part.

Just finished performing the adjustment proceedure (3 times actually). With the pedal pressed firmly to the floor, I can still open the throttle blades a tiny bit (prob less than .125") more by hand.

The amp is finally in! The rear speakers came alive now I need to figure out something for the front. I have 4 or 5 different things I'm thinking of for the front.... it might take a while.

Here is a list of what's installed at the moment:

* Head unit: JVC KW-XR810
* Front spkrs: Infinity Kappa 42.9i (temporary)
* Rear spkrs: Infinity Kappa 692.9i
* Amp: Alpine PDX-F4 (100 w/ch. RMS)

Here are a few pictures as promised.

The amber color on the HU actually matches the factory lighting much better than the photo shows. I cut the "fins" out of the console and lined it with felt/carpet.

Thanks for all the input guys. The amp's dimensions are: 10-1/8"W x 2"H x 8-9/16"D. It's a class D amp that can be stacked so heat is not a major concern here... not losing any cargo space is the big concern for me. There is plenty of room in the bin but.... it's mostly thin fiberglass so that throws a little wrinkle in the mounting. I thought of the area behind the passenger seat but soon realized that seat (and mine too for that matter) is usually within 1/2 in of the wall or even touching.

I included a couple pics of the power wire through the firewall.

Where is the best place to go through the firewall with the constant 12v cable? I have the battery out and I don't see a place to slide anything through. I've always been able to slide these through existing grommets next to factory wires. No luck so far with this 93 C4.

That looks nice! Makes me wish I hadn't disposed of my rear inner grills.

Question: How are the speakers mounted? I am about to rip out all the interior (again) to install an amp and want to get rid of the 4's in kick panels and mount some 5.25 components in the doors.

So it sounds like turning the ASR off with the button on the dash still limits the throttle input if the cable is not calibrated correctly???

I suggest an OEM AC Delco unit. I replaced the EGR with a cheap, parts store brand on a suburban not too long ago and the valve simply wasn't good enough. (barely improved emissions test results and still failed). Replaced that EGR with an OEM unit (which cost 3X more than the cheap one) and it passed easily.

if i can ask what was the process you used .did you color sand by hand and what compounds did you use to bring the shine back after color sanding .i just got a hutchins waterbug air color sander and am going to tackle my blk zr1 with it but am a little unsure of the compounds used/needed to bring it back .dont mean to hijack ,just wanted to hear what another vet owner used

After color sanding by hand I tested an area with 3M Perfect-It 3000 Rubbing Compound and Meguiars Heavy Cut Cleaner. I prefer the 3M products but they are more expensive and I could not tell the difference on this white car. So, I used the Meguiars Heavy Cut, followed by their Fine Cut with wool pads on a circular buffer. Then I used Zaino Fusion (swirl remover) with a foam pad on a Porter Cable 7424 XP. After this came the multiple layers of Zaino Z2 with ZFX and applying Z6 between the coats of Z2.

However, If my car was black, (have had many, BMW, Audi, Cobra, Trans Am to name a few), I'm sure the 3M products (and many others) would prove superior. Black is the least forgiving and demands the best products and techniques. There are a lot of excellent products out there now. Most are easiest to find on the internet.... check out http://www.autogeek.net (as an example)

Thanks man. That pic is from the day I bought it. Yes, the car is white. White does hide a lot. I had to constantly spot-light it. I'm sure there are couple of small areas that will a need little work this spring (the next time we see sun up here).

Nice! What's your impression of ride/handling with the new sport shocks and your base suspension?

It's tough to make a fair comparison because the shocks that were on the car when I bought it last year were original with 120k on them as far as I could tell (Bilstein/Delco). They were bouncy, uneven, and the fore/aft motion when on less than perfect streets made me check my mirrors for a down water-skier. These things were really shot.

I don't think the sports are harsh or too firm at all. I like them. It feels like a Corvette should. Handling is much improved all the way around.

Had a very busy but productive month or so with my Corvette. Thanks Guru's for all your help with many of these items.

* Removed the interior (exc dash) and cleaned everything.
* Cleaned the pwr seat switches now all but function works.
* Completely removed all remnants of the Bose system installed a new stereo system. (will elaborate in audio).
* Lined the console and rear compartment with felt.
* Replaced the climate control bulbs (de-solder, install, re-solder).
* Painted/dyed the halo black (should have come this way from the factory).
* Replaced the windshield/pillar, rear roof/pillar, targa, and hatch weatherstrip.
* Installed LH footwell courtesy light (mine was missing).
* Replaced the incandescent power driver
* Brakes: New master cylinder, rotors, and pads. (not to mention about 4 quarts of brake fluid to flush all the old crap out)
* Had to tap the rear roof mounts (ok, that just sounds wrong)
* Replaced the floor mats
* Installed a rearview mirror w/ lights. (mirror was missing).
* Installed a new EGR valve.
* Installed a new IAC connector.
* Installed 4 new Bilstein sport shocks.
* Adjusted the headlight dimmer switch so the brights actually work now.
* Installed new headlights. (GE Nighthawk)
* Installed a new gas filler door emblem
* Installed new lug caps
* Wet sanded, buffed (several times), and applied numerous coats of Zaino.

I'm sure there was more.... just can't recall everything.

Bottom line: Did this fix the problem? I've been chasing the same issue for the last 6 months. Nothing seems to make a difference in my car.

I bought the tools from Summit. While on there, I noticed they had the IAC pigtail for $5.95 so I went that route. Just going to use the connector and some Stabilant22 or DeoxIT to on the leads.

Nothing like reviving an old topic. I was connecting my new (to me) rear-view mirror and when I turned the parking lights on..... no interior lights (ex. instruments and courtesy). I perused my (also new to me FSM) and there it was... this "incandescent power driver" thingy. Never heard of such a thing. I located it, ran the tests and it appears to be the problem. To my amazement, this part seems to be available everywhere and is less than $40. I can sleep now!

LOL, I'll be careful and use common sense with regards to the torque figures.

I'm sure it will be confusing, GM is great at that. The FSM for my old 70 Z/28 advised disconnecting the negative battery terminal to avoid jumping the starter when replacing the oil filter. I want to see the tool that removes the filter from the other side of the block!

Exactly Andy. I would use those wires for the switches only. The main power will might come from the existing side bolster or lubmar motor power leads. When I redo the seats, I plan on converting them to the standard type. My side bolsters and lumbar inflatables don't work and I like the look of the standard seats better. (plus I don't think the seat heaters would work with the sport seat's speed bumbs.)

I am in the middle of installing a new audio system and I ran across some wires and plugs that are not connected to anything or have been taped off. One is near the right-rear defroster lead and the other is near the pwr seat controls. Can anyone identify these?

The audio system is almost done. I need to locate and install some quick-disconnects for the front speakers and route the front wires. I will post the details in audio when it's finished (at least this phase).
