Good Morning CGs!

First of all, I want to remind you WHAT DAY IT IS TODAY in case you FORGOT (which I hope you didn't and never do!).

So where were you? How did you feel? Is it still a part of your life? I still have very personal feelings about this, so it will never leave me. I hope the same for you.

Now that's out of the way, I am leaving shortly for a 5k. Should be a good time. Hoping the rain holds off. After that back to the garage project. My neighbor got in trouble with his wife and couldn't come out and play yesterday....lol. Once we finish that the wife and I are going to a movie.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Yea, + 1.

I'm cleaning my garage today.

Actually 2 snowblower tires showed up from Northern Tool so, I'll have to break out my Harbor Freight tire machine. Finally one of my 437 projects will be complete.

We were giving the State Standardize Test ISTEP. Feelings - angry/ deep down inside I had a feeling it was a terriorist attack after the second jet hit.
Sad day in our history, I was surprised as to how many teachers didn't now about Al Queda or the terrorist attack a few years earlier in the lower level of the Trade Center.
There was fear Chicago would be attacked and even the Golden Dome at Notre Dame. Students were speechless and crying. Parents started pulling their students out of school. By noon the school was void of students. There was a sense of urgency, confussion and frustration.

Good morning! The Mrs. insists that I detail her Jeep today, so that is definitely on the agenda. Gotta get some lubricant for the Vette's rear-axle - it is moaning going around corners.

I'll never forget how surreal that day was - my wife called me at work to tell me about the first building being hit, so I turned on the radio. Nobody was quite sure what was going on, so I went down to our reception area where they have a couple of TV's. A bunch of us were watching as the 2nd plane hit, and everyone was just stunned. And then the reports about the other planes started coming in, and just sitting there in disbelief. It felt very helpless and frustrating - here this was, happening on our own soil, and we could do nothing about it.

Just got home from the race. Was cold and raining the entire time. That sucked. But I ran a great time once I got around the fat-asses that wanted to start in the front and block the faster runners (seriously, wtf?). My goal was 22:00 and I ran a 21:57, so I was happy with that. I think my next race I can shave almost a minute off that if I try even harder.

Gonna go work on the garage with my neighbor.

I was off that day watching it unfold live on the morning news. Cetainly right up there with the landing on the moon (if that ever happened), The assasination of President Kennedy and the Oswald has been shot debacle.

Helped the kid clean up his battery compartment and changed a clamp for him. He helped of course. I could have just told him how but I felt like helping.

I was called in early to work that day, as we are 6 hours behind here in Hawaii.
I took three hours just to get on base, then we were locked down for four days on the boat.
It took some time to think what just had happened when my Dad called as it was unfolding. I thought it was a bad movie.
Sad day.
Going to Punchbowl Cemetery in my White uniform today with the new Chief Selects to show them a little bit of our heritage and for some remembrance.

WHile at Punchbowl and USS Missouri today, Liam Neeson was filming the new Battleships movie set in real time with Aliens. Once someone said Rhiana and Tom Arnold were in it, it went south real quick. Anyways, here is a shot of them shooting today, and some shots of Punchbowl etc.

When 9/11 happened this thread was my only source of news. All the news sites were overloaded and crashed.

Very cool that they've kept that thread in the archives.

Hey guys real late to the party today. Drove an hour to watch my 9 year old grandson play football then an hour home. Washed and waxed the wife's DD after her trip to Topeka this week (she got home about 10:30 last night). Then we went to the "city" to buy groceries and have a little supper. Now we are home and I actually have a chance to check in on what is going on.

My oldest daughter was in Minneapolis today doing a "10K mud run" for MS I think. She finished 4th in her class. This is the same daughter who last month went out to Oregon and ran the "Hood to Coast" relay.....197 miles, 12 members on a team, she ran two separate legs a total of a little over 16 miles. The first leg she ran started about midnight and was 8.3 miles. The second leg was during the day and was 8.1 miles. I don't know how she does it, she's in great shape...especially after four kids.

I tired I'm hitting the hay. See you tomorrow.

Went to find out what time a movie started on my computer and picked up a virus. Already cleared it with Norton 360 but now I get a winsock error on IE. My son will come over and straighten that out for me tomorrow. Spent a few hours tracking it down, running scans and fixes. You geeks could have fixed it in an hour or less but it's all part of the game for me. Learn by doing. Went to a movie with my wife, a friend and his daughter. The guy was with was an active laugh track throughout the movie. Went to dinner at an oven fired pizza joint. We had a salad before the pizza. That salad was tearing me up through the whole movie. I was glad to get back home. Well another day over. Let's see what today brings. (It's past midnight) No boredom around here.
