I'm trying to like it but not quite getting it done. I think if you have a birdcage you can build a correct mid 60's with new frame and any running gear you want. I am sure you would have more in it depending on what you have to start with.

I like the look of the C2's. I see what Ultraman is saying. It is the slant of the windsheild for me.

I need to check out these sites more. I have always wanted to build a kit car. Fiberglass body, small block engine, tons of horsepower, tire shredding torque ....hum.. I have one already. Anyway the kit car thing is on my bucketlist.

One of my neighbors has a beefed up 4.6 Ford engine and a tremec 5 speed that would work great in a Cobra kit car.

A guy I race with bought a California Highway Patrol Muatang, maybe a 1991, that had been totalled for $500, he built a 32 Ford with the parts. 302,5-speed, a/c, suspension that was salvageable. He ended up with a rod for less than $10k. The only one I would be interested in would be a Willys. If I wanted the Ferrari type, it wouldn't be a kit, I'd find something to resto-mod, Pantera, Lotus etc. |

I rather like it.
I remember when the project started and it has taken them quite a few years to get this far. The proportions look right, compared to the C5 conversions I have seen. Sure, it ain't cheap, but I doubt that a home hobbiest could do this - the body work will suck... |

Thats my thinking, once I retire next year, travel to Truckee Cal, when I return from that trek I plan on doing something. I was thinking about a 011 Camero SS or something I can built thats different. Camero 34K or a project for 25K or less, no brainer the kit car seems logical. The old 5.0 litre Ford engines are popular, plentiful and bullet proof. |

I like the kit idea... why buy production when you can buy something you did... It will make it a family heirloom. too.

Exactly Andy! Erin and I had the the most fun building project cars. A lot of bonding and thought process goes into a project car or truck. Moments that I'm sure she will remember with a smile long after I'm gone and something to tell her kids one day. Kit car is like one of those model cars we built as kids, love it. I'm sure Erin will be right there helping me if she has time. |

Think its awesome, nice work. It would cost a ton more Id think to do that let alone the downtime and frustration of DIY. Althouh I like doing my own wrenching if I was flush with cash I could see the sense in writing a check for a done one and moving on.

Some of these would work good for me and Ultraboy! I like the 33 the best. Only set up for Ford engines though, that would have to change. |
