Hi everyone. I just bought a 1992 White LT1 a week before Thanksgiving, drove it for a week and put it up (Michigan winters ya know). This car is fantastic to drive and full of surprises. I was looking for a C3 and happened upon this one and fell in love. I've been looking around here for a short while and really like the people, their sense of humor, and knowledge. I used to run a pro street 69 GTO and the electronics on the vette is a little intimidating. It's time to dust off the tools, grab a manual, and get to work. Yeah!

That's the attitude! I don't believe you'll have any problems, with your hot rodding background. GTOs rock, one of the most awesome cars of that era.
I am concerned about one thing though. You like our sense of humor? That means you're as demented as we are. Cool!
Welcome to the party!

Goats are bad ass. Gotta love'm!

Welcome!!! Don't let the electronics scare you. They are rather reliable and durable and not that invasive.

What options on your 92? I have a Pogo Green 92 myself!

Well, it has the beige interior, auto (not easy to find a six speed), stock everything right now. According to the RPO codes it is supposed to have a solid top but mine has a clear blue one. My wife is not too excited about it but my two boys are. I got rid of the goat before my oldest was born so this is deep in the cool zone for them, me too.

As cool as the old cars are, and I'm certainly not ragging on them, they're just not as driver friendly as a fairly modern Corvette. At least not without a lot of work as in a pro-touring update or something. When I bought my Vette 5 years ago, I already owned a pretty nice 1970 340 Cuda with a stout engine, new interior and very solid body. As cool as it was, I basically just lost interest in it. I finally sold it a couple of years ago. Plus, given the market on '70 Cudas over the last few years, I turned a nice profit on it, nearly doubling my investment.

You are right about the driver friendly part. It only had two seats, rode rather hard, and was not easy to get in and out of. Oh! Sound like the vette. LOL. It had 5.38 gears, tube chassis from the firewall back with full roll cage, and ran on the bottle. Fun car but not a Corvette. I've seen the prices for the old muscle and I'm sure you turned a profit. As for modern Corvette, I was looking for a C3, 80-82. I test drove them and enjoyed it but when I got behind the wheel of the 92, it was magic. You can't beat that huge hood flipped open to draw spectators. BTW, is there a graceful way of getting out of the vette?

As for pictures, I'm working on getting pictures of the goat scanned and I'll post them. I have current pictures of the vette but they need to be resized smaller and I'm not sure how to do that. Any suggestions?

I have not found a graceful way to get in or out. To get in: Aim ass and committ. To get out, I swivel my feet out first, then get my left elbow on the B pillar, right hand on the roof, and bust outta there like nobody's business. Gotta do it quick or my fat ass goes right back in!

I dunno, I guess it depends on what you mean by graceful. I'm 50 something and getting more decrepit by the day, it seems sometimes. But I don't really have a problem getting in and out of mine. Hell, that and 12 oz. curls are about the only exercise I get!

And try not to use the steering wheel for support or you'll be lookng for a rebuilt column soon enough...

LOL! I was just getting pretty good at it when I had to put it away for the winter, so I'll have to be re-trained in the spring. I recall putting my left hand on the sill and stiffening my arm to help lever my way out.

Whatever you do, don't put weight on the steering wheel to get in and out, or it will loosen up in a bad way.
