Good Morning CGs!

Man, looking at the date this month has flown by already! Top it off with a short 28 days and we'll be in March in no time! Spring is around the corner....vette weather

So I feel like a dink. I usually do about 4 hours more research on parts than I need to. Well, I need to get some new gaskets for the upper intake when I pull my injectors, so I grabbed a part number off the internet, went over to Chevy and ordered it. GM #10174951. So I get it and take it home without really looking at it....I didn't open the baggie, but all I can see in it is the lower runner to manifold gaskets. WTF? Why would GM do that? Who replaces the lower gaskets and not the upper? Maybe the other gaskets are hiding in there? I dunno. [edit, I'm gonna have to look tonight when I get home!!!] But anyway it's a special order and no returns, and it's useless to me because I thought I could cut it up more for my porting, but it's for stock applications. So I did about 20 more minutes of searching and found I need Mr. Gasket 146 which is going to fit the larger diameter big tubes. Arrrgh. Just a waste of time and money. Ok, my rant is over. The moral of the story is double check your part numbers and application.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Good morning! That reminds me, I need to dust off my to-do list and see if I need to order anything. I was pretty lax over the winter in that regard, didn't add much to my list (much of which was left-over from last year). Since the snowbanks at the end of my driveway are too tall for the snowblower to throw any snow over, my usual excitement over anticipating bringing the Vette home is at a very low ebb. Meanwhile, I'm just trying to get through another day before vacation.

Have a good day, all!

Yea, measure twice, cut once.

In my case it's measure 4 times, cut once.

I was putting the door pulls on the new maple kitchen cabinets Tuesday and measured the first one about 6 times. Ya only get one shot.

I have a tendency to flip 2 of the digits in a part number so, I can come up with "part not found".

I triple check the "check application" on the websites because I've found some of them to be wrong.

Then if you do get the number right it takes a month because of backorder. Hurry up and wait. Good morning all. Had a rough night last night. I got a call about suppertime that I did not get a big job I had bid on. I spent some time getting it ready but in the end got hammered. The fact that I was 2nd out of 4 did not help. Nuts! Oh well at least I still have a 90 corvette that is all tore apart.

Big storm moving in, Brad you better leave early for your vacation so you don't get snowed in.

Gotta go make the living, have a good day everyone!

Yep, out of a piece of scrap ABS, 2 holes for the pull screws and one inbetween for the centerline. Used masking tape on the doors/drawers so I could draw a straight line, put the 3 holes over the line and marked the 2 places to drill. After the first one, it went very fast and came out perfect.

Morning guys....It's really cold again here today.

Matt, I feel for you, some things just don't make sense. Hey look on the bright side, it's only money. Brad (aka sh!thead ), yea, you better get going a bit early, you don't want to get stuck there in the snow. Bill, I have several jigs made for drilling. It's amazing how spending a little time building a jig can save you later. Marcus, sorry to hear that you didn't get the bid. Hopefully you can make it up later on another job.

I finished up a couple jobs yesterday, only have about 100 left. The kids are pretty good today, quite a few out for illness, the rest all seem to have runny noses and coughing...it's no wonder that I have a cold too.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Hi Gurus! I hope everybody is well. Visiting my Dad in his Woodshop @ School this morning. Were expecting 2-10"of snow tonight..Just when I thought spring was around the corner. Our lab has been running 7 days a week with no break until mid March... I hope by then I can get some quality time with the vette.
Well guys Dad needs to take attendance so I need to relinquish the computer.
Have a great day Erin

Thanks, I saw my life on fast forward. Now I know why I still listen to 50's thru 70's music. I know there is still good music being made, but #1 hit music went on a steep decline from disco on. JMO.

No kidding! I don't even get what my kid is listening to. I like to listen to XM radio and always listen to the 60's and 70's. I will often go to the 50's also. My step-dad who is 88 loves the 40's channel. He knows all the songs and all the artists.

I can see the evolution of the music as it moved forward but you are right about Disco the evolution stopped and turned into something else.

Don't feel bad, neither did your dad!!!

I got home and double checked the gaskets and I'm still right (or wrong!)... I already ordered the Mr Gasket set this morning and it should be here in a week. Not a problem since I haven't even started pulling the injectors out nor will I until at least Sunday at the earliest. Always projects...
