Has anybody done an analog gauge cluster for their 90 or later vette ? I see VettAid is offering one . I would imagine it could be built , but not sure on how to place all the sensors .
I hate my dash most of the gauges stopped working and the back light goes on and off from time to time . Plus analogs gives it a real sports car look. |

AFAIK the vetteaid dashes were for 84-89.
Would you consider repairing what you have? It would be much cheaper in the long run. The only thing that is tricky is the speedo. It's electrical as opposed to mechanical like most aftermarket "hot rod" parts.
The tach is easy, oil pressure is easy (although I'd convert to a mechanical guage if I were you), and oil/water temp both come in electrically. I changed to a mechanical oil temp guage, but that's overkill for a street car. The only challenging part, really, will be making it look right if you can't find a kit that replaces the stock cluster. |

VettAid is now making the dash for the 1990 + years.
and just found out they will sell me the dash without gauges which is great because I want to find the gauges that I like best , not be stuck with an option of just two styles that they offer. also my oil pressure ( either gauge or sender ) has gone out it seems like the sender is hard to get to behind the distributor any tips on how to change it , and is there two senders ? one for the computer and one for the gauge . because the engine wouldn't start if the computer senses no oil pressure ( 4lbs of pressure is what it has to see acording to the GM service manual) |

As far as the oil pressure sender, just pull the distributor. Much easier and not as time consuming as you think. Just use a silver sharpie to mark your plug wires for easier reinstallation. Also, on the older vettes, it was two switches off of that little "tee" on the back of the manifold...my 89 has one integrated switch. Yours is probably the same. Matthew |

Also how much for just the bezel? in a 1990 up if it displayed on the LCD, it came from the CCM. if there is a way to grab the GM VSS signal and use it on an aftermarket gauge all the better, I am all for keeping the CCM in the car and functioning. it will even store mileage so when you ever swapped back to OEM, the actual mileage will be there. the other one if Fuel, the sender from the tank feeds the CCM, you should be able to split off the CCM for a gauge, most others will need new/ different sending units. If the bezel looks decent that might be cool mod, although you would lose the DIC features. I would like to see a kit where it still uses the LCD, but the analog gauges are replaced with more accurate ones.. here are a couple photoshop I did some years ago |

If you go to vettaid.com you can see it for the 90 + C4.
I think it looks good , They will sell me just the housing, and make me a wire harness and I can pick my own gauges. From the info I got it seems plug and play although I will need a new matching oil pressure sensor. |

how do they handle the odometer? That data is stored in the CCM.
Now... speed shouldn't be a problem, even tho it comes thought the CCM, I am pretty sure it is only a pass through and not a direct feed. |

I dont know if its addressed with the Vetteaid kit but in the early year C4's the cruise is controlled by the dash. I was thinking of trying the Trans Am conversion but the no cruise is putting me off. It isnt necessary but its definitely nice on trips.
