Well nothing broke. The 4.11 gear makes the car much easier to launch without bogging but way harder to hook up.

First pass was horrid. I came up about 3800RPM. The car launched hard. So hard I thought I had it in the bag. I slipped the clutch to just off the launch pad, then came out on the clutch and matted the throttle... Car promptly light the tires up and turned sideways... I lifted a bit hooked it up and then I half ass missed 2nd gear (it ground really good). I knew the run was crap but I stuck it in second and rolled into the throttle for the rest of the lap. To my amazement.

RT - .256
60ft - 1.813
330 - 5.143
1/8 - 7.783
mph - 95.84

Second lap was OK. Since the car left so hard initially on the first pass I tried the same launch RPM 3800. For some reason the thing spun right away forcing me to peddel it all the way thru 1st gear. I managed to hit second with no problem and the car felt strong. 3rd gear came and the car really felt like it was hauling the mail. Going thru the traps it sounded like it was turning pretty good so I hit 4th for a short time afterwards just to see how it was going pull.

RT - .214
60ft - 1.934
330 - 5.101
1/8 - 7.607
mph - 98.23

Third lap was a granny pass since the track was not hooking and I didn't want to risk some freak thing happening and breaking it on the launch. I launched from idle (almost stalled it) all I wanted to do was string it out in 3rd gear thru the traps and see what it would MPH since the tach is so slow it's useless. Oh I was running some dude in a G Body that had a nice sounding cam.

RT - .056 (RED)
60ft - 2.122
330 - 5.354
1/8 - 7.923
mph - 98.23

The car ran good and the new front wheels/tires drove good. Just so everybody knows the particulars - Full tank of gas, 20psi in the rear tires, FX3 on full stiff, tried to keep the engine temp around 170-180F. There was like 80 street cars tonight and 10-12 bikes so things were crowded. Just for comparison there was a brand new SS camaro that went 9.07 in the 1/8th and several 98-2004 LS1 F bodies that were all 9.20-9.40 cars. A supercharged Cobra (terminator) on 315 MT drag radials went 8.40's... No one had any traction. By comparison I was flying but the times were'nt even close to my best from last year however the MPH is up a bit with the 4.11 gear.

A couple of big tire bracket cars were running 6.90's@98mph.... It pisses me off I got the HP to run the number but the car just won't hook up on these 17's. I got some big descisons to make this year about the rear wheels and tires.

All in all I had a great time and am happy nothing broke. Noland got to come and watch and he is hyped to see the local drag racing scene. Next week I told him I'll put my MT 315 radials on his 91 (6spd 383 LPE219/SR motor I posted the results of the dyno a few months ago) as he wants to run it.... So next week hopefully I'll have vids and times from it.

I'd like to thank you guys for the support. Andy if you have those back window stickers on the site let me know and I'll buy one to put on the car so everybody knows about the site. I get alot of attention at the track and questions from other Corvette owners. I try to point them here but you never know how many people forget what you tell them... maybe seeing the sticker will help them remember.
Will

Will - glad you didn't break anything! With your motor any rear end parts are suspect

To be honest with you, I have no idea what 1/8 mile times mean....I had to use one of those conversion charts. It looks like your lower time is from a 11.7-11.9 quarter. Impressive!

Wow, any other front end mods besides the skinny tires?

None. All stock suspension. Ft Sway bar is still hooked up as well. Next trip to the track I'm thinking of removing it.

From last season all I changed was a 4.11 rear gear (had a 3.91)and the front Centerline 17X4" wheels with 26X6X17 M&H front runners (had 17X9.5" A mold wheels and 275/40R17 Summi HRTZ's).

Good Job Will, I think I'll be a little gun shy to run mine again... for a while. BTW I missed the thread on Noland's Dyno results. I'd be interested in seeing that since our engines are very similar. You got link?

Never mind, I found it and it's not Noland's engine I'm thinking about. It was someone else. I found the thread you went through the engine specs and dyno results. I thought Noland's was an LT1 but I was mistaken.

Hi Larry, welcome to Guru. I missed your first post awhile back. We like C2's and a lot of us wished we still had one. Hope you chime in more often.

I know how you feel. Every pass last night I was wondering when something in the rear was going to grenade....

No your right and wrong at the same time. Short verison - Noland is a baller... LOL. He currently has 3 C4 Corvettes. I've spec'd/built the engines in 2 of them....

His Green 96 is an LT4 6spd. That's the car we detailed the LT4 383 build 2yrs ago over on CF. Pretty strong car with 421RWHP on a Dyno Jet dyno after everything was sorted.

He bought a 96 Grand Sport Vert 3 months ago and we are installing the LT4 383 I built out of the green car into it in a few months. The Green 96 is going to get stripped and parted out afterwards.

He blew the head gaskets on his 91 going to Carlisle last year so we took a bunch of used/abused parts he had laying around and built the tried and true 383 LPE219/SR combo for his his 91 earlier this year. Single cat exhaust is really hurting it's dyno numbers from what everybody else says. 340ish RWHP on a Land and Sea Dyno. It feels strong seat of the pants wise. He is taking it to the track next week so we'll see how strong it really is.

I know its confusing to follow along when there are 4 different cars to talk about. Everybody needs cliff notes to follow along...

Thanks. Pretty happy with the MPH but disapointed in the dismal 60fts which = dismal ET's.

Track is Old Dominion Dragway in Manassas, VA.

well you normally pick up 25 mph from the 1/8 to 1/4 so you should be trapping 123mph which is moving. i know i will be spinning. i don't have drag radials. i am excited to see what i can get out of it regardless. i am going to have to touch up the tune a little bit too. the track i am going to sucks but there shouldn't be anyone there so i can get some data and play with the car a bit. its going to be all about the mph i guess.

you will find that the front sway bar is worth a tenth.it was for my 60ft times . also i find that if i put it on the middle settings the car bites better . i also only put in 1/2 tank of fuel . i tried the full tank deal and went slower . jmho. also the new nitto nto5r drag radials are way better than my old mickey ts . but i think that going to a 275x40 17 with a manual car might work better because of the bigger side wall.
