Yea, another tire thresd.

Right now I'm seriously getting a set of Hankooks, Hankook Ventus v4 es h105.

I've looked at both these & Michelin's.

Great reviews on both, close to the same treadware.

But the Michelin's are $980 out the door

The Hankook's are $640.

I am more then likely getting Michelin Pilot Sports next time... I have been a fan of Kumho for years, but the latest set just hasn't held up. EXCTA AS or something like that. I will dbl check.

They are 2 years old and have maybe 6000 miles on them. Toast. And I don't abuse. They may have 4k more miles left on them.

They are sticky, yes, but not really confidence inspiring... if you know what I mean.

I've had pilots on the car before.

great tire, of course you pay for it.

the Falcons on the car now are cr@p!
Don't do ANYTHING well
not good in rain
not good for traction
not good for wear

they were cheap though, less than $500 for the set.

I saw Hankooks. I like the Hankooks. Are they a summer performance tire? Where you live you need a tire that can handle the cold. A nice all season radial. The Ventus tires are rated fairly well are they not?

They get good reviews (taking into account who reviewers are). Some reviewers are at 40k miles on them.
Tire Rack rates them in the middle for "preformance" tires.

These are the Ventus Plus (so M&S rated). Reviewers say great in the wet (so, the one time per year when the C4's driven in the rain........)

No problems when it gets cold.

Traction & temp ratings- A

Z rated of course.

48k mile warranty

So, good, bad or indifferent, I'll find out.

Of course, C4 sizes have to be shipped in from Arizona.

But, damn, $636 - mounting, road hazard, tax & everything is a good price.

I like my Kuhmo's on the 90. They are the AS version. I have 4K miles on them and they look brand new. Of course I drive like a wuss. 130 dollars each I think.....

I have not put a lot of miles on the Michelin Pilot sports RF's but so far I don't hate them.

In all the tire threads I've read, I don't recall ever seeing any mention of BF Goodrich KDWs. They were on my C5 the first time I bought it. They wore well (>30K miles) and stuck well enough for my driving habits (all street, pretty mild). So for the price of replacement, that's all I've ever used.

I'm a big BFG fan. Ran TA's on my Chevy van for 300+ mi and always got 40k out of a set.
Just put new Long Trail TA's on the Silverado, the TA's I took off had 45k bit had cracks in the sidewalls & between the treads. Great tires.

I'm pulling off BFG KDWS on the C4 to put the Hankooks on.
The KDWS were long lasting but not real thrilling handling wise. Good in the wet though. Just trying something new.
