I finally had time to throw her on the dyno. The dyno was a DynoJet 224x.
I dyno operator mentioned that he recently had a Corvette dyno day where he mentioned that stock LS3's were throwing down 370-380 rwhp. After watching a few cars before mine it seemed that the dyno numbers were a tad on the low side, but either way it didnt matter because this was my baseline. 1st run- Coolant temp around 165 424rwhp@5900 458rwtq@4000 2nd run- Coolant temp around 210 434rwhp@5900 470rwtq@4000 It was very hard to tell exactly what the rwtq peaked at because the torque curve was so flat. There was also an issue with my car because my wires were too think, and the torque rating spiked in some areas, but I will add that at 2500 she made 450rwtq. Also the airfuel stopped working after the 2nd car which was a bummer, but I think I am somewhat close, but it would have been nice to see it. The horsepower peaked at 5900, but stayed flat to 6300 rpm's then started a slight decline to 6500. I was kinda suprised that horsepower curve didnt drop more past 6000, but those heads still kept on trucking. All in all I was pleased. I thought I would have made more rwhp, but I didnt think I would make that much rwtq. I do have to say that I am very impressed with that TPIS miniram intake as it makes power everywhere in the curve, and thats with 3.07's (4+3 still). Many of you wanted to see what the little heads could do, and it is fair to say that these heads are maxed out. Everyone has there own opinion but I dont think this combo is maximized so there is a little left on the table. :D The car was dynoed with the B&B reasonator, B&B mufflers, and 1 3/4 Hooker Headers. I do believe my exhaust is holding me back a tad (15-20rwhp). I will be making some changes and re-attending the dyno for some pulls. All in all the car ran well, but I did notice that I had a header leak after the dyno runs. The car isnt quiet at WOT, and with the fan blowing on the car, it would have been very hard to hear that noise. I am kinda pissed off at myself for not checking the header bolts (bolt actually fell out, and other bolt was loose). Now I am not saying this affected my dyno number, but I do think its worth noting. I am glad I got a baseline.I wanted a motor to run on the street that was snappy and had excellent low, mid, and upper hp, and I got it! VERY nice, you work so hard and now you reap the reward! You just need a good set of drag radials, nice problem to have.
Are you using the stock computer or something else? |

the b and b resonator is most likely costing you 15-20 rwhp. i ran a b and b setup on my zr1 a while back as a comparison t0 my 23/4 in set up with 3 in super turbos and a ladder style crossover ..with my set up she ran 409.9 rwhp and 373.3 tq with the band and b with resonator she ran 390.6 and 368.2 tq. then installed a 3 in x pipe and she went 404.7 rwhp and 368.1 tq. all runs were done within 2 hrs of each other. we figured out that for my car that 3 in was just alittle too big for me with my present engine combo /.

I ended up buying a 3 inch B&B x-pipe and will be getting it dynoed with this instead of the reasonator. This will give me an idea just how restrictive the reasonator is... |

From everything I have heard it does neck down. I have heard 2.5" and I have now heard 2.75". I will know forsure in regards to mine when it comes off hopefully next week at the exhaust shop. If it does neck down then I know I will gain some with the x pipe forsure.... |

Been running perfect. Driving it as much as I can but haven't made it to the track this year. I put new wheels on this spring, then new seats and door panels and such inside. Building a garage now, then I'm going to change my heads to the AFR 195's with the 75cc chambers to lower compression down to 9.7, put in bigger injectors and a few other things, then go with a supercharger. I'm thinking about 12 to 14 lbs of boost should make it run as fast as it is now, only without the bottle. I am planning on leaving the nitrous on it and may spray a 50 shot with the boost. Can't wait to tear into it but I'm not going to until the garage is finished. Will be nice working indoors for once! |

Those are some stout numbers! You gotta' figure if it's laying down 434 at the wheels, flywheel HP has to be on the order of 500 +/-. Nicely done!

A while back I heard the 4+3 was in the range of 17% loss. If that's somewhat accurate. I am around 522 hp and 566 tq at the crank with what I believe is a restrictive exhaust system. I will be making a little exhaust change very soon, and hoping to put it back on the same dyno before the snow hits. I am "hoping" to improve on those numbers..... I would like to see 450rwhp, and I really dont need any more torque but you never know I could be as high as 480rwtq. Big block tq is fun foresure. "If" I reach those numbers I certainly cant ask for much more from those little ports. Changing out the reasonator for an x-pipe..... |
