Good Morning CGs!

Well, Turkey Day is close approaching. Anyone have big plans? Out of state trips? Not much here, just going to my wife's aunt/uncle's house for dinner. A small get together. Most years there are 20+ people, this year closer to 10. That's ok. It'll be over faster...lol.

Weather here is getting colder. The winds yesterday were wicked. I think it'll be a little warmer today, but not 100% sure.

Anyone doing anything fun for the weekend?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

I'm good.

Local news station has golf on at 6 a.m. so they probably have a handle on the fire.

Number of homes burnt pushed back to 21. (one of them was 20,000 sq.ft.).

The damn fire would have to hit on a day when a cold front with huge winds came thru. Wed & Thurs it was 60 degrees, nice and calm.

Damn good thing I have concrete roof tiles, had 65 mph gusts at the house.

Since I don't have to be concerned with that crap today, back to DNBFS with Corvette parts.

Greetings! Great to hear you're OK, Bill - pretty clever Bubba-ing there! Not much on the agenda today, supposed to get a couple inches of snow. Think I'll take all my waste oil, etc. to the recycling center and get that out of the way. I knuckled under and put up the Christmas lights last night since it was fairly warm out.

We're going to drive up to northern MN on Thursday and have Thanksgiving dinner with my sister and her family. It's probably been 40 years, maybe more, since I spent Thanksgiving with her. Should be a good time.

Have a good day, all!

I have been a busy bee the last week... fellow guru (lurker, mostly), rwj92, helped me put a French Door in the living room. Replaced the ugly sliding glass doors that were falling apart. Photos coming soon.

Went to the LA auto show last night. Photo's coming soon.

It is snowing like a madman, but I am ready. The new snowblower, replete with hand warmers, is gassed up and waiting. The new snow shovel is all shiny and coated with WD-40. My old grain scoop shovel has been spiffed up, worn and bent edges straightened, ground and smoothed. The orange reflective markers have been placed around the edge of the lawn to keep the plow at bay. I am enjoying a frosty beverage, laughing at Mother Nature's feeble attempt.

You sound like this guy:

December 8:
6:00 p.m. and it has started to snow. The first of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat by the window watching the soft flakes drift down all over the area. It was beautiful.
December 9:
We awoke to a big blanket of crystal white snow covering the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Every tree and shrub was covered by a beautiful mantle. I shoveled snow for the first time in years and loved it. I did both the driveway and sidewalks. Later, a snow plow came through and covered our sidewalk with compacted snow from the street, so I shoveled it again.
December 12:
The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Oh well, I'm sure we will get some more before the winter is through.
December 14:
It snowed inches last night and the temperature dropped to 20 below zero. Shoveled the driveway and sidewalks again and the snow plow came by and did its trick again.
December 15:
Sold my van and bought a 4x4 Blazer so I can drive in the snow. Bought my wife snow tires for her car.
December 16:
Fell on my ass on the ice in the driveway. All that was hurt was my feelings.
December 17:
Still cold (below zero in the AM) and the icy roads make for very tough driving.
December 20:
Had another 14 inches of the white shit last night. More shoveling in store for me today. The God Damn snow plow came by twice.
December 22:
We are assured of a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the shit fell today and with this freezing fucking weather, it won't melt 'til August. Got all dressed up to go out and shovel (boots, jumpsuit, heavy jacket, scarf, earmuffs, gloves, etc.) and then I got the urge to piss.
December 23:
I was going to go ice fishing today, but the fucking worms froze and I didn't want the fish to break their teeth on my fucking bait.
December 24:
If I ever catch the son-of-a-bitch that drives that fucking plow, I'll drag him through the snow by his balls. I think he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then comes down the street at 100 miles an hour throwing the shit all over what used to be my lawn.
December 25:
Merry Christmas! They predict 20 more fucking inches of the white bullshit. I wonder if they know just how many fucking shovels full of snow 20 inches is? Assholes! Fuck Santa, he doesn't have to bust his balls shoveling shit. The snow plow driver came by and asked for a donation. I rapped him upside his fucking head with the snow shovel!
December 26:
Guess who the fuck got 28 plus more inches last night? I must be going snow blind or getting cabin fever, because the wife is starting to look real good to me!
December 27:
Cock sucking toilet froze. If you go outside, don't eat the brown snow.
December 28:
I set fire to the fucking house. Now, I want to see the white shit cling to the roof!!!

Good evening folks.

I had too many of my wife's excellent Manhattans last night - woke up hung over at about 7:00 AM, went back to sleep and woke up in far more civilized fashion around 11:00 AM.

I did get a chance to finally take Lauren out for her birthday ride. She started up nicely, but the newly rebuilt parking brake is touchy: very hard to disengage. Drove well, though - good torque.

@Andy - I almost peed my pants I was laughing so hard! That was GREAT!! Us midwestern Gurus can relate.

Kind of a crappy day here today. The Mrs. and I were planning to go to the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Rosemont, IL today, but both of us came down with some stomach distress this morning, and I've been fighting the fatigue from radiation treatments all week, so we hung it up and stayed home. Took a nice little nap on the couch, and now I've been busy rebuilding my desktop PC that went TU on me last week. Got a Corvette club meeting tomorrow, and then back to the old grind on Monday. Glad it's a short week. Staying local for Thanksgiving (in-laws) which is nice. My wife and her sister are both great cooks. Just hoping that by Thursday, I'll be able to eat and taste my food. The radiation is starting to cause my mouth to feel real sore. Kinda' feels like I have a huge cold sore that wants to bust out on my lower lip, and my tongue has been real sore and tender. It's a pretty common side effect from what I hear. On the positive side, the tumor on my forehead is GONE, I've lost very little hair! Only five more treatments left. I'll be glad when it's done.

Have a good rest of the weekend all!

Ron

Evening guys....man it's been a long day. I got up early loaded the pickup with tools and headed to the "city", to do some cabinet work for one of the other teachers I work with. Her house is 50+ years old and has never had anything done to it cabinet wise. It had a built in oven and cooktop stove. I modified the cabinets for a regular stove added some cabinets to take the place of the ones she lost where the cooktop used to be. Pulled the old countertop off. added new hardware. That was a 7 hour job....with the wife helping me. She is going to have a new countertop measured for, some new tiles backsplash and some tile work on the floor done. I'll download and post some pictures.

Then I got home just in time to clean up and go to church. After church we came home and celebrated my middle daughters' 32nd birthday.

To say the least, I'm tired. They are in playing games, I'm thinking it's bed time.

Andy, that's a freaking classic. I love it and laugh every time I read it. No snow today for us, but it sure turned cold this afternoon and this evening.

Thanksgiving is coming fast, I have only Monday at school, as I took a personal day Tuesday to go to KC and visit my granddaughters school for grandparent day. The we are there for T-giving.

I'll check in tomorrow guys.

Did they give you any RadiaGel for the skin dryness. I suffered really dry mouth for a long time after. There is a type of gum you can by at health food stores that increases the slyvia in your mouth. It helped me with the same distress you are going through.

Hang in it is almost ofer and you will regain your taste buds.
