http://lightkeeperpro.com/

I spent a couple hours tearing out what little is left of my hair working on a lighted garland - all the lights were out. I pulled out and checked every bulb, checked the fuses, etc., nothing. I went to Target to see if they had any decent garlands, but they had crap. I happened to notice the Lightkeeper Pro gizmo - my wife had mentioned it while I was tearing my hair out when their commercial was on TV. So I figured, WTF, I'll give it a shot. In about 30 seconds, the string was lit, good as new. I don't know what kind of mojo is in that thing, but it is powerful.

I could have used that on Thursday. I threw out a string of lights because it was half burnt out and I wasn't gonna try to fix it.

How much was that?

It was 18.99 at Target, might be a little cheaper online. The garlands were about $30 each when we bought them, so I wasn't too crazy about tossing them. I could've used this gizmo when I was dicking around with the icicle lights for the outside last week, too.

I had one... it was hit and miss if it would actually fix a bum string. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Tried one of these. The test was to find a known bad bulb. It found the bad bulb one out of ten times. Then it found three lights that were working to be bad. So I figured that one out of ten wasn't too bad and kept it as a fall back solution. This weekend after pretesting a string, wifey noted that a segment was out after I had hung it. Broke out the little dandy and spent the next fifteen minutes trying to find the culprit bulb.

Had to replace the string on the house and we still can't find all the pieces of that POS.

This year when I found a strand that didn't light I threw them in a box. Several years ago we bought boxes and boxes of lights that were on sale after X-mas for 10 cents on the dollar. Threw 5 strands of lights in the box so far. Anybody want them?

The solution.

1. Remove white bulb

2. Install red bulb

3. No worky - install blue bulb

4. Done - easy peasy

I broke out all my stuff this year. First time on over 10 years. Next year I may well go back to my 8 minute decorating. Big party Christmas day at our house. My wife is Jewish so were celebrating Haunimas. Haunika/Christmas. Lots of parties then back to hermit status for me.

My xmas lights have never failed, I take good care of them by keeping them new in box.

With the 3-wire stuff The good bulbs light no matter what. One bad one won't kill the circuit.

I have no idea with the new led crap though, but I expect those are pretty durable.

Make sure to put the flasher bulbs in the lights randomly but mostly on one side of your house only so it looks stupid half-flashing when you plug it in and you have to climb back on the roof in the snow/ice to hang over the 2nd story gutter with a replacement glass bulb in your teeth to change it out.

Or don't use flashers. I did find one flashing bulb out of the thousands lit. I may change it. I may not. Funny thing .... It's on the gutter. No ice or snow though.

Used one of those gizmos Sunday while putting up brand new lights. Worked great last year with some old sets. Not exactly sure how it works! usually too cold out side to play around with it.
