Chair-man of the bored Homestead USA 33760 Posts Member since: 2007/12/10 0:00	Where does all the time go? This year is flying. Spread 3 huge loads of mulch testerday. It was one of those, I don't want to do it but it has to get done kinda jobs. Today is grass cutting day and plant a couple of trees. Two projects in the works are cleaning and organizing the sheds and repairing and painting the door frame that goes into the garage. Chipping away at the list one day at a time. Have a productive day. Rememeber, whatever gets done today, doesn't get put off till tomorrow.

I have to move some white rock but that's later. I started on the back yard last night and did one side. PIA to get around all the raspberry and blackberry bushes. I found a new method that works well, using a hand sized 3-tine rake: The large rake wont get in to the voids between the rocks, this works great. After I did the second side on the front I ended up with this: This is the pile from the back so far: We still don't know what we are going to replace it with. Despite everyone's hatred for red mulch, rubber mulch, etc, I like those. In a small area we used it and it looks nice. I'll try to get a picture later with the mulch. Probably going with a tan or pinkish colored rock to try to match the brick on the house. Hope everyone has a great day! Matthew

I kinda knew it was coming but was hoping not....Ultraboy asked if he could take the C5 to Prom.........ahh geez...the anguish the worry......the chances of it coming back the way it left are low I think. First I will say that Uboy is a responsible kid and drinking is not an issue with him. He gets good grades and minds his parents so its tough for me to say no. I no doubt will let him take it just because if my Dad had had a Vette when I was in school it would have been more then huge to take it to prom........what do you guys think? I could take a lawn chair and sit by the car like at a car show when its in the parking lot......lol..... Hot today, around 90 but then heading for cool and wet I hear. Great not only am I lending my beautiful C5 to a teenager but it will be raining when I do it....... Gotta go Guru people......Have a nice day!.....

Huskerland 14738 Posts Member since: 2009/9/12 19:16	I never thought about how the forclosure mess was affecting the kids.....the kids are just along for the ride on the bus that is being driven by their parents and they have no input if the parents are driving the bus off the cliff. In this case it wasn't always the parents fault.... We were lucky out here, the farm economy took off about the time everything else went down the tubes....very few if any forclosures in our town. In fact new homes are being built all over out here.......

No one can use them unless they can afford to replace them. That's why only a few have ever had a chance to drive the cars. I have nephews and neices ask me all the time. Of course, I already know the answer when I ask. My son is 33 and he can't drive a stick. That knocks out 3 of them. The forth one I won't let him drive because there is too much of a chance he can't handle it. That leaves the Yukon. He can use that if he needs a ride. It's 13 years old. I can absorb the loss.

Marcus I'd say you could go ahead an let Uboy take it to prom. In the final scheme of things it's just a car and can be fixed or replaced if something happens to it. The farm economy around here isn't very good as we've had drought for several years now and it has really hurt the farming industry. But not lots of foreclosures either.

And yes there is CP irrigation all over. but the water level has dropped so much, the state has cracked down on how much water they can pump, so many have been shut down for long periods of time. We had a farmer, not far from here, who said "To hell with you" and continued to pump, when they checked his meters, the state had him arrested and they fined him big time.

I have the same type of kid and hes off to Penn State in August...Its not Him I'm worried about. Yeah, he'd probably do a quick burnout to impress his girlfriend. Nothing you or I wouldnt do, but there seems to be wayyyytoo much alcohol at proms anymore. It might not be your kid you need to worry about....its everyone else...Try to get him into a group of kids renting a Limo. Either way. good luck with your decision.
