Good Morning CGs!

Happy slurpee day! That's right, 7/11 which means you get a free slurpee at 7-11 stores. Mmmm-hhmmmm.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07 ... rpees-7-11_n_1663293.html

Aside from that it's just a regular day. After work I'm stopping at a shop where I know the guy. We're gonna pull the refrigerant out of vette, vacuum it, and refill it to see if that solves the problem. Hopefully so. I did some diagnostic testing last night and everything seems to be in order, the only thing I couldn't check the the refrigerant level (although with gauges it seemed high before).

Not much else to report.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Did you have a big wedding? A little wedding? A shotgun wedding?

I was married twice. Both of them mid sized weddings at the behest of the brides families. The first one was a long drawn out prenuptual affair with everything having to be just so. The second, we gave the future MIL 5 days to throw the shabang together. She did a great job too. No major doddling. I rented a tux. My wife used her sisters wedding dress. Secured a restaurant, got a marrying judge and his wife, both justices of the peace, flowers for the bride and tables and gathered about 60 of the families closest friends. If you are gonna do it, this is the way I recommend. Less discussion, choosing, thought dwelling. Just get er done.

I've been to a number of weddings. My wifes' cousin spent a couple of hundred thousand on his wedding. I've been to yard weddings that were more like a party with a wedding thrown in. I'm not in for the big expensive affairs myself. Spending 20 to 50 grand for a ceremomy that has a 50/50 chance of success is not my idea of a wise investment. There is a celebration in the Cuban community here for when a girl turns 15. Quince. Holy crap, do they spend some money on this stuff. It's like a wedding without a groom. They spend wedding sized fotunes on them too. Birthday parties are another party gone way out of control. First, second and third year birthday parties that involve tens of thousands. I knew of one that the kids b-day party was over 50 grand. All for a party the kid will never remember. I guess they'll get to live it through the pics and videos. I think I'll throw a party today with just one celebrant. Me. I should get off pretty cheap.

Good morning! Another beautiful day out there today, and naturally I'm stuck inside. In my next life, I'm gonna be born rich. Those big weddings are such a waste - seems like the bigger the wedding, the higher the likelihood it won't last. But the caterers, etc. are making out like bandits, anyway.

Have a good one, Gurus!

I agree, I don't understand spending thousands on a stupid dress that you wear for a little while, whereas I can find the identical looking one for $99. My first wedding was a church deal, bridesmaids in matching dresses and crap, my first wedding his too so it was kind of expected. My second, we just wanted to pay $500 and have it all done for us on a cruise ship or the beach or something but his mother insisted. So, I rented 100 white chairs for next to nothing, I got a couple cases of champagne, made an elegant 'bottle cover' since it was at a state park, outside under the shade trees and was beautiful. My ivory dress was a $60 markdown from $300 at a Dillards' closeout store, his tux was cheap, the police dispatcher made our cake as a gift, mom got one of those table long subway sandwiches and a bunch of food and we had some classical music playing. Was a gorgeous afternoon and everyone had a nice buzz, took me about a week to do all that all by myself, and I made my own bouquet and all of it, even the little bottles of bubbles everyone had fun with, made my own labels and all that crap. Still would rather have gone to the beach or something.

Morning guys and Letty....it's a beautiful morning.

37 years ago when we got married, I would guess we had a mid sized wedding. Four bridesmaids/groomsmen. We maximized our money though. Rosie made her own dress, my mom made the cake. Rosie's aunts made the food.

Our wedding was big by American standards, medium by Polish standards. 370 at the dinner hall. Started at 7 am at the house, then to church, then to luncheon, then to park for photos, quick stop home, then dinner at the hall. It ended around 4 am for us. Cost was about $30,000 but we got a lot for it and people still tell me it was the most fun wedding they've ever been to.

Weddings.....didn't we just have one....we did not spend that much by todays standards but it would have bought a nice C5 Z06.....but the girls made a ton of the stuff and it was really cool.

Got in late from the game and am getting ready to throw my stuff in the Vette and get going this morning. I am going to stop and see my mom on the way home so need to get outta here. Had a lot of fun and the BIL has a very nice place here in KC.

Here is a couple of pics from last night.....TBee wished you could have been at The K also last night..

Just got back from the All Star trip...put on 600 plus miles and my old C5 just rolled over to 90K miles. The car ran perfect and I tried to stay between 75 and 80 the whole way out on the Interstate.

Took the KTA (Kansas Turnpike)from KC to Topeka where it cost me 2.75 cents for the privelege to drive on their road, which I thought was outrageous. It used to be a buck 35.......At one time I remember the speed limit was 80 mph on that road which was built in the 50's and I remember always thinking it was real cool to drive on the 4 lane super hiway back when I was a kid. This was before Interstates. TB has spent some time on it I'm thinking......

It's a 4 lane like I said but they are real close together and they finally put concrete dividers between the east and west lanes to prevent head on cross overs. The original road ran from KC to Topeka to Wichita to the Oklahoma border. I will say that it is smooth as glass so the money is going into keeping it up.....a lot more then the Interstate systems...

Yea, I spend a lot of time on that stretch, Marcus. You should have gotten off at the east terminal. 25 cents cheaper and quicker on around to where the south terminal meets up with I70. We travel on it enough that we purchased a KTag, which allows us to drive through and it reads our KTag then charges our account and we pay once a month with our credit card. No stopping, just slow down as you go through the special lane. The barriers are also to keep people from turning around and going the other direction, thus keeping the state from getting what they deserve in tolls.

It is a very nice road and they do keep it nice. They've added an additional lane between Topeka and Lawrence (three each way). I believe that the plan is to continue that between Lawrence and KC. Actually I70 is a pretty good road all the way out as far as Hays (which is about 250 miles west of KC. It might be just as good west of Hays, but I haven't been on that stretch for a few years. The road still goes from KC to Topeka, Wichita and the Kansas/Oklahoma border.

Well, with help from daughter #2, her hubby and #1 GS I got the face frames of the cabinets all sprayed today. 3 coats of lacquer, and sanding between coats. The conditions were perfect for spraying today. Within 40 minutes, after spraying, they were ready to sand and then the next coat went on. Tomorrow I get to start putting the cabinets together. I'm guessing it will take about 4 hours to put them all together. Check out the videos on the system I bought
