Wow...that is really cool. I love those old sailing ships. I'm glad they have kept old Ironsides up. Thanks for sharing that.....

I drove by Old Irinsides 100 times but never stopped to actually look. I remember seeing it many times from the roadside but that was way before the big dig. Boston has such a great historic feel to it. One other amazing historic fact. I was born there.

What a ship. 215 years old. Paul Revere forged the copper bolts for her. 21" thick hull. 50 guns, 32 of which fired 24 pound balls. Amazing.

Very cool - I saw a little clip on the news about it. An amazing time warp.

Reminds me of the movie Goonies, at the end, when the pirate ship left the cave and sailed out into open waters.

If you follow the posts you'll see that they stayed on topic till someone recalled a pleasant memory from a fictional movie. The scenes in Boston are are of historical signficance in Beantown. The ship is docked in the city. The entire city is reeling with history through many wars and battles. This is "Off" Topic. Some of your replies may well be a little off. Sorry you didn't get what you came for.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Old Ironsides is taken out into the harbor every year and turned 180 degrees and redocked. This is to even out the weathering she receives.

nothing more lovely than a full sail ship of that era. The rigging... the shape... everything is just so damned cool.

Well BOGUS, seems certain posters take this forum as a place to take a p!$$ lately, and it's not just my posts.

Makes me wonder what's going on.

You seem to be the only one bothered. This is off topic, by the way...

And as I reviwed the thread, I saw nothing that makes me feel it was inappropriate or whatnot.
