Wish I had a chance to sit a day on Sataday but that ain't gonna happen. Sonny took some vacation time to work on the house he's living in and Dad volunteered to help him out some. I have to help him distinguish the difference between shit and shinola. When it comes to caring for and mainaining a home, somehow, he doesn't know shit from shinola. He wrote a list to help him. He has 5 days to do jobs that would take me 3. He's gonna need all 5 with my oversight. Patience, when it comes to instruction, is not one of my strong suits. Add a couple of calls from my honey and I'm in for a fun few days.

Morning guys...I'm up and around early. My back has been hurting...probably from carrying those solid core doors up and down the stairs. So I am sitting here in the massage chair while I cruise the inet.

Football on tap today with the younger two boys. Other than that, not much else.

Well its good to be home...I think. The lawn is still dead as are the trees and its getting almost too late to do anything about them. I figure to get both fixed it is gong to take $5,000....yes you read that right. It was not a good idea to turn off the water this summer and I'm very pissed about it. As I have said I know a lot about corn and soybeans wheat and milo....but not a lot about lawns or trees it seems.

The GS was excellent in its shakedown cruise. Very comfortable and will run all day at 80 to 90 mph. It got positive comments anywhere I stopped, suprizingly many from women...who on occasion would walk over from filling their own cars and ask about it. The first question was always, is that brand new? One place I filled, a guy pulled in in a well worn 85 Roadster and we immidiatly struck up a conversation about the merits of both cars. He loved his and I loved mine...that's what Corvettes are all about.

The only guy that didn't talk to me much was a guy in a new black Poorshaa that he was having a hard time figureing out where to the fuel fill was....Nice car..some kind of 911ish type..I wanted to go look at it but two guys came over and were telling me about the Vettes that they had owned....its a good way to meet people.

Big win by the home team last night which puts us at 3 and 3. 3 games left and our high school sports will be done.

I better get after it, enjoy your day Guru's....

Daughter having baby mojo.
I always get comments and thumbs up on the cars. Thank you. Thank yoou very much. First question ..... What year is that? Some people actually stop and stare at the 911's or lock eyes on them as they walk by. That tells you something about body design. The wide body/whale tail get's them every time. They think it's fast. Maybe on the top end but a 6 cylinder 220 or 189 hp car is far from quick in my eyes. Fun? Hell yeh! All of them get up and over speed limits quickly. I'm always slowing down to 5 over. Lots of 35/40 mph speed limits around here. The fun with the Vettes and Porsches is the cornering. Toatally different animals to boot.

Begin the day with a friendly voice
A companion unobtrusive
Plays that song that's so elusive
And the magic music makes your morning mood

Off on your way, hit the open road
There is magic at your fingers
For the Spirit ever lingers
Undemanding contact in your happy solitude

Howdy! I slept in a bit, but have to get cracking. We're going SUV-shopping today, planning to get a new buggy for Mrs. Pianoguy and give her Liberty to my son. Watching a little Ryder Cup action - we heard last night that it will be here in 2016, so I'll have to try to score some tickets.

Good luck on your projects, Tommy - hopefully you son will learn a few new tricks.

Yeah, Tom - those doors are heavy buggers - I installed them on the main floor earlier this year. Kind of a PITA, but they class up the joint. Maybe I'll replace the upstairs doors someday if I get ambitious.

All the best to your daughter, Bob!

Have a good dya, Gurus

There's a lot of them around here.

A lot of them are in the Reno Corvette Club

You can't drive a mile here without seeing a new Porsche

And there's the guy who brought his new GS to the track this year and wouldn't go over 60 on the straight. Asked him how fast he went driving to the track since I 80 has 70mph speed limit.

But the rest of the drivers that are "car guys/gals" are a lot of fun to talk to.

I would go faster than 60 mph in mine if I had it out there, maybe even like 80 or something crazy like that. That would be fun....

I'm sure you would, you'd be @120 on the straight with me and could take it easy in the corners. Heck, I had a 55 year old gal in a C6 that hit 120 (and ran freeway ramp speeds in the corners), but that's OK. She was supprised at the 120 thing, didn't even realise it until I told her after she pulled off track.

This guy was something else, kinda like he never drove ANY car before.

Some time in the chair has made the back feel better. Another round tonight might be in store.

These are the doors we wanted to put on when we built the house, but couldn't afford at the time. These are actually, veneered (1/8" thick veneer) on the faces. They are heavy like solid oak.

I changed from the cheapo, slap sided, hollow doors to the cheaper foam cored, fake woodgrain, raised panel. Painted them white with oak stained molding.
These doors do look OK though.

I should have done the rosette thing at the top of the door molding, mitering never is exactly right.

I made all the molding and the blocks. 3/4" thick on the molding full 1" thick on the rosettes and the plinth blocks.

Next project is doubling up on the balusters. Again, when we built the house the spacing was OK, today they are too far apart. I turned all those on my lathe. The other day one of my students came in with some his parents bought at Menards (like a Home Depot, except regional) And they are very close in style. Why turn them when I can get them all done for $7/each?

That'll be my wife's new wheels for the next 10 years or so. Her Liberty is 10 years old and has about 44K on it, so we're giving that to my son.
